Heretic Alert: Tony Jones

Psalm 51:5

Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.

I don’t really believe I need to post any commentary on Emergent church author and speaker, Tony Jones.  His nonsense speaks for itself.  However, I will say a few words on one of his latest posts from his blog.  He maintains that original sin is not Biblical.  What he has effectively done to those who put credence in his words is amputate the whole of salvation and Christ Jesus’ atoning work from the Bible, and has set them on a works-based path that will lead to nothing but destruction.

Man is born in sin.  Period.  Without that precept, you doctrinally nullify the need for a Savior, and Jesus is shown the door; He is effectively booted out of the church.  I find it amazing when man rewrites God’s Word and tells Him it doesn’t really mean what He says it does.  They may not know it, but that is essentially what they are doing.  Thank you, but I’ll listen to God’s Word instead of these heretical teachers who in no way represent God, Jesus Christ, or His Word.

But, don’t take my word for it, read Tony Jones’ words yourself by clicking here

Job 15:14  What is man, that he should be clean? and he which is born of a woman, that he should be righteous?

Romans 5:12; 14:

12  Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:

14  Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam’s transgression, who is the figure of him that was to come.

    Chrystal:

Here is my response to Tony Jones’ article (in case they don’t post it):

Tony Jones’ article, “Original Sin: A Depraved Idea” is a depraved idea from his vain imagination, and demonstrates how easy it is to be conditioned and deceived into believing a lie. Worst yet, Tony Jones is calling God and His written word a liar:

“If we say that we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar and His word is not in us” (1 John 1:8-10. See also Romans 3:9-20).

We are witnessing the Biblical warnings unfold before our very eyes:

“For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires, and will turn away their ears from the truth and will turn aside to myths” (2 Timothy 4:3-4).

People do not have to be deceived. Stand strong for Jesus Christ. Study God’s written word and trust it over-and-above what men with depraved ideas say.

I keep thinking “nothing from the emergent church surprises me anymore”, and then they do. Those of us who love and adhere to sound biblical doctrine are fast becoming the minority.
