A God Encounter

Paula White, “pastor” of Without Walls International Church, is having a “God Encounter” at her church with James MacDonald’s spiritual brother, T. D. Jakes.  I know James MacDonald, pastor of Harvest Bible Chapel, sees Jakes as a work in progress, but judging by the company Jakes keeps, MacDonald really has his work cut out for him.

When MacDonald posted on Twitter and lauded Jakes’s biblical savvy, I was astounded that he could possibly see Jakes in such a light.  After all, Jakes is a Word of Faith teacher and TBN darling.  He rubs elbows with the likes of Paula White, Benny Hinn, and many others who are of the same ilk.  I wonder how MacDonald feels about Paula White.  I wonder, since they teach the same doctrine, if MacDonald could give her his same stamp of approval?

See what Jakes is up to and tell me if you see him in the same light MacDonald does.  I’m afraid I can’t agree.  How about you?

  1. Very flashy video, designed sophistry of the highest order. Subtly deceptive reasoning or argumentation or augmentation. It augments everything but God, yet it appears to be of God.

Honestly, let’s be frank: White and Jakes are self-aggrandizing masterminds of the highest order. Living as they do, with their oh-so-amazing charisma, their beautiful personas can charm the coins from all keepers of purses and wallets who don’t have higher intelligence to see thru it all.

    The Ten-Trillionaire Televangelist
    By Robert Winkler Burke
Book #4 of In That Day Teachings

One day a televangelist appeared on the scene,
He was handsome, charismatic, lean, not mean.

He said, Hello World! Give me your tithes!
He broadcast a wild show, it was quite a ride.

To one hundred-forty nations his show was sent,
From one hundred-forty nations came tithes’ ten percent.

At that time the world’s income was one hundred trillion,
And, by golly, he received ten-thousand billion!

Ten-thousand billion was his wonderful income,
Which was ten trillion, give or take a million.

As he had more cash than any known government,
Ambassadors from the US and China were sent.

Please help us, oh televangelist, they asked of him,
Would you buy us an aircraft carrier, or moon landing?

Our nations are broke, said ambassadors of the world,
Build us a freeway, or school, or tractor for field!

All the world’s excess cash has gone to you,
What, oh great man of God, with it will you do?

The world was quiet that day, waiting to hear,
What the richest man of God would say sincere.

But he said, Sorry to inform you, oh ambassadors,
I spent it all on myself, and perfume for my whores.

Did you think I’m not subject to the maxim,
Power corrupts: It did with my tithe taxing!

Don’t blame me for wasting all the world’s wealth,
To stop waste, oh world, keep your money yourself!

But honestly and quite frankly, since the world is so cotton-picking gullible,
I’ve decided to now become the world’s first quadrillion evangelist lovable!

But the government said, Well then, since you’ve given us the ax,
We declare that you’re a business, not church, and owe us great tax!

But the televangelist took off for new planets in his private starship rocket,
Proving no one could stop this televangelist on Earth from lining his pocket.

Chrystal, I think I would have titled this:
Hands raised in an encounter with Paula White, where we worship a God without walls.

Hi Kate. I just noticed your post today when I read a newer post on an older thread. Well hi back. Sorry it only took 10 days for me to see it…. I’m doing good m’dear. It’s great to be back. I still can’t shake that picture of you walking down the dark street in your hoodie with a stick….

I missed everyone here as well and glad to see the site back up and running. You are all important. It’s always comforting to come here where the Holy Spirit is ministering through discernment by his Word,…. a rare and wonderful thing these days. With so much happening in the world, it’s nice to have a group of comrades to share the faith once delivered as well as maybe some common feelings of frustration and a Scriptural encouragement to hope.

Sometimes I show up to the site feeling rather battered, one ear shredded, a few band aides over my left eyebrow and a clump of wool missing from my throat. But then when I hear your comments, a couple of Scripture verses, I am revived and renewed. It’s always good to hear from other sheep….every comment is appreciated.

    Word of faith heretics!

