An Unhealthy Update on Peter and Doris Wagner

The nefarious NARians

by Bud Press October 26, 2011

For decades, C. Peter Wagner and his wife Doris have led the New Apostolic Reformation in a worldwide campaign against the forces of darkness. At the same time, they have convinced untold thousands that performing spiritual warfare on demonic strongholds is a sure-fire remedy to rid cities, states, and global territories of those pesky critters.

The key, according to the nefarious NARians, is to identify the demonic big cheeses, map-out the strongholds where they do business, and raid their camps with NAR flags o’ victory waving in the breeze.

But the battle won’t be won until the New Apostolic Reformation reforms the minds of the innocent and gullible, and establishes complete “dominion” and “control” over the Christian church. Once this is done, NARians will elect their self-appointed apostolic government, and place their self-elected prophetic  politicians in power to dominate and dictate. Then, when the planets are in perfect alignment, and all the heretic hunters have been silenced, the NAR will give its “Jesus” the green light to return, where it will teach good NARians to walk as robots through a field of tulips and sing Kum Bah Yah.

As the battle rages, what the Wagners and their fellow NARians fail to see is their focus is on demonic activity–instead of the real Jesus Christ and the  truth of His written word. Concentrating on demons and their destruction gains more oppression from the one whose attempt to overthrow God got him and one third of his demonic angels bounced out of heaven on their forked tails.

Needless to say, sharing Jesus Christ and the gospel will, of course, lead more people to Christ than worrying about demons behind every tree in every city, state, and territory throughout the world.

Consequently, those who refuse to cooperate with the NARian agenda will, no doubt, suffer the consequences, and may be sentenced to eating stale popcorn while suffering through endless re-runs of Todd Bentley shaking, rattling, rolling, and kicking his way through the 2008 Lakeland revival. To add insult to injury, commercial breaks will feature a video of Jessa Bentley shaking her head fast enough to sling her eyeballs into the audience during a New Age mini-revival at Rick Joyner’s MorningStar church.

While the Wagners and the NARians toot their spiritual warfare trumpets and blow shouts of victory over their desensitized followers, their efforts to rid  the world of demonic activity was, in reality, doomed before it began. G. Richard Fisher explains:

In 1990, the Spiritual Warfare Network (SWN) was formed by these new apostles and prophets. It is important to remember that they have had 20 years to reclaim ethnic groups, nations, and parcels of geography. So far, after two decades, they have made no progress at all. [“Mountains and Other Tall Tales: Examining the Fantasy World of Modern-day ‘Apostle and Prophet’ C. Peter Wagner,” The Quarterly Journal of Personal Freedom Outreach, October-December 2011, p. 8]

Continuing, Fisher states that, “After 20 years of selling their ideas, there is no proof of being able to take or reclaim territory from demons.” [Ibid., italics theirs] Fisher is right on target. NARians travel the globe claiming to take “authority” over demonic activity. However, local, state,  and world news report a much different story: Those pesky demons are still active and wreaking havoc. Could it be that the NAR’s claims are without merit? Could it be that the New Apostolic Reformation–which is plagued with heretics, false prophets, and blasphemers–is overshadowed by demons, and is paving its dirt road for the antichrist?

Final answers? Yes, and Yes. Simply put, crime is on the rise, and crime will continue to rise and become more sadistic until Jesus returns (study Matthew chapter 24 for details). Jesus didn’t mince words. He gave an outline of things to come. Later, the Holy Spirit inspired the apostles to issue warnings about things to come (study the Apostle Paul’s letters to Timothy).

Indeed, C. Peter Wagner needs to be asked, “Specifically, which city or state or territory has been cleaned and fumigated of all demonic activity?” If his answer is, “Gee, I don’t know,” then NARians everywhere should mentally delete Wagner’s “revelation knowledge,” gain knowledge from what God has already said in His written revelation, and consult Ephesians 6:13-18; Acts 19:13-16; Jude 1:9 and, 2 Corinthians 11:13-15, which specifically teaches:

For such men are false apostles, deceitful workers, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ. No wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. Therefore it is not surprising if his servants also disguise themselves as servants of righteousness, whose end will be according to their deeds.

