For years we’ve been watching as the Word of Faith and Prophetic Movements try to convince the church that man is divine – a little god. Jesse Duplantis attempts to drive this point home in this video where he says Adam breathed the breath of life into man, not God.
Duplantis says that when God created the animals, he didn’t know what they were. He said, and I quote, “God made animals and didn’t have the foggiest idea what they were. Want me to prove it to you? Turn with me to the book of Genesis, chapter 2. You think I’m joking? I’ll show you something right now.
“Genesis, chapter 2. God made a horse and didn’t have the foggiest idea what a horse was. Made a horse out of the dirt, standing there like a mannequin, looking at Him like that. Had no idea what it was, He just sculpted it. I’ll prove it to you, Genesis, chapter 2, verse 19: ‘And out of the ground the Lord God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air, and brought them –’ Look at me! Look at me! He didn’t walk them! He didn’t fly them! He brought them. Watch me. (Duplantis picks up the podium.) Pick it up, bring it over there. ‘He brought them…’ watch this, …’unto Adam to see what he would call them.’ He didn’t know what it was – He just made something. He said, ‘What do you think that is, Adam?’ Adam’s a speaking spirit. He said, ‘That’s a horse.’ (Duplantis then Whinnies.) ‘Hey, Adam!’ Do you know that they were not alive when He brought them? He didn’t walk them. He brought them. They were just like Adam was. Adam was created in the image of God. He was a speaking spirit like God is. Let me show you. Let me just show you if you don’t believe me, watch this – this will bless you – watch this. ‘And out of the ground,’ verse 19, ‘the Lord God formed every beast of the field and every fowl of the air and brought them to Adam to see what he would call them; and whatsoever Adam called every creature…’ what? Living! They weren’t alive! They were just like him, formed out of the dust of the ground.”
But that’s not what the Bible says. If you’ll flip over to Genesis 2:19 and read it in context with proper comprehension, the scripture says they were alive:
Genesis 2:19:
And out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field and every bird of the sky, and brought them to the man to see what he would call them; and whatever the man called a living creature, that was its name. (emphasis mine)
Duplantis is placing emphasis on the wrong words here. He is basically saying that whatever Adam called “a living creature” came to life, and he had to tell God what that animal was.
This is offensive and just plain wrong. God, who is sovereign, is yet, once again, being abased below the wisdom of sinful man, and man is exalting himself. Duplantis holds to the doctrine that men are little gods, which he can’t support biblically. This is false doctrine – a doctrine of devils.
Let’s follow this thought through to it’s most logical end. If God created “dead” animals, or “ungenerated animals” and had Adam breathe into them the breath of life, who gave life to the creatures in the sea? According to Scripture, in one chapter earlier (Genesis 1:21-21), God brought forth the creatures in the sea and not only were they alive, but He was even smart enough to create them alive:
Genesis 1:20-21:
And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven. And God created great whales, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good. (emphasis mine)
Now, if we apply Duplantis’ same interpreting skills to this verse, it looks like the waters created the life within them. But if you’ll read the rest of the verse, you’ll see that “God created whales, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly….” Scripture isn’t hard to understand if you read it literally. However, if you twist it, warp it, and mold it to fit your doctrine instead of building doctrine on what it really says, you’re going to get a message that says God is stupid and man is divine.
Watch and see.
This is a very blatant display of false teaching and I’m quite certain that this isn’t the only time such has occurred from the mouth of Jesse Duplantis.
Thank you for sharing this.
I’ve added a link to this post, to my blog and I’m looking forward to reading the comments that follow. I hope that people may be wise to see and discerning to hear that this is blatantly false and that it encourages greater discernment regarding those that teach similarly to this, especially if they endorse Jesse Duplantis’ ministry to their congregation.
Pastors, as shepherds are to protect their congregation from falling victim to this type of false teaching. They are wolves disguised as sheep and will suffer the consequences of their deceitful doctrine.
Entertaining. False as false can get….but entertaining. Jesse is charismatic, and fun. I like his personality and delivery. Too bad he hasn’t a clue. My guess is most of the people there in the audience don’t either.
Truly disturbing misinterpretation of Scripture! God help us.
I guess Eve was inanimate when God brought her to the man and didn’t live until he called her “woman.” When Mr. Duplantis brought his fiancee home for the first time to meet his parents, did she come to life when his parents called her by her name? Must have been because you can’t bring anyone anywhere unless they’re inanimate while they’re being brought, according to this clownish character.
