Jason Hooper: Drunk Driving

Jason Hooper, Todd Bentley’s revival and ministry sidekick, had a car accident in Australia.  According to reports, Hooper had been drinking double-shots of scotch for at least three hours before the accident.

This is a report from the Daily Telegragh Australia:

A VISITING American evangelist who claims healing powers has walked from a NSW court without even a fine despite driving 110km blind drunk and crashing into a parked car.

Self-claimed “prophet of God” Jason Hooper – touring with Hillsong protege Ben Hughes – declared God had forgiven him for his double-shot whisky binge that ended in a mangled wreck on the Mid North Coast.

“I’ve worked it out with the Lord. I was wrong,” Hooper told The Sunday Telegraph.

It was a miracle the Christian revivalist, with a huge following in the US, didn’t cause further turmoil on the Pacific Highway earlier this week after driving with a blood alcohol level of .206.

Hooper not only had God on his side but magistrate Wayne Evans who let him go, saying the preacher was a “person of good character” under a lot of “ministerial pressure.”

Updated to add:  For those who aren’t familiar with Jason Hooper, here are a few details.  He was a key member of Joyner’s pastoral team for years, but now claims to be a revivalist with the spiritual powers of healing, signs and wonders, etc.  He’s a buddy of Todd Bentley, and you can see him ministering in the video below.  This will give you an idea of exactly how Hooper ministers.  (He’s the one who introduces the song.)

After getting busted for DUI in Australia, it looks like Joyner may need to do another restoration, yeah?

May be Jason Hooper went to Todd Bentley to get the transferible anointing. And now they all are drunk in the ‘spirit’…

I think they have not heard what is written in Titus 1:7,8
“For an overseer, as God’s steward, must be above reproach. He must not be arrogant or quick-tempered or a drunkard or violent or greedy for gain, but hospitable, a lover of good, self-controlled, upright, holy, and disciplined.”

  2. Ruitje says:

Hooper is also a ‘friend’ of Rick Joyner. Will Joyner now be restoring Hooper too?

  3. SirDent says:

You know, backsliding isn’t something that just happens all of a sudden. It is a process which starts and takes time to come to full term. This man should have recognized he was in trouble a long time ago.

God will forgive you for sins, but restoration likewise takes time. Who would listen to him now? I know I wouldn’t.

  4. jasonTHEmoment says:

Praise God he is from Morning Star. He can get incredible counseling and be restored. I hear they are incredible at restoring ministers.

Here’s the problem with all these people ,they proclaim them selves prophets and apostles and there in lies the problem, they are not called of God and therefore are not under his covering and protection and satan can lay waste to them anytime he so choose’s.It is a dangerous road they walk.

‘he also will drink the wine of God’s wrath, poured full strength into the cup of His anger, and he will be tormented with fire and sulfur in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb.’ Revelation 14:10

‘In the hand of the LORD is a cup full of foaming wine mixed with spices; he pours it out, and all the wicked of the earth drink it down to its very dregs.’ Psalm 75:8

‘But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars–their place will be in the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.’ Revelation 21:8

Those with eyes to see and hearts to believe know that our Almighty God has it ALL under control, BUT – ‘Woe to those who rise early in the morning, that they may run after strong drink, who tarry late into the evening as wine [or double-shots of scotch] inflames them!’ Isaiah 5:11

Sounds like Jason Hooper to me.

These guys try to come across as progressive and yet it all sounds like a secularized jam session from vh1 and nothing more

    ugh

  9. turtletruth says:

Not seeing much mention of this out there on his buddies sites…do the followers not know about this yet?? I wonder….My hubby said that to drink as much as he did means he has a great tolerance. and he has had it for a while….

  10. Randy says:

Good grief!!! At a blood alcohol level of 0.206, most of us would be in a stupor. Motor coordination would be minimal and I would be surprised if we could stand never mind remember that we stood. I would not be surprised to find out soon Jason is being counciled for alcohol addiction then put right back into ‘ministry’ once he is restored. Given the liquor load he was carrying, this is probably not the first time this has occurred.