The Apostle Paul wrote it, and the Holy Spirit inspired it. Welcome to the New Apostolic Reformation.

Therefore, as the kingdom of NARia continues its ill-fated battle against demonic activity, and as the NAR continues to gain converts, one battle the Wagners are facing is their declining health, which reads like a Who’s Who within the medical kingdom.

Signs, but no wonders

According to NARian-produced newsletters, updates, and prayer requests over this year, the  Wagners have been under extensive medical care for a long period of  time. Doris Wagner suffered from infectious diseases, placed on hyper-antibiotics, diagnosed with a heart tumor, and underwent  operations on her knee. Currently, she is scheduled to undergo major knee surgery. C. Peter Wagner has a lingering cough, swelling
in both legs and abdomen, problems with his heart, and has been placed on blood thinners. He is scheduled for cataract surgery in both eyes.

Like the average human being who reaches the elderly stage of life, Peter and Doris Wagner suffer from illnesses, diseases, and sicknesses. It’s a given. But, unlike
the average human being, NARians think they are special, an attitude which is demonstrated by their exclusive, elitist mentality. After all, they are what makes up the “signs and wonders” movement, where almost everyone is said to operate in all of the
spiritual gifts, including the gift of healing.

While there is no humor in human suffering, when the chips are down, where are all the NARian faith healers? Why haven’t they flocked to Peter and Doris’ side and  demonstrated their gift of healing for the world to see?

Could it be that the “signs and wonders” movement is all signs and no wonders? Perish the
thought. How dare anyone even suggest such a thing! Those who do could be accused of “attacking the anointed” and “judging falsely” and acting like a “Pharisee”.

Trail of lies

Common sense dictates that if just one NARian had the Biblical gift of healing, he or she would jump at the chance to lay hands on Doris and Peter, and heal them from head-to-toe through the power of God. Since “teleporting” here and there is part of the signs and wonders movement, travel expenses would be kept to a bare minimum.

But it ain’t gonna happen! Hyper-Charismatics who are caught up in the “signs and wonders” movement demonstrate plenty of signs, but they leave people wondering what the heck is going on. Simply put, they do not have the Biblical gift of healing. Again, they do not have the Biblical gift of healing. The sick and dying show up to be healed, and they leave unhealed.

Faith healers can’t heal Peter and Doris, and Peter and Doris can’t heal each other.  therefore, Peter and Doris are forced to turn to the field of medicine for their healing.

All liars know that a lie must be backed-up with another lie to cover the first lie. This is one
reason why heretics and false healers spew excuses, play spin-doctor, intimidate their followers, issue threats, and exercise damage control over their own words–and their followers eat it up! One lie leads to another lie, until the liar gets so confused that he or she can’t recall the lies. It is then when the liar becomes a pathological liar.

Liars work hard to cover their lying tracks, but they always leave their getaway cars in the front yard.

Finally, this update on the unhealthy state of Peter and Doris Wagner would not be complete without leaving the reader an important, but ironic, point to ponder: during C. Peter Wagner’s tenure at the Wagner Leadership Institute, he taught a course on “Divine
Healing”. The “Course Description” states,

This is a classic foundational class on divine healing. Topics include performing the works of Jesus, the role of faith in healing, ways in which one can verify miracles, healing as it relates to God’s kingdom, healing as part of the atonement, and the substance of the anointing. (

Is there something wrong with this picture? C. Peter Wagner taught courses on divine healing, but he doesn’t have the gift of healing. Hmmm, perhaps he should enroll in his own course.

Shout out to C. Peter Wagner:

Instructor, instruct thyself. Stop leading the sick and dying astray, and stop instructing a course on a gift you never had in the first place. Better yet, repent, be born again, publicly renounce the NAR and its false “Jesus,” and warn your fellow NARians to do the same.