What laughable nonsense. Speaking of laughing, Jesse is laughing all the way to the bank. What a great business plan religion can be. First, zero investment. Just make up stuff, even if you get it out of your hat (like Joseph Smith did literally) and people will come and throw money at you. You get a following, honors and a TV show.
Yet, he and others like him won’t always laugh.
This may be just outrageous enough to cause some who are caught up in WOF to wake up. It’s like God has graciously placed the equivalent of Big Ben next to their comfy beds.
Isn’t this disgraceful? I bought the Justin Peters seminar and watched it several months ago and it features this exact same video. Then in my men’s group during the week, we have just started watching and we see the session the other night which featured this blasphemous piece on it. Disgusting!! The other guys (who are new to dealing with WOF) thought he was such a clown. In a way he is, but a dangerous one. It is sao sad how many people drink this rubbish up and it crushes me inside to see them moving away from a reverant and humble relationship with God to one where they esteem loud-mouths who are a few sausages short of a barbeque.
Well, this happens to be the ONE time that Duplantis isn’t bragging about his bank account, his wife’s bank account or his ability to pay off his daughter’s car. This man doesn’t preach – he brags……and brags…….and brags! The one thing that amazes me more than anything is this world, and I’ll say it again, is the gullibility of the Christian audience. As long as people accept this con artistry as Biblical correctness, it will not stop. As long as people keep sending them money, it will NOT stop.
My husband is a seminary-educated Baptist minister and I was raised in a traditional Pentecostal church. We constantly sit in amazement at the lack of discernment within the Church as a whole today. What has happened to “thinking” people? What has happened to “reading comprehension”, especially in the reading of the Word of God? I have never seen so much “twisting of the Holy Scriptures” in my life. No wonder these con artists can manipulate and deceive, and constantly get away with it. Most pretend Christians today don’t want truth, they want magic. They don’t want to worship God, they want to be entertained. They don’t want to be told that they have sin in their life, they want to be sold a motivational CD.
So many church services are nothing more than a fireside chat with self-proclaimed gurus spouting off the latest weak version of Charismatic psychology. People want an emotional massage, not a Biblically accurate sermon. People want a show, complete with lights, camera and action. Why go to church today? Why not buy tickets to a David Copperfield show?
Think about it…….. The churches that are being built today do not remotely look like churches. They look more like theaters or nightclubs on a cruise ship. One of the large Baptist churches in our town looks more like a Marriott ballroom than it does an actual church sanctuary. So many churches have the black ceilings, track lighting, theater seats and surround sound. The only thing missing is the guy in the lobby selling popcorn, Coke and M & M’s. However, from what I understand, coffee is being served in the more “hip” church lobby. Think about it again…….a church member can’t get through a service without a Mocha Latte. Unbelievable…….
Thank God I saw true Christian tradition and heard Biblical truth before all of this insanity came to the forefront. Today, if people do not teach their families the truth of the Word of God, and do not attend a genuine, Bible-believing church that actually preaches the Gospel of Jesus Christ, we’re going to see a generation of people that won’t know the difference between Christianity, Wicca or Buddhism. Frankly, it’s a grief and a sadness to me. A lot of the so-called Christian “teachings” today are very closely resembling Wiccan and Buddhist teachings. The wolves have infiltrated the flock. God help us all.
Totally incredible. Was it just me, or did it seem like an air of discomfort even filled his audience. Maybe a little awkward silence? A little forced laughter? Like even these horribly misled sheep had a hard time following their shepherd over this cliff?
There’s the classic hypnotist’s call of “Look at Me! Look at Me!” He’s just making this rubbish up! I have no pity for thre people in that audience either! They’re getting that they ask for. This is what the WANT to hear! They want to be entertained, told blatant lies as it makes them “feel good about themselves”. They don’t to be told that they’re all all sinners, and without Jesus in their lives they’re going to spend eternity in damnation. They don’t want to give up their lives of worldliness, racism, lust, gluttony, and all sorts of other sins! They lke the “idea” that God is a fool and doesn’t know what he’s doing. They feel better about themselves and their favourate sins.
This is a display of what’s called “intellectual faith”. In their minds they can reason that “god” exists, but in their hearts and in their works they deny Him.