Deacons, in the same way, are to be serious in their behaviour, not false in word, not given to taking much wine or greatly desiring the wealth of this world; -1 Timothy 3:8

In most Australian states the BAC is .05, this guy is like 5 times the limit and most likely close to unconciousness, this dude wasn’t just drowning his sorrows, he was on a bender. To me this indicates a systemic alcohol problem, but then, anyone and anything asocciated with Todd Bentley has a systemic problem.

  12. Mike A says:

You don’t wake up one morning and decided to start doing shots of strong drink; you build up to it. No restoration will be done by the NAR folks because they will see nothing wrong with it. THAT is what is disturbing (and I am quite certain an angel of the fallen persuasion is what saved his neck in court).

  13. Paul Gesh says:

The only miracles happening in this video are the ‘disputable kinds’—the healing of non-visible illnesses which are not immediately verifiable —like the “healings” of knees, elbows, backache, spine, etc. What happened to great healing miracles like in the Bible? The Blind SEE—The Deaf HEAR—The Lame WALK—The dead RAISED! INSTANTANEOUS! COMPLETE!

  16. Carolyn says:

Consider some of these verses. I believe God is exposing these false prophets and depending on what people want, they will either wake up or continue on in their stupor.

    Isaiah 28:7
And these also stagger from wine and reel from beer: Priests and prophets stagger from beer and are befuddled with wine; they reel from beer, they stagger when seeing visions, they stumble when rendering decisions.

    Jeremiah 2:8
The priests did not ask, ‘Where is the LORD?’ Those who deal with the law did not know me; the leaders rebelled against me. The prophets prophesied by Baal, following worthless idols.

    Jeremiah 2:26
“As a thief is disgraced when he is caught, so the people of Israel are disgraced— they, their kings and their officials, their priests and their prophets.

    Jeremiah 4:9
“In that day,” declares the LORD, “the king and the officials will lose heart, the priests will be horrified, and the prophets will be appalled.”

    Jeremiah 5:31
The prophets prophesy lies, the priests rule by their own authority, and my people love it this way. But what will you do in the end?

    Jeremiah 6:13
“From the least to the greatest, all are greedy for gain; prophets and priests alike, all practice deceit.
    Jeremiah 8:1
“‘At that time, declares the LORD, the bones of the kings and officials of Judah, the bones of the priests and prophets, and the bones of the people of Jerusalem will be removed from their graves.

    Jeremiah 8:10
Therefore I will give their wives to other men and their fields to new owners. From the least to the greatest, all are greedy for gain; prophets and priests alike, all practice deceit.

Jeremiah 13:13
then tell them, ‘This is what the LORD says: I am going to fill with drunkenness all who live in this land, including the kings who sit on David’s throne, the priests, the prophets and all those living in Jerusalem.

As it was then, so it is now. We are either in the Word, wanting to hear His words to us or we are caught up in this spurious endtime “revival” with its abundance of signs and wonders. We are either experiencing the assurance of our salvation and growth and stability of our faith or we are stumbling around in the dark, singing the Hokey Pokey and grasping at whatever illusion can make us “feel” good. We are either waiting for our King from heaven, or we are trying to set up one here on earth. There is no middle road. I think that is the lesson we are being taught.

  17. Carolyn says:

oops. Got a verse in there about some bones. That is a bonus. :-)

  18. Eli says:

Amen Barry! You summed it up pretty well. I could only stomach about a minute of the video….good grief charlie brown! the irreverence is thick enough to cut with a knife.

  19. Daffydil says:

I actually watched this entire video (I usually don’t). While I find it disrespectful of the the true work of the Holy Spirit, I was hoping the young lady at the end really was healed. The whole song in itself was a bit, well, – I found the overall tone to be rather sexual and would not be surprised to hear someone like Beyonce put different words to it and gain herself another top 10 hit. I don’t think anyone in the remnant will be singing this. I do think this kind of false worship is what grieves the Holy Spirit. This is so sad.

  20. Carolyn says:

As I was reading through some of these chapters about the drunken prophets and priests, I noticed a few things.
Like how angry the people became when confronted by what God was saying to them…and of course they took it out on the prophets…”Jeremiah must die!!” (Chrystal gets the same treatment today.)
Like how God’s solutions were too simplistic for them…they trusted in multiplied deceptions to secure their peace and safety… they preferred everything from their own political schemes and alliances to worldly techniques and teachings. They trusted anything but what God was saying to them.
Like how God was stressing to them that although they liked to trust in deceptions, he was the only one who could deliver on promises. And besides that, it was HIS judgment, not the conquest of earthly enemies that they needed to fear, because it was HE who makes kingdoms rise and fall. Their fate rested, inevitably with their choice of leadership… HIS or their own.
Even when the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, people would not listen. Because the Word would not bend to their ideas of political reform and setting up a literal kingdom with promise of material blessing, they rejected him.
And now, these new prophets and teachers. In the video, the worship leader said, well, “let’s just start singing the hokey pokey and see where the spirit leads”. Anybody else see how crazy that sounds?
How about let’s start with a passage of Scripture that we don’t quite understand, look up some commentaries online or otherwise and get some curiosity going as to what the Word(God) is saying to us. And then see where the Spirit leads.
He will lead in paths of salvation, through streams of healing waters, up mountainsides of overcoming strength, through searches along pathways of truth beyond our understanding, through springs of living water for abundant living and across rich fields of His joyful wisdom and everlasting love.
Yes, if ever you find yourself shaking an arm or leg to the hokey pokey, give your head a shake instead, get outta there and start listening to the true prophets and priests of God. The ones who don’t get drunk on spirits but are filled with the Spirit and the Word of God.

The following story might not be a surpise to some in light of this article and what happened with TB but could provide an answer why drinking surrounds their ministry. I live in a town right next to Lakeland, FL. We all know what begun back in 2008 in Lakeland. Let me take you back a few years (2002-2003) to the same city (Lakeland). I was involved with a new church (church was not located in Lakeland) that had begun in 2001. Somehow, the church’s music department came in contact with a woman in Lakeland that taught music and also helps out churches in the music area. Our church was small and some on the team needed some extra lessons and help. So, in time we would go (I think once or twice a month) to this woman’s home where she taught music. We also found out that she would have Saturday night worship in her house. As time went on, our church leadership was approached by this woman. She asked them to come up under another ministry. The church was an independent church – not affiliated with any denomination or group. She told the leadership that if you come up under this ministry (she named it), all would be provided for. At that time, the ministry she named – our leadership didn’t know much about. All that they did know, was in a positive light from others. As the leadership prayed about it, two things started coming to light that the church didn’t know about. 1st – our leadership team notice that on the Saturday night worship that most of the people in that place had been divorced. The woman that run the ministry was married and a baby on the way. One thought was maybe this woman and her husband has this ministry to help divorcees. Still, a red flag was inching its was way up higher and higher with our church leaders. 2nd – since music was taught in her home, everyone saw inside her house. One day, some in our church happened to walk past the refrigerator while someone else had it open and saw a case of beer in it. To our leadership team, another red flag. Our leaders sat down with this woman to discuss the drinking issue. The woman cited Leviticus 10:8-11 as being ok to drink but you can not drink before going in to minister. Shortly after this conversation, our church broke any relations that were left with this ministry. Now, when I say this ministry – it is two-fold. This woman had a ministry that taught music and helped other believers in that area. But, she came under another ministry. Its that ministry that she tried to get our church to come under. That ministry name is Morning Star – Rick Joyner. Thank God that didn’t happen with my church. The rest of the story ended sadly for this woman. Within a year of our meeting with her, her and her husband divorced. Why is there drinking and seems like divorces with people that are affliated with this ministry? It only comes from one source – the head, the leadership. Not saying Rick is going to divorce his wife. Just saying, when you allow drinking and allow people in your ministry to divorce and remarry at a whim – the outcome will not be good.