Indeed, precious souls for who Jesus Christ died for hang in the balance.

“Not everyone who  says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who  does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter. Many will say  to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and  in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?’  And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you  who practice lawlessness'” (Matthew  7:21-23).

Now you are the body of Christ, and members in particular. And God has set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then

    **gifts of healings**,

helpers, administrators, various kinds of tongues. Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles?

**Have all the gifts of healing?**

do all speak with tongues? do all interpret? But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet I show unto you a more excellent way.
    (1Co 12:27-31)

It would be fair to say that Paul the Apostle had a “gift of healing”, by the many who were healed in his ministry.

But he couldn’t just “use” the gift anytime he willed, as he couldn’t help Trophimus:

Erastus remained at Corinth: but Trophimus have I left at Miletus sick.
    (2Ti 4:20)

And neither could he heal his own eye condition:

And my trial which was in my flesh you despised not, nor rejected; but received me as an angel of God, even as Christ Jesus. Where is then the blessedness you spoke of? for I bear you witness, that, if it had been possible, you would have plucked out your own eyes, and have given them to me.
    (Gal 4:14-15)

Every gift of the Spirit is truly as the Spirit wills. If it can be done as man wills, then it is not truly a gift of the Spirit.

Some people can demonstrate their gift of tongues when asked to. That is not the gift of Tongues if a person can just switch it on anytime they will to.

.On Peter and Doris being sick : it’s good for those who teach that Jesus still heals today to get sick ocassionally, as it hopefully keeps us from feeling superior or arrogant. Bcos the Truth of God’s Word never rests upon one’s personal experiences or testimony.

Many people today surmise that Jesus no longer heals today based solely on the fact that they have never experienced healing : the faith is experiential and not based on God’s Word.

Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him. Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months. (James 5:14-17)

I believe the Lord still heals today according to his will. He also answers the prayers of sick people to heal others.

Declaring themselves apostles without the signs of an apostle is their error. Truly the signs of an apostle were wrought among you in all patience, in signs, and wonders, and mighty deeds. (2 Corinthians 12:12)

Your post is a little difficult to understand or could it be that I’m just dense!
Anyway, to address your bottom line, I believe that God can heal anyone He chooses anytime He chooses! As far as the gift of healing is concerned, it was a temporary sign gift to make the spoken message at that time believable. I don’t see anyone who can exercise that gift today at will. (Rom. 12:7-8) In other words, if you have a particular gift, you should have the ability to control it. As one commentator stated, “The gift of healing wasn’t meant to be used just to keep Christians healthy!” I wish I knew someone who had the gift of healing! Two and a half years ago I was diagnosed with incurable blood cancer. The Lord has been incredibly gracious to me and even though I still have this disease, through the use of certain medicines I look forward to many more years in his service.
For what it’s worth, I leave you with the words of Spurgeon:
“In the matter of faith healing, health is set before us as if it were the great thing to be desired above all other things. Is it so? I venture to say that the greatest earthly blessing that God can give to any of us is health, with the exception of sickness. Sickness has frequently been of more use to the saints of God than health has. A sick wife, a newly made grave, poverty, slander, sinking of spirit, might teach us lessons nowhere else to be learned so well. Trials drive us to the realities of religion.”

    God bless you.

Man’s attempt to solve spiritual problems using worldly/man centered means.

    ian vincent and all:

When on the subject of healing, what needs to be realized is that those who claim to possess all the gifts are those who have no gifts at all, and the claims are not confined to the hyper-Charismatic movement.

A video or film is composed of numerous frames. One reason I wrote the article on the Wagners is that I want people to step back and look at the entire film, as opposed to focusing on a single frame.

Peter and Doris Wagner are in bad shape physically, as well as spiritually. They and their fellow NARians have convinced untold numbers of people that ALL of the gifts are available and in full use by those who truly believe. This simply isn’t true. In fact, their claims have caused a tremendous amount of damage through the years, and have caused well-meaning but ignorant people to shy away from or dump Christianity altogether.