This man Jesse Duplantis is so blatantly a false prophet and his teachings so obviously unscriptural. The people in that congregation will never ever listen to anything other than what he has to say, because he’s telling them what they want to hear. Those people don’t want the light of the Gospel of Salvation or the truth of Jesus. They want the lies of Jesse Duplantis becuse he tells them what they want to hear, and they want to listen to the Gospel of The Devil becasue he tells them the lie they all love – that they are BETTER and MORE PRIVELIDGED than everyone else – even the Creator of The Universe who is God Blessed Forever!
Please remember that all WoF preachers are crooks. They’re just interested in making money. Questions of theology and doctrine are irrelevant to them. What they tell people will be based on what brings in the most donations.
@ Magnolia, whilst I agree with your comments (although be careful not to lump everyone together), I did wonder “what should a church look like?” Yes, the trend in many churches to model themselves on the entertainment industry is very disturbing, but equally we can’t claim that traditional styles of architecture are somehow biblically mandated.
Heresy!
@David Green,
One can only hope and pray that the eyes are opened. But if the delusion is from God himself, I think that the rest who follow are as delusional as the one who is deceived.
This is no more stupid and wrong as when Paul Crouch and Kenneth Copeland spoke the same words on TV to millions of believers. “I am a little god….”
After watching ‘Pastor’ DuPlantis…cough, cough…. tell his story about how he went to heaven and met up with God, well, I would not put anything past this liar….if some of you haven’t heard this tall tale you can find it on youtube still….it is mind boggling how any person with an ounce of brains can sit an listen to this trash. Like a previous poster asked….When will this end?
@ IWantthetruth
Yes, but another line has been crossed. The ‘little god’s’ lie was largely aimed at a believer’s authority. What is now being implied is that said ‘little gods’ have the power to create.
It is truly heartbreaking to see the large audience who sat for this heretical teaching.
How can so many view have such a distorted view of God – “God did not know.?.”
I do not know why Japan has been hit by the largest earthquake in history, followed by a tsunami and today much of this one proud nation lies in ruin.
I do not know why New Zealand has been hit not once, but twice by devastation.
I do not know why Haiti has been plagued by earthquake and disease.
I do not know why America with its acceptance of homosexuals in the pulpit and the military, with its forced sensitivity training for the military, with its refusal to support marriage as between one man and one woman, with it murder of millions of babies – refusing to ban abortion, with its propensity to call good evil and evil good has not.
“He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.” Matthew 5:45
“Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, this he will also reap.” Galatians 6:7
No, I don’t know why America has not, but get ready America, your time is coming.!!.
This “prophet” Jesse Duplantis and all the other WoF “ministers” approach the Gospel and the Bible will all the exact same mannerisms and respect of Used Car Salesmen!
This is shameful. I was literally cringing as I listened to and watched his performance.
Apparently, Jesse has no desire to seek out the meaning of the word ‘brought’ from the original language, instead of basing that entire part of his message on his definition of the English word. It’s clear, if he would actually look it up, that the animals were alive when God allowed them to come to Adam. Just another of millions of examples of ear-tickling, dangerous doctrine that has infiltrated the church.
I so agree with all the comments here. On the other hand, Jessie Duplantis “used to be” one of my favorites. I watched his show daily. Never had any money to send him, Thank God. But that’s besides the point. Probably most of the people in his audience don’t know any better (I didn’t), and they trust him implicitly. The only thing I can account for my getting away from that is my desperate need for truth (and websites like this one), and the fact that as a child I was brought up in a biblically sound church. When I heard Jesse tell his story of his trip to heaven, i began to loose interest, it just didn’t line up with what I’d read in the bible.
Yes, Kiwi, to us who know better, he is blatently false. But to those who don’t know any better, if they are baby Christians and WoF is all they’ve been exposed to, they don’t know any better. Yes, Magnolia, be thankful you heard the truth before all this insainity came to the fore front, many are not so lucky. The sad part is after awhile, like cult followers, they’re not interested in anyone but their “leader”. We have to get to them before that happens. We should all be thankful to God of how far we’ve come. as the saying goes, “If not for the grace of God, there go I….”
The only thing Jesse really has going for him, he is definatly entertaining. And that’s what keeps them going back for more. Sad sad sad.
I also wanted to clarify one thought. I fully believe that when it comes to scripture, not knowing any better is no excuse for anyone.
I know I have heard this before from JDP. This is the same man who claims that when you understand how to receive the blessing you get from giving you have unlocked the key to financial freedom.
