Those of you who are familiar with Manasseh Jordan know how he works. He’ll start by saying, “C…C….I’m getting a C. Is there someone here named Cathy? Christina? Cait?” Chances are, if he’s not pulling a “Peter Popoff” on the audience, he’ll find someone with those names. Once he calls them out, he dazzles the crowd with his power by prophesying over them.
While I was watching this video, I was thinking about Paul and Ananias in the 9th chapter of Acts. You know that story. God spoke to Ananias in a vision and told him to arise and go to the street called Straight – then He instructed him to go to the house of Judas and there he would find a man from Tarsus named S.
Okay, God didn’t say that.
What God said was that when Ananias got to the street called Straight, he should inquire at the house of Judas for a man from Tarsus named SAUL. I am totally positive that Ananias didn’t go to the street called Straight and say, “I’ve got a J…. Jim…. Jack…no…Judas! Okay then, now I’ve got a S. Steve….Sam….Seth….no, SAUL!!!!”
Could you imagine what it would have been like if God had revealed Ananias’s mission to him by saying, “Ananias…get up and go to the street called S and inquire in the house of J for a man from T who is named S.”
We happen to have a credible transcript of what God said:
10 Now there was a certain disciple at Damascus, named Ananias; and the Lord said to him in a vision, “Ananias.” And he said, “Behold, here am I, Lord.” 11 And the Lord said to him, “Arise and go to the street called Straight, and inquire at the house of Judas for a man from Tarsus named Saul, for behold, he is praying, 12 and he has seen in a vision a man named Ananias come in and lay his hands on him, so that he might regain his sight. “ 13 But Ananias answered, “Lord, I have heard from many about this man, how much harm he did to Thy saints at Jerusalem; 14 and here he has authority from the chief priests to bind all who call upon Thy name. ” 15 But the Lord said to him, “Go, for he is a chosen instrument of Mine, to bear My name before the Gentiles and kings and the sons of Israel;
16 for I will show him how much he must suffer for My name’s sake. “ 17 And Ananias departed and entered the house, and after laying his hands on him said, “Brother Saul, the Lord Jesus, who appeared to you on the road by which you were coming, has sent me so that you may regain your sight, and be filled with the Holy Spirit.”
Because God spoke so clearly, Ananias was able to get right up and go on his mission. God spelled it out to the last letter. Not only did he give Ananias the name and home town of his subject, but he also gave him the exact street and house number where he could find him.
Manasseh Jordan is performing parlor tricks… nothing more.
