Harold Camping – The World Will End on October 21st – Maybe

Harold Camping is at it again.  He predicted the world (or the rapture) would occur on May 21st.  When that failed to materialize, Camping explained that he had miscalculated.  It’s really gonna end on October 21st.

Here we go again.

Don’t cancel your health insurance or sell your personal belongings.  You’re gonna need ‘em, folks.  I don’t know when the rapture will occur, but I can tell you it won’t happen on October 21st.  Really!  It won’t.

  1. Would it be wrong for me to wish that on that date Camping is beamed back up to the mothership, never to be heard from again?

  2. Kevin Kleint says:

I’ll see you all on October 22nd!

    • Kevin… you bet!

Jennifer… I would prefer that he never be heard from again, but if the mother ship wanted him, he wouldn’t be here in the first place.

      Sorry… couldn’t resist.

  3. Grant says:

I know this could be a cruel idea but what if someone staged some props of emptied clothes, shoes etc outside his house or radio station

would that be too sarcastic if so I am sorry but he really needs some help in his thinking process

  4. Kiwi Dave says:

This is the true mission of Harold Camping, and the work of the master he serves:

How many more people will die unnecessarily after October 21st? This evil old fraud has a LOT of blood on his hands!

  5. stan says:

These 5 months have flown by. I almost forgot about this false teacher who even had the media making sport of his eccentricity. Well, can’t wait for the spin he puts on it after 21st. Oh wait, he has that prepared. It’s a “quiet” event now, invisible except to him and his followers. Pathetic.

  6. Scott Hart says:

Actually, to say the rapture definitely won’t happen October 21 is as wrong as saying it definitely will.

    “For no man knows…”

Keep ready despite those that would differ from our Lord’s exhortations.

    • Scott,

And that’s exactly why I say it definitely WON’T happen on the 21st… because no man knows the day or the hour. If Harold Camping says he knows it’s that day, that tells me it definitely isn’t.

  7. seeker3k says:

October 21st is my mother’s birthday, so isn’t convenient.
Can end of the world / rapture / UFO mothership visitation be postponed to 22 October?

Luke 21:8 and related warnings of deception and false prophecy.

  8. Scott Hart says:

I like that reasoning, Chrystal. Thanks.

  9. ali says:

The last time Harold Camping predicted the end – he had a stroke – wonder what might happen this time.??.

Between Harold Camping and the kooks at Westboro Baptist Church…..

  10. SLIMJIM says:

Sometimes people amaze me. You would think after 1994 and May 21st 2011…it’s over for him

  11. Street Preacher says:

    Well thanks again Harold!
I did get angry at first…..another round of heckling about the Rapture and how Jesus was supposed to come back etc etc, but after thinking about it, in some ways, it gets people thinking about the Rapture. It also shows Jesus is absolutely right about false prophets arising and people saying, about Jesus return, here He is or there He is (Matthew Chapt 24).
I see a great opportunity to witness for the Lord Jesus through this.
Oh, by the way, the Jehovahless Witnesses’s proclaimed the end was due in 1975 (amongst other years). Great little opportunity to preach on that one too!

  12. Carolyn says:

I wouldn’t mind if he came on the 21st. That would mean I wouldn’t have to take that 14 hour claustraphobic flight on the 22nd to Taiwan again…I could just meet my family on the other side.

This is how it will be in the last days living with delusion. Christ warned us. This is a perfect example of why people (myself included) get disappointed that he has not come yet. Because we impatiently want to pinpoint an actual date instead of really listening to what he said. It becomes about US knowing something, US wanting a piece of the action, rather than about watching for HIM, paying attention to HIS plans.

Yes we should study prophecy to gain understanding. Once we do the paradigm shift to focus on the big picture…time speeds by.

  13. Rev's Kate & Rich M. says:

Nothing like adding to an already stressed out world on the brink of financial and emotional disaster–brilliant man that he is.

Okay, so… well here we go! I hope Mr. Camping has recuperated from his recent stroke–he seems to be in fine form again, which I am happy for him and his wife; if I were wifey though, I’d book a long trip and get the heck out of town– but first I’d wrap his mouth in tape. :) K

  14. Rev's Kate & Rich M. says:

Kiwi!!! I forgot, you’re at the International Dateline–ugggh, do we have to do this again? Looks like you’re goin’ first–but I clearly remember talking to you — am I losing my wits?

Well, see ya then, buddy! K

  15. Kiwi Dave says:

The pentecostal evangelist and false prophet Richard Heard “prophesied” in 1980 that the Great Tribulation would commence in 1984 when the EEC became the EU. Of course, like Harold Campings “prophecies”, nothing happenned. Mind you, remeber all that garbage about the end of the world and the Y2K bug back in 2000? The UPCI took out newspaper ads saying that 2000 would see the return of The Lord.

“The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun.” Ecclesiastes 1:9 KJV

“What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun.” Ecclesiastes 1:9 NIV

  16. Carla says:

Someone (an unbeliever of all people) brought the point of how a lot of middle class Americans fell for this man’s lies because they might feel their world falling apart and without hope, it made me think. This is what happens when the true hope of the cross is not preached, people will follow the lie.

  17. Truthinator says:

As Porky Pig would say, “This guy is emotionally unbal…emotionally unbal… he’s a nut!”

  18. M'Kayla says:

    What a koo-koo head.

  19. tiffany says:

No one can predict the exact day that the world will end. an 90 year old man can not predict something like that, he’s pretty much on his death bed – no offence but he pretty much is. All these people believing this and defending this guy – do you honestly really want to die? Cause i sure don’t, i’m not sure about any of you but i have an expiration date and it’s not til i’m a 90 year old lady predicting my time to go. His world may be ending soon but mine sure isn’t.

  20. Rev's Kate & Rich M. says:

@ Street Preacher–don’t get miffed, it’s not worth it–just keep praying.

    Ms. Carolyn–ahhh, Taiwan again, huh? The 22nd? Yeah well, I’m throwing a bash–will miss ya. :) K

  21. ian vincent says:

    Son of man, these men have set up their idols in their hearts, and put the stumblingblock of their iniquity before their faces: should I be inquired of at all by them? Therefore speak unto them, and say unto them, Thus says the Lord GOD; Every man of the house of Israel that sets up his idols in his heart, and puts the stumblingblock of his iniquity before his face, and comes to the prophet;

***I the LORD will answer him that comes ACCORDING TO the multitude of his idols;***

That I may seize the house of Israel *** in their own heart ***, because they are all estranged from me through their idols.

    (Ezekiel 14:3-5)

God gives people what they want. If they want a Harold Camping, God will give him to them.

  22. Kiwi Dave says:

    @ Carla, that’s a very valid point!

@ Kate, glad to hear from you. In real life, I’m glad Harold Camping announced October 21st! I had completely forgotten I have an appointment with a specialist on that day! So, I’ll see y’all right back here on the 22nd!

  23. Eli says:

I think it also lends even more credibility to the “…thief in the night…” scenario we get from scripture. the more Camping is wrong, the more people will stop looking and be caught unaware, believer and unbeliever a like. which leads my thinking straight to Peter, scoffers in the end times “where is the promise of His coming”. We are so close!!!

  24. Carolyn says:

    M’Kayla – that was deep….giggle

  25. Ruitje says:

I called my hairdresser this morning for an appointment. It will be on October 21st…

  26. Diatra says:

Just another way for Satan to dull the hearts and minds of the people.

  27. Truthinator says:

Let’s say for the sake of discussion that a sudden raprure occured on Sunday morning before church. Would there still be a pretty good attendance with flashing lights, rock bands, thug-looking preachers, and so forth at many American churches? I am afraid so…

Sound the alarm and you will become very unpopular with worldlings but you will be faithful to God!

    Truthy

  28. Kevin Kleint says:

Hey! i’m still here! Did I get left behind??

  29. ray says:

Its the 22/10/2011 down under and has been for 7 hrs, so to you folks still trapped in another time zone on 21/10/2011 , all I can say is unpack your bags and wait for the next boarding call.

  30. Sean says:

God has been very merciful with this nut so far.

Camping should appreciate the time the Lord has given him and finally repent of his false prophesy.

    3 strikes Harold. It’s over.

  31. Rev's Kate & Rich M. says:

Good to see everyone is intact. :) K

PS–be ready anyway, ya never know!

  32. Kiwi Dave says:

I didn’t even realize that it was the 24th local time. Maybe Harold will say that the rapture will happen on Chistmas, then New Year, then Easter and so on…… Is there any actual news regarding the reaction to another failed rapture prophecy of his?

  33. Sean says:

This so-called “ministry” has the gall to appeal for more donations Saturday, AFTER their date for the end of the world. This is beyond contempt.

If they truly cared for their flock, they would confess to them that they sinned through false teaching and encourage their followers to pick up Bibles to find the truth.

Regarding this matter the Biblical Truth is simply summed up:

    1. Jesus is still going to return to judge mankind.
    2. The timing is UNKNOWN.

Camping has sinned repeatedly by disobeying the Word and setting dates. His organization should quit asking for more money and repent already.