  5. Eli says:

Has anyone else seen the adverts on tv about Oprah’s live “global school” and T. D. Jakes is one of the “teachers” along with Depak Chopra. Nuff said about T. D. If he’s rubbing elbows with the likes of Guru Oprah and Depak, that tells us all we need to know about Jakes.

  6. Teresa says:

    Eli,
When I read your comment the first thing that came to my mind is this. T D Jakes can hook up with these guys because they serve the same Jesus but of course not the Jesus Christ of the bible.
They serve the jesus of the New Thought/ transcendental meditation/ new age movements. The word of faith movment was birthed from the New Thought movement. Oprah and Depak both are New thought/new age. God’s speed Teresa

    Hi Carolyn, Kate

    • The problem with modern Churchianity, is that its broadcast leaders are happy to say that humans are fallen creatures and therefore sin, they JUST DON’T BELIEVE in preaching that they or their congregation are included in that. Therefore, over time, they develop into creatures of warped perceptions and extreme stupidity, neither of which they are then capable of seeing.

Here is what Craig Bernthal wrote regarding possibility thinkers, sometimes called Romantics, who don’t ever teach, don’t ever preach, don’t ever think that they — themselves — are possible of self-dealing shenanigans… and moral failings. (It’s the problem with Churchianity, TBN, Benny Hinn, T.D. Jakes, even David Barton (!) et al. They preach man sins, but — not them, and we lessors will never understand why they must self-deal so much! We’re not to look behind the curtain! We are never to check their other hand, which is in the cookie jar of self-dealing!)

“Chesterton understood, way early in the game, the tendency of Romanticism to produce cultural elites. Commenting on Thomas Carlyle’s love of the aristocracy, Chesterton cautioned:The weak point in the whole of Carlyle’s case for aristocracy lies, indeed, in his most celebrated phrase. Carlyle said that men were mostly fools. Christianity, with a surer and more reverent realism, says that they are all fools. This doctrine is sometimes called the doctrine of original sin. It may also be described as the doctrine of the equality of men. But the essential point of it is merely this, that whatever primary and far-reaching moral dangers affect any man, affect all men. All men can be criminals, if tempted; all men can be heroes, if inspired. And this doctrine does away altogether with Carlyle’s pathetic belief (or anyone else’s pathetic belief) in “the wise few.” There are no wise few. Every aristocracy that has ever existed has behaved, in all essential points, exactly like a small mob.
The men who wrote the constitution and debated it in The Federalist Papers had a deep understanding of universal human moral failure. They tried to write a document that would protect us against ourselves. But the moral aristocracy has now grown to include perhaps the majority of voting Americans. Despite tough economic times and an Islamist threat which is still very much alive, we are living in the “circumambient gas.” I don’t think we can stay there forever.

  7. Carolyn says:

A God Encounter of the Fourth Dimension. We cannot encounter the God of the Bible without the Bible. Although these people pretend to. When you bring down the walls of Truth, Wisdom from the Word, you are left without the walls of orthodoxy that protect the sheep. You are left with something strange and different something that does not produce genuine faith. (witchraft perhaps?) Just a continual chasing after the strange “annointing” and imaginative teachings of the whore of Babylon. She is leading away from the Word. What should we do with teachers that lead away from the Word and teach things contrary to the teaching we have received?
17Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and AVOID THEM.
18For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple.
19For your obedience is come abroad unto all men. I am glad therefore on your behalf: but yet I would have you wise unto that which is good, and simple concerning evil.
20And the God of peace shall bruise Satan under your feet shortly. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.

With their charms and flatteries, their broad smiles and smooth speeches, the are leading away from the word, causing divisions. If you don’t flow with their counterfeit teachings, they point you to the door. Well, for the true Christian, they should not wait to be asked. Don’t walk, run!!!

Mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which you have learned….and avoid them. Don’t share the same platform, don’t go to their conferences and don’t share their delicacies. They are anathema.
    Hosea 4:6
My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.
