Discernment Becomes More and More Rare

In the following video, Dr. David Reagan, of Christ In Prophecy, interviews the daughter of Oral Roberts, Word of Faith forerunner of the charlatans we know today, and he’s, surprisingly, a HUGE fan of Oral Roberts.

At times it seems surreal to listen to Reagan gushing over Roberts.  The list of ministers with discernment gets shorter and shorter.  If you have it, treasure it.  It’s in short supply these days.

What troubles me even more than this is his view on Hell, Conditional immortality he calls it. In an article published at RaptureReady.com (!!) he says this of Hell: “I believe the Bible teaches the unrighteous will be resurrected, judged, punished in Hell for a period of time proportional to their sins, and then suffer destruction (the death of body and soul).” Here is the link: http://www.raptureready.com/featured/reagan/dr5.html

I have always enjoyed Lamb Lion Ministries so much and subscribe to their YouTube video channel,,,I was shocked at this video & cannot understand why they chose to have this woman & her book be discussed & promoted on their ministry channel. We must be very careful to examine all that is presented to us today & that requires knowing the Word of God!! Many sheep are being led to the slaughter because they blindly follow the wrong shepherds & false teaching.

I dont see the differance between Roberts and the Mormon church both preach a false gospel and both are self proclaimed prophets with a university named after them ORU-BYU.According to Roberts a god told him that he would give him a cure for canser when he builds the ORU medical center oops that was a flop after spending 46 million dollars.
Roberts seen a 900 ft jesus wow! but only built a 200 prayer tower in his honor.
Roberts ORU students are taught seed of faith “a false gospel” and is spread througout the world so is the mormons instead of seed of faith they preach family unity and teaches we can become gods and jesus was satans brother
Roberts was in the same ballpark! its about money no healings. Can anyone find a sermon that Roberts ever preached about Jesus salvation message I dont think so Money money only!

    Reply from Dr. David Reagan:

I have always been a great admirer of Oral Roberts and his ministry. I have studied it in detail for many years, reading every book that has ever been published about it.

He was an Orthodox Christian in every respect. He preached the Gospel mightily and would not allow any person to come forward for healing unless they had first heard the Gospel. He affirmed all the fundamentals of the faith in his preaching — the virgin birth, the miracles of Jesus, the death, burial and resurrection, the atoning sacrifice of Jesus, and the return of Jesus. He firmly taught that Jesus is the only way to God. He preached powerful sermons about both the Rapture and the Second Coming, both of which you can find on YouTube and both of which were right on target. He also restored to mainline Christianity a belief in the continuing healing power of Jesus.

He began his ministry with an incredible step of faith, that only a person like me, who took a similar step, can fully appreciate. And he remained a man of great faith for the rest of his life.

To his credit, like the ministry of Billy Graham, there was never any financial or moral scandals associated with this ministry.

The one doctrinal area where I strongly disagreed with him, and still do, was his teachings about prosperity.

The book by his daughter is absolutely remarkable. It bears all the warts and yet is written with a spirit of incredible love. He treated her terribly, yet she continued to love him and admire the great accomplishments of his ministry. I think the book would deeply touch your heart.

We did two TV programs with her, one on prophecy (she is an expert) and the other on her family and her dad’s ministry. I think you will find them fascinating.

Oral Roberts was not perfect. He made a lot of mistakes in his ministry, one of the worst being his insistence that his son, Richard, take over the ministry and the university, when he was totally unqualified to do so. I also believe that he made a terrible mistake when he established the City of Faith Medical Center. It was a great idea, but all his counselors advised against it. When he stubbornly pursued it, I think he make the mistake of operating on presumption rather than faith, and the whole project collapsed around him.

But keep in mind that the only people God has to work through are sinners like me who are totally unworthy of His grace and mercy.

Oral Robert’s life story has always been a source of great inspiration to me. It is the story of a poverty-stricken, shy, half-Indian boy with a terrible speech stammer who was healed miraculously of TB as a teenager and who went on to become one of the most powerful evangelists in American history. I personally have no doubt that Oral Robert’s ministry was raised up by God and greatly blessed by Him. There were times when Oral seemed to run out from under God’s anointing, be he remained faithful to the Lord to his death.

I hope you will read Roberta’s remarkable book.

I understand where Dr. Reagan is “coming from”, but, you have to admit a born again christian cannot recommend Oral Roberts as new christians might be lead astray by the “word faith” teachings along with the solid teachings. Just like Billy and Franklin Graham with their eccumenical leanings and teaching that all people will go to heaven whether they hear the gospel/name of Jesus or not. These are false teachings thus making them False teachers. We must be constant Bereans even with Lamb Lion ministries so we will “not be deceived”.

I have lost all respect for this man….Oral Roberts was the ‘author’ of the greedy ‘seed faith’ message that all the snake oil salesman are using to get their riches form the poor while here on earth….shame on him for spreading more lies and forgetting the true message…..

“After he embraced prosperity doctrine, Oral Roberts’ best-known and most far-reaching brainchild was the Seed-Faith message. Roberts taught that money and material things donated to his organization were the seeds of prosperity and material blessings from God, and that God promises to multiply in miraculous ways whatever is given–and give many times more back to the donor. It was a simple, quasi-spiritual get-rich-quick scheme that appealed mainly to poor, disadvantaged, and desperate people. It generated untold millions for Roberts’ empire and was quickly adopted by a host of similarly-oriented Pentecostal and Charismatic media ministries. The Seed-Faith principle is the main cash-cow that built and has supported vast networks of televangelists who barter for their viewers’ money with fervent promises of “miracles”–and the miracles are invariably described in terms of material blessings, mainly money….

Tragically, the Seed-Faith message usurped and utterly replaced whatever gospel content there ever may have been in Oral Roberts’ preaching. In all the many times I saw him on television I never once heard him preach the gospel. His message–every time–was about Seed-Faith. The reason for that is obvious: the message of the cross–an atoning sacrifice for sins wrought through Jesus’ sufferings–frankly doesn’t mesh very well with the notion that God guarantees health, wealth, and prosperity to the righteous. Our fellowship in Jesus’ sufferings (Philippians 3:10), and our duty to follow in His steps (1 Peter 2:20-23), are likewise antithetical to the core principles of prosperity doctrine. The prosperity message is a different gospel (cf. Galatians 1:8-9)….

Oral Roberts’ influence is not something Bible-believing Christians should celebrate. Virtually every abberant idea the Pentecostal and charismatic movements spawned after 1950 can be traced in one way or another to Oral Roberts’ influence.”

    – John MacArthur, “Measuring Oral Roberts’ Influence”

The prosperity gospel and the saving Gospel of Jesus Christ do not mix, period.

The originator of “seed faith” mass mailings was a Beverly Hills mass mail marketer/huckster guy named James Gene Ewing who is the person who, back in the 1960’s, turned Oral Roberts onto the practice when Oral was broke from building ORU. Ewing had come to see a plane Roberts was wanting to unload & after Ewing told Roberts how to “reap” from “seed faith” mass mailings, Roberts was so happy about the idea he gave the plane to Ewing free. If you’ve never seen this article, it’s definitely worth a read, a real doozie. Ewing is/was also behind those creepy “St. Matthew’s Church” mailings:
