Have you ever watched The X-Men? The stories coming out of Bethel Church in Redding, California, resemble those types of stories more than they do the Scriptures.

Smelly Metal of the Dissolved Kind
Another ‘outrageous’ story from Bethel Church

Since I was a kid growing up in the backwoods of Alabama, I have enjoyed playing with knives of various shapes and sizes. Pocket knives, Bowie knives, fighting daggers, a rare survival knife, and a museum-quality knife from Spain go to make up my small collection.
Indeed, it’s amazing what a trained craftsman can do with a chunk of metal.
By now, you’re probably asking yourself, “So, what’s that got to do with anything?”
Well, while strolling through Bill Johnson’s Bethel Church website yesterday, I stumbled across a quite unusual healing testimony–the type that makes you shake your head and wonder if there really is life on other planets.
In fact, I must confess that reading the article caused me to sniff a couple of my knives to see how they smelled. Hey, stop laughing! There’s a first time for everything. Besides, I have heard that great smellers are what made this country great.
Anyway, after reading the article, you will understand why I think professional knife makers (and steel mill workers) would appreciate the lady’s unusual “anointing,” and use the service she provides–despite how “outrageous” and, uh, smelly it is. Here it is, and enjoy your trip into The Twilight Zone:
Teams from Bethel went to the annual Nebraska trip at which occur outrageous miracles. Here is one from a past trip a couple of years ago. As metal disappeared from the neck of a woman, she could taste it in her mouth, and those around her could smell metal burning. She had a fused neck, which is now free. This time, Joaquin Evans asked her to share that testimony, and as she did, he said he felt she had an anointing to see metal dissolve. They prayed for her. The next day, she went out with one of the teams to another city and prayed for a man with metal in his lower leg. He hadn’t had feeling in his calf muscle and foot for 14 years. He had restricted movement. She prayed for him, and he could feel his muscle and bend his knee. And he could no longer feel the metal in his leg. [October 28, 2011, http://tinyurl.com/cz4f9gm]
Hmmm, see what I mean? By the way, the knives I sniffed smelled like, uh, knives. But in case you’re wondering, I refuse to taste them. So, don’t ask.