My wife used to really love this guy – because of the entertainment. But she grew up in this mess – and we have been climbing out for a while. Old habits are hard to break – but the Word is unchanging an right there for us to see for ourselves!
Some very good comments-this Duplantis guy is obviously teaching heresy. One small point-if God had not given us the discernment to know that this is wrong, we might still find ourselves sitting in Charismatic churches.
Please remember that only reason that we can recognize the errors at all is because of God working in our lives. In His wisdom and for His own purposes, God allows some of our brothers and sisters in Christ to remain chained to heretical doctrines. They aren’t dumber than us, and we aren’t smarter than them-God has simply given us discernment.

Maybe I’m missing something here, but I read in the bible myself that IN John, Jesus says ‘Didn’t not the bible say that we are gods’ My understanding is that he is quoting Psalms…but I’m not sure how people think this is a wrong interpretation for WOFers
toe…
Who was Jesus speaking to? He was speaking to the Jews, not Jesse Duplantis, not anyone else in the WOF movement. He was not in any way telling them they were actual gods, but as they professed, they were experts at law, and God endued them with His authority. Since the jews were brought up in the law and the Scriptures, they would have known that. Also, Jesus and the Psalm He is quoting from reminds them that although they are speaking on God’s authority, they, who abused the authority given to them, would die like men. Read the whole passage and not just half a verse.
Here it is:
Ps 82:6 ¶ I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High.
Ps 82:7 But ye shall die like men, and fall like one of the princes.
Barnes Notes puts it like this:
But ye shall die like men You are mortal, like other people. This fact you have forgotten. You have been lifted up with pride, as if you were in fact more exalted than other people; as if you were not subject to the law which consigns all people to the grave. An ancient monarch directed his servant to address him each morning in this language: “Remember, sire, that thou art mortal.” No more salutary truth can be impressed on the minds of the rich and the great than that they are, in this respect, like other people—like the poorest, the meanest of the race: that they will die under similar forms of disease; that they will experience the same pain; that all which is fearful in death will be their portion as well as that of the most obscure; and that in the grave, with whatever pomp and splendor they descend to it, or however magnificent the monument which may be reared over the spot where they lie, there will be the same offensive and repulsive process of decay which occurs in the most humble grave in the country churchyard. Why, then—oh, why —should man be proud?
@ Toe: Jesus quotes Psalm 82:6 to the Pharisees “I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High.”
When God said here “I have said,” that referred to Exodus 21:6 Then his master shall bring him unto the judges; he shall also bring him to the door, or unto the door post; and his master shall bore his ear through with an aul; and he shall serve him for ever. What Moses wrote, that we translate “judges” here, in Hebrew is “Elohim” — gods!
So Jesus was saying that the Pharisees are known in Scripture as “gods” because they are the judges of Israel, having taken Moses’ seat, which was divided up back in Exodus 17 to judges of 10s, 50s, 100s, 1000s at Jethro’s suggestion. So Jesus calling himself the Son of God was not beyond OT Scripture since he as a man was using for himself when Elohim was also used about men in the context of Israel’s judges. They should have understood his use of the Psalm 82 and by its reference to Exodus 21.
The WOF teachers don’t understand the background of this exchange in John 10 to its roots in the Torah and Psalms, so they craft an ear-tickling doctrine that has no reference to what was written there or elsewhere in Scripture.
I hope I explained my thoughts well enough.
Stan
@Chrystal toe…also one commentary I read some time ago referred to these little gods as “rulers” . If you substitute that word, which makes more sense in our language, it means “those in authority” over others. That would include the Pharisees (rulers) of Jesus day and the rulers (judges, kings, priests) of Psalms and OT times. They are all just men who will suffer the same fate as all other flesh and blood.
Great posts everyone!
Magnolia…well said!
Berecah and others…I couldn’t agree more. He is a great entertainer with not a hint of conscience, not a morsel of humility and more tall tales than we have time for. Of him, this verse is true:
1 Timothy 4:2
2 Such teachings come through hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron.
Kiwi…just to give you a hard time…I didn’t find anything that could even rise to the level of, or remotely correspond to, “intellectual faith”. Pure fictional entertainment!
Mike A,
I appreciate your comments. I was in the middle of my seminary education when the first wave of this sort of thing started in the early 70′s. I’ve always wondered how folks get caught up in this type of religion. I had members of my church who were otherwise thoughtful people, who were drawn to it like a moth to the flame. They were forever telling me about some seminar they went to. Being from Texas, I had, whether I liked it or not, and I didn’t, a steady diet of what K. Copeland had to say.