Let me add this, on the Saturday night worship meetings – it was always centered or about dreams.

Dear Saints, time is short – eternity is forever – Be sober and alert, the devil is prowling. He is not only prowling outside the church but he is also inside the church. Be students of the word. I will conclude with words from a real Revivalist – Leonard Ravenhill: “Are the things you living for worth Christ dying for?”

    Blessings

Disturbing video footage, what does Almighty and Holy God have to do with the hokey pokey?Nothing and they can dance and sing to it all they want but in God’s eyes it doesn’t mean a thing.I would like for one of them to tell me that if Jesus was present in that meeting he would be doin the hokey pokey, now I know I would be accused of havin a religious spirit and it wouldnt take very long for someone there to point that out and yet they r so blind to the fact and truth that what they are doin I beleive is blasphemous.C’mon people could u really see Jesus having a gathering where he instructed the musicians to start playin the hokey pokey and than he encouraged everyone to join in?No he wouldn’t and he wasn’t askin the people at morningstar to do it either and for that matter he wouldn’t be askin anyone to do it anyplace ever. The only one who gets a big laugh outa this is the devil,he’s a mocker and although these people don’t know it he is mocking them, and mocking them before God.I like hokey pokey,it’s my favourite kinda ice cream, and it’s full of nuts, they like the hokey pokey and they r just plain NUTS.

  25. Barry says:

As I was driving home this evening I was thinking about what I watched last evening in regards to the hokey pokey video.I want to share this and ask the body to pray about it,as I would like to know for certain I was hearing thew Lord. The thought came as I was driving and it was this.hokey pokey-hocus pocus.I am thinking there is a connection here somehow but I don’t want to say I heard the Lord speaking if I didn’t.Hocus Pocus is a term used in magic shows and as we know there is deception in magic, just as there is deception in what I saw in that video. It really floored me when I heard the words.I beleive that when these folks do the actions to the song something is happening in the spirit but it is not good, they are opening themselves up to the enemy. Please pray and share if the Lord is speaking to u and if u have a witness in your spirit that this is a word from the Lord or not.Thank you.Barry

Jason Cooper has served his master the Devil well, and will be rewarded for this with a better position with Todd Bentley and lots of money! He has turned all those Police Officers, Traffic Safey Officers and members of the public away form God – that was his job! That’s also the job of Todd Bentley – to turn people away from the One True God by either dragging them into the whole WOF/NAR false “revival” with all it’s Dominiionism theology or simply truning prople away after they see the filthy fruits of the evil spirits.

  27. gnt says:

These people are having parties in Christ. I’ve been to them. But some throw off the liberty we have to be a slave to holiness and fall into spiritual pride and other sins.

  28. Kiwi Dave says:

@ gnt, a “slave to holiness”??? We are commanded by God Almighty to be holy, as it is written:

“Sanctify yourselves therefore, and be ye holy: for I am the LORD your God. And ye shall keep my statutes, and do them: I am the LORD which sanctify you. Sanctify yourselves therefore, and be ye holy: for I am the LORD your God.” Leviticus 20:7 – 9 KJV

“Be you therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.” Matthew 5:48 KJV

“And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” Romans 12:2 KJV

“But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.” I Peter 1:15 & 16 KJV

  29. Well to a former christian like myself , this incident shows what a sham religeon is , it has no power to transform or improve anybody .Judging from the facts about this guy’s court appearance and sentence ( he recieved a very light sentence for the charge ), it may look like Hillsong’s lawyers paid the magistrate off . Which goes to show in the “christian ” world , it’s all about “the appearance” rather than the substance . Jesus (if he did ever exist ) was right to remark about the “whitewashed walls ” of religeous “leaders” (that’s if anybody is stupid enough to follow these people )