Peter and Doris Wagner’s ill-health is proof-positive that the gift of healing does not exist within the hyper-Charismatic movement. Even something as simple as wearing eye-glasses should be enough to demonstrate that their leaders can’t heal each other:

False teachers within the hyper-Charismatic camp have at least two things in common: 1. lack of discernment. 2. inability to heal the sick and dying through the power of God. Indeed, if they were Christian in the first place, they would have the ability to discern truth from error, and wouldn’t be false teachers. If they had the Biblical gift of healing, Peter and Doris Wagner (and others within the hyper-Charismatic camp who suffer from illness and disease) would be healed and in good health.

“Revelation knowledge” and living in “perfect health” are catch-phrases with false teachers and faith healers. Yet, they are caught in lies time-and-time again, and the sick and dying leave “healing” crusades sick and dying. In fact, many have died as the result of being told they are healed.

While I believe that God is active in the lives of Christians, I have yet to hear about one person being raised back to life from their cemetery grave. Can God do it? He certainly can. But, is He doing it? Not that I am aware of. Will He do it? Yes, when Jesus returns for His saints (1 Corinthians chapter 15).

Therefore, let us take God serious, and not work our minds into a frazzle trying to figure out something that isn’t meant for us to know. Let us step back and look at the entire film of what God is trying to show us.

Let us trust in the Lord and draw closer to Him–no matter what–and believe He is in full control. I have tried the opposite, but it didn’t work. I can’t make it through one moment of the day without Jesus. His grace is truly amazing.

Here’s the bottom line to those who believe physical healing is in the Atonement. It must be an all-or-nothing proposition. Even if this ‘divine right’ is construed as only applicable to those with ‘enough faith,’ it has been proven utterly false. Here’s why: the logical conclusion is that those who adhere to this belief and have enough faith (if that’s a requirement) should never die, i.e., if said individual gets sick, they should be healed so that the sickness will not result in death. Using E.W. Kenyon, Kenneth E. Hagin and Hobart Freeman as a few examples, we can see this doctrine is false.

Having said the above, this does not mean that God cannot heal as He most certainly does. However, we’ve not yet reached immortality. Our ultimate healing comes upon the resurrection of the saints as Bud has pointed out above.

    Dear Sir,

Any spirit that can be controlled by man is not God the Holy Spirit.

God never puts Himself under man’s control.

In the NT record, there never was a case of anyone exercising spiritual gifts AS THEY WILL, but it was always done as the Holy Spirit willed.

This is the mistake the NAR and people like Benny Hinn made.

The beliefs and practices of the NAR ( or anyone) have absolutely no bearing on whether the Word of God is true or not.

is there anyone who wants to discuss what the Bible says?

Your stating that “It must be an all-or-nothing proposition” is an excellent point. It either works or doesn’t work. If they had the gift of healing they could stop disease in its tracks, prevent people from dying, and even raise the dead from their cemetery graves.

Bill Johnson, Todd Bentley, and others within the New Apostolic Reformation always hoot and holler about the “healings” taking place here, there, and everywhere. HOWEVER, let someone show up confined to a wheelchair with a debilitating disease or AMPUTATED LEGS, and the plans change super-quick-fast. When they aren’t healed, the excuses overflow like sewage from a septic tank. And, who suffers? Those who seek to be healed, and those who may be searching for truth and Christ.

I wonder how many unsaved people have left a “healing crusade” or a three-ring circus revival and said, “If this is Christianity, I want nothing to do with it”?

Where is the sympathy for the sick and dying who struggle to attend a “healing crusade,” and leave sick and dying, and even die a short time later? Where is the sympathy for their families and friends who took care of them? There is no sympathy from the faith healers, only excuses.
Yet, real Christians grieve and pray for those who are caught under the spell of of the falsies.

In the case of the New Apostolic Reformation and all the non-Christian “isms” it incorporates, it began as nothing and ends with nothing. The same applies to the cults. It doesn’t matter how kind and sincere they are, because if they aren’t serving the real Jesus of the Bible, they began with nothing and will end with nothing–unless they repent, that is.