It always mystified me. What do you think is the fascination or attraction? You mentioned “old habits….” Do you think it follows the model of addiction? Does it offer an escape? Is this what Marx was describing when he claimed that religion was the opiat of the people?
Anyway I would appreciate your thoughts.
To continue from my prior post: I believe that even if the WOF preachers understood that the actual background of John 10:34 does not support that humans are gods in the sense they portray, it would not deter them from teaching the blasphemy. There is simply too much money and prestige to be gained. They instinctively know that the masses with the itching ears for the “miracles on demand” doctrine will simply move on to another even more clever celebrity minister. Duplantis’ wild eisegesis of Genesis 2 is designed to keep these masses glued to the edge of their seat in his church so they will keep wanting hear the next installment he hatches out of his hat. He understands how to play this game. That is why he is so near the top of this WOF food chain.
@ Doug
Exactly! That’s what I was trying to say. The worst thing we can do is adopt a prideful-holier-than-thou mindset. More often than I’d like to admint, I have to repent and ask forgiveness for that. I have to remind myself I’m not better or luckier than they are. and remind myself to be thankful that God IS working in my life, and I no longer follow those false doctrins of men.
This is for those who advise us against contending for the faith by telling us to “be nice”. Flattery and glazing over evil with honey coated words never kept anyone from judgement. But warning them about what is at stake here, telling them what God has actually said in his Word…is more loving if they will listen. Warning them to get away from these false teachers who are lying through their hypocritical teeth, and using the Word for the promotion of their own pretentious religion as a cover for their perfected, unbridled, endless greed, making them ripe for judgement is the most loving thing we can do.
Matthew 3:7
But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming to where he was baptizing, he said to them: “You brood of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the coming wrath?
Luke 3:7
John said to the crowds coming out to be baptized by him, “You brood of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the coming wrath?
1 Timothy 4:16
Watch your life and doctrine closely. Persevere in them, because if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers.
Proverbs 27:5
Better is open rebuke than hidden love.
Chrystal…God bless you for your work and patience!
@The Pilgrim, I watched that Babel-video… JDP is speaking and reading so fast that people can not hear well what he is reading. I think they don’t have a bible with them to read the text themselves.
I’ve seen that trick, fast speaking and reading, before. It is done much by WOF-preachers. They do not give people the time to think about what they are saying. It’s the same strategy that people use that want to sell something.
Andrew Wommack uses the same strategy: asking a question and make people wonder and are confesed. And then he teaches the false message. It is the same strategy the snake used in Genesis 3. Asking a question and confusing Eve.
correction: Andrew Wommack uses the same strategy: asking a question and make people wonder and confuse them.
What happened to God’s omniscience? It should be very obvious that he is preaching another gospel………..
Pretty funny…

I think the attraction is the emotion behind it. I had been to “normal” church and it was boring, uninteresting and lacked enthusiasm. CharisMANIA is not boring, is very interesting (to watch anyway) and is full of enthusiasm. CharisMANIA also pulls heavily on your emotions – it is all about how you feel, how does THAT word make you feel, doesn’t the music FEEL good. You get the picture.
Old habits die hard – in that I am an A/G pastor (although a strange one I admit). I am surrounded by people who buy into various forms of NAME IT/CLAIM IT (though they claim not to be that very type of person). I am surrounded by people that make me laugh, cry and shout for joy too though.
Thoughts anyone – I can take the heat
In case anyone is interested, Jesse actually makes a quick reference to himself at 3:48.
To Jessie Duplicitious:
IF what you say is true, why don’t YOU go out and find a dead horse and breathe life into it, just like you say Adam did?
If you are a god, like you say Adam was, then what happened to your divinity?
Why don’t you do what you preach? What went wrong?
http://ianvincent.wordpress.com/
Ian,
I think I can answer for Jesse…. it’s because the horse has already been named. >:D
@ Mike A. – You’ll always be one of us…in Pentecostal circles, you will be a sheep in wolf’s clothing. Ha.
My advice? Be the best Bible teacher you can be, Mike. There were some good Bible teachers that I learned some unforgettable things from in Pentecostal circles. They weren’t all airheads and hanging from the rafters.
If that’s where you have been planted, join forces with those of sound doctrine and follow the Spirit’s lead. Those born in A/G need to hear the Word of God and be inspired to read it for themselves. No denomination has it ALL right.
