As time goes by, more light is being shed on the circumstances surrounding the separation of Todd and Shonnah Bentley. While we continue to glean more insight into the travesty which is the Lakeland Outpouring, please don’t forget to remember Todd and Shonnah Bentley in your prayers. Let us also consider ourselves, not thrusting upon ourselves the cloak of hypocrisy and unrighteousness. Let us consider ourselves, lest we too should stumble.
Here is the latest news from Fresh Fire Ministries:
Aug 15 – From the Board of Directors
We wish to thank all of our friends and partners for the overwhelming flood of support and compassion we have received as a ministry on behalf of Todd and Shonnah Bentley. The many phone calls and emails of concern from people who genuinely love the Bentleys and Fresh Fire Ministries have been a great encouragement to all of us here during these past few days. In particular, the rallying of support and prayer for Todd and Shonnah by prominent leaders within the Body of Christ has been a beautiful indicator of the maturity and grace the Lord is bringing to his Bride.
We wish to acknowledge, however, that since our last statement from the Fresh Fire Board of Directors, we have discovered new information revealing that Todd Bentley has entered into an unhealthy relationship on an emotional level with a female member of his staff. In light of this new information and in consultation with his leaders and advisors, Todd Bentley has agreed to step down from his position on the Board of Directors and to refrain from all public ministry for a season to receive counsel in his personal life. I’m glad to hear that Bentley has agreed to step down and refrain from public ministry, but this should have happened a long time ago. Given the false doctrine he teaches, he should have never had a platform within the church to begin with. When something like false doctrine isn’t enough to stop a man from preaching heresy within the church, it seems like marital strife is. Are people now and only now beginning to pull away from Bentley? That is not how things should be. Still, there are those who follow and defend him regardless. How sad.
My mind goes back to Bentley’s commissioning when Stacey Campbell, Che Ahn, and others were prophesying over Todd as if they were speaking the very words of God. Was God not wise enough to foresee all of the sinfulness in Todd’s life? Was God wrong, or were these so-called prophets speaking out of the abundance of their own wickedness instead of out of direction of the Holy Spirit when they were puffing up Bentley and prophesying over him that he was a mighty man of God? I’m thinking that Campbell, Ahn, and others may be regretting their zeal to jump aboard the Bentley bandwagon today. I’m hoping that those who follow these false-prophets will see this and flee. Still, if history is any indicator, they will not. They will continue in their wickedness, rejecting God’s truth and holding onto a lie. We should all be in constant prayer in these last days.