Craig, keep up the good work…

Any person claiming Apostolic ministry (eg. all Roman Catholic popes) outside the Apostles listed in the scripture canon closed at Rev 22:21 is a false apostle for claiming an unauthorized ministry.

The purpose of people being assigned the title “Apostle” in the Bible is because their teaching and ministry was the source of Bible written text.

Bible Apostles were commissioned by Jesus Christ during his physical presence on earth approx. 2000 years ago and they had to demonstrate true godly signs and wonders to prove their authenticity to teach doctrine and fulfill Bible prophecy about establishing the new covenant surrounding Jesus Christ’s death and resurrection, for the Christian life and ministry that the God of Genesis 1:1 wants.

“The god of this age” (the devil – 2 Cor 4:3-4) has an alternative agenda and uses false apostles who manifest lying signs and wonders to accompany false teaching.

Once the Bible was closed at Revelation 22:21 the Bible became the authority and church leaders became subservient to its teachings.

False church leaders claim authority over the Bible to be interpreters that people must obey, or they just go ahead and teach “extra revelation” absent from the Bible. For example, Roman Catholic popes preside over unbiblical teaching and practices that are idolatries of a false Christ. A false Christ leads to eternal damnation which is tragic for participators in Roman Catholicism.

Signs and wonders, eg. walking on water, miraculous healing, raising the dead, are only effects that operate outside the regular universe laws such as gravity and decay processes such as sickness and disability.

The designer of the regular universe laws is the God introduced at Genesis 1:1.

Decay processes are the consequence of sin – the fall of man.

Significant Bible events incorporate specific signs and wonders that operate outside the regular universe laws to prove the God of Genesis 1:1 is involved.

The devil will attempt counterfeits to deceive, but these can be discerned and rejected.

Two examples of significant events requiring accompanying true signs and wonders are:

    1. The Israelite exodus from Egypt to Canaan (eg. various plagues, parting of the Red Sea, supply of food and water)

    2. The transition from old covenant to new covenant surrounding the first arrival of the Messiah and Saviour of mankind, Jesus Christ (eg. sickness healing, casting out demons, etc.)

True Godly miracles may still occur in the present era according to God’s agenda in specific circumstances, participators don’t require any person title such as apostle/prophet/pastor.
Miracles in the present era should be tested against scripture to make sure no aspect of them or teaching associated with them contradicts scripture in any way.

Apostles outside the Bible written text are unauthorized by the fact that the Bible canon is closed at Revelation 22:21.

We are not permitted to go “outside the box” of correctly interpreted Bible written text.

God has restricted himself inside a “box” of perfect truth and perfect righteousness.
The devil and his followers always operate “outside the box” of truth and righteousness, or often a mixture of truth and falsehood to present a more plausable appearing counterfeit.

Deceivers are asserting “don’t put God in a box” to justify mixing fraud, sorcery, unbiblical teaching and unbiblical practices into Christianity.

Any claim for Apostolic ministry since the Bible was closed at Revelation 22:21 creates a vacancy for the devil to occupy for being an attempt to claim something not authorized by God.

The principle is never claim a ministry or attempt to practice something not authorized by God (as tested against scripture counsel) because the devil can occupy the vacancy you create with your improper intention.

Unauthorised Apostles are false Apostles and therefore can only represent a false Christ.

They are apostles of the antichrist and this matches the claim of Peter Wagner and all other NAR participators about a new era of ministry for new apostles, the “New Apostolic Reformation”.

NAR is actually an Old Sorcery Revival (OSR) proved by the corruption it has introduced into churches through practicing sorcery and spirit channeling such as Toronto “blessing” and unbiblical teaching such as bogus spiritual warfare antics (theories and practices that actually glorify the devil and make Christians look like idiots and waste time that should be spent doing what God wants.

    Christians are foolish for participating.
In many cases it is ignorance, but that excuse is not permissible indefinitely.