  30. Just carrying on this theme about christians’ love for “appearance ” over substance . Take abortion for example (i’m against abortion by the way ) , christians love to be seen railing against abortion by their fellow believers , however I ‘ve noticed in the industry I work in how much they LOVE abortion when it comes time to cover up the fact that they, their mothers, wives, girlfriends, sisters and daughters “have not being living by the word of god “-obviously when it comes to public scandal; a human baby’s life is worth less than their “reputation”. Also, whenever their favourite political figure /administration is in power , abortion figures stay about the same (certainly no perceptible decrease ), so their religeon /”witness” has no effect on the outer “pagan” world and certainly deserves the rest of the world’s derision .

    Ministerial pressure
    ===============

Jason Hooper was excused by the judge for simply being under “ministerial pressure”.

It is correct that Jason Hooper would support himself from the pressure of his ministry with alcohol because he is an evangelist for a false Christ that might properly be called MammonJesus.

    From Wikipedia:
Webster’s dictionary defines “Mammon” or “Mann” as:
    1) the false god of riches and avarice.
    2) riches regarded as an object of worship and greedy pursuit; wealth as an evil, more or less personified.
Winston defines it to mean: 1) wealth, worldly gain; 2) greed for riches; cupidity.

MammonJesus is simply a demonic entity hiding behind a “Jesus mask” created by false teaching such as what is promoted in Rick Joyner’s Morning Star, Brian Houston’s Hillsong, etc.

A typical sign of MammonJesus is a strong affection for money collecting (eg. Brian Houston).

It will also be correct for Jason Hooper to give in to sexual immorality when he next comes under “ministerial pressure” (eg. tomorrow) because that is the kind of indulgence the false god he actually represents encourages.

Sadly, many observers of these disgraceful outcomes will be unaware of the Bible warnings of frauds like Jason Hooper and the antichristian teachings they promote.

Their offence may lead to them hardening against the true Jesus Christ because they reason that God isn’t stopping the abuses of his “followers”.

Luke 17:1-2 Then said he unto the disciples, It is impossible but that offences will come: but woe unto him, through whom they come!
2It were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he cast into the sea, than that he should offend one of these little ones.

The Bible gives extensive repeating warnings of fraud, and this Jason Hooper incident is a proof of those warnings.

Matt 7:15-16 “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles?

Here are the “fruit” the Bible is referring to:

Acts of the sinful nature – the fruit of false ministers

Gal 5:19-21 The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.

The fruit of the Holy Spirit – the fruit of authentic Christian ministers

Gal 5:22-24 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the sinful nature with its passions and desires.

The real conclusion of this Jason Hooper incident is read the Bible more to understand the nature of fraud that will occur.

Then make sure you don’t participate in that fraud, eg. have nothing to do with Brian Houston, Hillsong, Rick Joyner, Morning Star, Jason Hooper, and anything connected to them or having similar ways.

That is one way to prove you actually love the truth.

2 Thess 2:9-12 The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders, and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie, that they all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

Thank God for giving us these warnings in his Bible so that we can be safe from harm.

  32. Aaaah yes “going back to the bible” to support your argument , well anyone who is or has been in the christian religeon (of any stripe) , knows very well that you can make the Bible say anything you like -just ask Feminists, Fundamentalists, Creationists , Christian Liberals , Liberationists, Racists etc. etc. etc. So since this is plainly so , the logical explanation is that it can’t be relied on at all and therefore can be safely ignored and discarded as the overwhelming majority of the world’s population have done to it . Be blessed :-)

Chrystal, on a related subject, Todd said he God had told him to have a 30 day “revival” in Virginia Beach starting June 27. Did it ever happen? I haven’t heard a thing, so perhaps God changed his mind! More likely it was a flop. I can’t access the Fresh Fire web site so can’t check. Perhaps you could do a new post on this?
