Harlem Shake – C3 Church Style: Jesus vs. Satan

A friend on Facebook posted this video and I thought I would pass it along as a companion post for my previous one concerning the Harlem Shake at Saddleback Church’s High School Ministry.

The following video is from C3 Church (not sure which campus).  You think Saddleback’s was bad?  Take a look at this.  This version of the Harlem Shake pits Jesus against the devil.  Of course, C3 doesn’t get much of anything right when it comes to Christianity.

Check it out:

I have noticed a few posters who have blown this off as kids having some fun. I just finished reading Leviticus-the whole theme of that book has to do with holiness-we are to be holy as He is holy. Fine, if you want to look like an idiot, go ahead; just don’t do it in God’s House. And for those who many think I am a prude and legalistic-that’s not true. I’ve lived a life looking just like those in the videos-been on both sides-This is just unacceptable behavior in a place where God is SUPPOSED to be worshiped.

  2. Jesaja 66:2 says:

Terrible… if that’s really from inside a church.
Where is the fear of the Lord?
Or is it a sign of judgment “…God gave them up…”?!

  3. Rev. Kate says:

    What the heck was that?

What are they trying to portray? What does that mean… we’re laughing so hard here looking at that garbage. Well, really now, what can we all expect from, The Entitlement Generation? Exactly that.

Stupid looking, stupid sounding, stupid; there are no other words to express their stupidity!

PS–And I do not have to accept anything this Entitlement Generation does; happily neither does anyone else…if they’re smart. They are bottomless pits which can never be filled…never.

    VERY STRANGE!

  5. gracealone1 says:

This is a mockery of the Lord Jesus Christ, the cross upon which He died, and the worship due unto Him.

This is the worship of demons and a submission of the minds of the participants to his control.

This is a sex orgy of the mind and will eventually be done in the flesh, if it hasn’t already.

This IS the judgment of God upon the churches (?) that promote, encourage, and indulge in this debacle of sin—1 Peter 4:17.

This IS the final installment of Romans 1 (v.28) where God gives sinners over to their “debased minds.”

If you participate in this, or encourage others to do so, or find it to be ‘no big deal’ perhaps you should examine yourself to see whether you are born again or not. 2 Cor. 13:5.

    History

The Harlem shake is a dance that originally began in Harlem, New York, in 1981.[1] Since its beginnings it has spread to other urban areas and became popular in music videos. The self-purported inventor of the dance was “Al B”, a Harlem resident.[2] Because of its founder, the dance was originally called the “albee” in Rucker and Harlem, but then later became known as the Harlem shake.[3]

Al B is quoted saying that the dance is “a drunken shake anyway, it’s an alcoholic shake, but it’s fantastic, everybody appreciates it.” He said it comes from the ancient Egyptians and describes it as what the mummies used to do.[3] Because they were all wrapped up, they couldn’t really move, all they could do was shake.[4][5] Al B states that he has been doing the Harlem shake since 1981. The dance first caught on at the Entertainer’s Basketball Classic or EBC and spread from there to other areas.[3]

And by the way the translation for the 1st line of the lyrics are:

    Con los teroristas=with the terrorists

Wonder if the kids even are aware of this….doubt it

If this is how these young people’s sense of Christianity is starting out, what will it look like at the end?

  9. Berean Gal says:

    This is just sickening.
A stench in the nostrils of the Almighty God.

  10. PrayingForMercy says:

OH MY GOODNESS! This is a Church? It looks like it’s the MTV heathen awards! Why don’t they just come out of the pagan closet and admit they love satan? They could still keep making money to, just look at hollywood! Disgusting! The True Church of Christ is not in any of these buildings, it’s gone underground!

  11. Derek says:

MAN, all you people are SO judgmental. Christians are one of the worst to judge, even though we are told to love. Read your comments–they are filled with statements that point right back at yourself in one way or another. Take the plank out of your own eye. He who is without sin, cast the first stone.

    • Berakah says:

@Derek-take time to read the banner at the top of this home page-I think that is the point of the whole dialogue here-raising the warning flag to believers about the abuses going on in the Body under the guise of the church. I can’t imagine how this behavior can be glorifying to God and in these Last Days Scripture is being fulfilled with itching ears being tickled at every turn. The Apostle Paul did say that we are to judge those within the Body-I think that is what is going on on this site. I think the very fact that we do love our Savior most of all makes these actions on video so grievous.

    • Derek, I strongly encourage you to look up the biblical definition of ‘judgmental’. You are doing the very thing you accuse us of doing…judging. This is NOT about who is without sin, this is about what is acceptable before a thrice-holy God! Worship should be approached with a heart that has been prepared for worship. There should be great reverence and awe of this magnificent God. This garbage is nothing more than a herd of unregenerate sinners copying the world, dragging it into the visible church, and proclaiming it to be acceptable before a God who is holy, just, mighty, omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent. Let us gather to worship Him with great reverence, with humility, and most important of all…with an understanding of who He is and what He has done.

Derek, are you born again? How do you know if you are?

  12. Rev. Kate says:

    Derek–do be cool, man!

This site is as harmless as it is challenging and a boatload of fun, especially when you get to know everyone.

So, come aboard and have some fun! :) K