See this visual spectacle of Rick Joyner associated sorcery in one of his synagogues of Satan (Rev 3:9-11).

That is a live show of people being molested with sorcery – a combination of mind control psychology and evil spirits.

Rick Joyner is a significant leader of apostacy through his influence in NAR and in the Roman Catholic Vatican as one of their Knights of Malta.

New Apostolic Reformation associated leaders manifest lying signs and wonders to prove they are disciples of the devil and therefore fulfil Bible prophecy:

2 Thes 2:9-12 The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders, and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
And for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie, that they all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

Christians who refuse to consider the possibility they are participating in fraud are showing they do not love the truth.
We must always be open to challenge about what we participate in and promote.

Not loving the truth (being alert to the possibility you could participate in deception) is dangerous.
It can lead to a strong delusion sent by God, which means a point of no return, irreversible damnation.

This is why blogs like this one and similar ministries are so important.
It is to prevent “the slaughter of the sheep”.

They are ministries of God to assist a remnant for truth (authentic Christians) in dark times.

Some Christians are heading to the lake of fire through deception and attempts should be made to rescue them:

Jude 1:23 snatch others from the fire and save them; to others show mercy, mixed with fear–hating even the clothing stained by corrupted flesh.

Whilst that scripture may apply mainly to unsaved people, it can also be associated with Bible warnings about believers who fall away from the faith:

2 John 1:8-9 Watch out that you do not lose what you have worked for, but that you may be rewarded fully. Anyone who runs ahead and does not continue in the teaching of Christ does not have God; whoever continues in the teaching has both the Father and the Son.

More fear of the lord and less fear of men such as NAR deceivers is required in the Christian community:

Prov 29:25 Fear of man will prove to be a snare, but whoever trusts in the LORD is kept safe.

Dominionism = establishing the kingdom of the antichrist to rule the world and preempt the return of the true Jesus Christ.

Christians shouldn’t help set up the kingdom of the antichrist by participating in dominionist beliefs.

    Doctrines of demons

Peter and Doris Wagner will probably not be healed because “there is not enough faith for them” in the Christian community.

That is a typical improper excuse given for presumptuous miraculous healing attempts that fail.

Sometimes it pays not to have faith.

Not to have faith in false apostles such as Peter Wagner and other New Apostolic Reformation associated leaders.

Or maybe the healing failure will be blamed on a “critical spirit” in referring to opposition such as myself and others.

“Critical spirit” implies a demon that manifests with criticism.

New Apostolic Reformation participators defend their teachings against critique with the names of demons because their teachings are the doctrines of demons (1 Tim 4:1-3).

They have a list of demon names (Jezebel, Baal, etc.) to support the false spiritual warfare ideas they promote.

They need the names of those demons because their teachings can’t be defended by scripture alone.

This shows that Christians should stop using the names of demons to defend anything, and they should burn all books that use the names of demons to indirectly support spiritual warfare teachings.

The only demon name the Bible gives us to use is Devil, Lucifer, fallen angel, as being the instigator of sin, lawlessness, deception, acts of the sinful nature, lying signs and wonders, etc.

All the false spiritual warfare theories are the devil’s suggestions about how to deal with the devil.

That is a cunning ploy to distract Christians to neglect their defense from the devil using scripture alone (following sound biblical teaching alone).

Once the devil isolates Christians from scripture alone he can infiltrate the church and molest people unhindered with false teaching and Toronto “blessing” type sorcery ministry.

Jesus Christ demonstrated defense using scripture alone when approached by the devil, always citing “It is written……..” – see Matthew 4:1-10

Christians need to go back to the “It is written…..”, the full counsel of God given in the Bible written text Genesis 1:1 to Revelation 22:21 and not be tricked to waver from this.

I use this log system to help maintain the discipline to keep reading the Bible regularly and get a variety from different parts of it.

See also Bob Dewaay’s “False spiritual warfare” Part 2 and “Word of faith” “you are gods” heresy refuted.