God Bless…His love is unchanging!
Wow, Chrystal, you certainly got a reaction on this topic. I can imagine Jesus and his disciples sitting around a campfire discussing topics like this one…tactics change but motives of men’s hearts don’t.
As I rush back and forth between the stove and the blog, a handful of spaghetti flying through the air some hits the pot and bounces into the boiling water and then I’m back reading a few more comments, thinking about Kate’s freezing temperatures on the East Coast and the contrasting hot buttons of Jesse Duplantis.
He is………no guff! twisting Scripture from the pure to the offensive…there has to be some delighted deceptive spirit sitting on a nearby piano bench, beaming at the success of his newest diabolical doctrine and rubbing his antenae in glee….money, money, money, he whispers into the ear of his latest victim…JDP
…Greed. the motive behind the treachery. Wait…Think, Carolyn. Do not hit the send button yet! Oh ya…my spaghetti…back in a minute…
So anyways…what was I saying…well…Eli and Doug. We are here through no merit of our own, that’s for sure. But God is still showing us what is in our hearts, continually. And continually, we must choose Christ, our hope, life and Way to God or we will end up with some deceptive spirit sitting on a piano bench, nearby, grinning from ear to ear having just shifted our focus onto some selfish, heady or sublime conjecture that could propel us into a vortex of contemplative, purpose driven, universalistic or word faith spins that we may or may not recover from. Will we go after other gods that the nations go after or will we choose the God who has revealed himself to us through his Word? Because if we choose to stay with our Creator…he will stay with us.
2 Timothy 2:19
Nevertheless, God’s solid foundation stands firm, sealed with this inscription: “The Lord knows those who are his,” and, “Everyone who confesses the name of the Lord must turn away from wickedness.”
Carolyn,
I’m sitting here at work (and yes, taking a peek at the blog) getting a mental image of your spaghetti bouncing off the pot.
FYI
Lest you get the wrong idea, I do not support emotion over the Word. I was merely sharing my thoughts on why so many people are drawn into the WOF movement. I was not saved when I was involved, merely a spectator.
Thanks God he opened my eyes, changed me in a moment and has allowed me to serve Him ever since.
Well, it’s seems that Jesse Duplantis and all those other WoF preachers never ever read their bibles before they open their mouths:
“O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the LORD our maker. For he is our God; and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand.” Psalm 95: 6 & 7 KJV
“Know ye that the LORD he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.” Psalm 100:3 KJV
Carolyn,
A great big “thanks” to you for your encouraging words! Yes, I do believe I am planted in the A/G to make a difference and preach the whole counsel of God just as it is (in the Literal historical context). I read Spurgeon, Ravenhill, MacArthur and Chuck Smith extensively (among others).
Tangent squared
BTW Jesse is wearing glasses
Hi guys! Feels like forever since I talked with you. Missed you, Carolyn, Kiwi, Chrystal–and of course the whole gang. I miss Ms. Teresa too.
Okay 2plus2, I have that video on the Jesse Duplantis heaven thing going on there–I just do not like it; I got a creepy feeling when I saw it and became even more creeped-out as I thought about it and studied it.
So, in a nutshell–nah!
K
PS–Believe me, if God wanted us– mere humans– to be divine, Jesus never would’ve have had to shed His perfect, wonderful blood; that’s what gets my goat– that nutty doctrine, totally nutty!
Grant, tangent squared. Is that something like a parallel hypothesis?
Chrystal…ya the only one that do that spaghetti of the side of the pot thing better than me is the Swedish Chef on the Muppets. We cook together sometimes.
Mike – You’re welcome. You have both feet planted firmly on the earth, realizing that you are but a speck of dust, created for His Glory. I can tell you are a serious defender of the faith once for all delivered to the saints. And congratulations on being a pastor, BTW. You are on the side of Greatness! and we’re all on the same side… His side, not our side. Peace and Grace!
@ Carolyn, you haven’t tried making chicken soup with that Swedish Chef have you?
@ Kate Good to see you back. You have a really good point regarding whether God wanted man to be divine. If he did, he wouldn’t have said and done this:
“And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever: Therefore the LORD God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken. So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life. ” Genesis 3:22 – 24 KJV
Hey guys–did you see ABC’s 20/20 with Elizabeth Vargas last night? Very scary–check it out. K
@ Kiwi Dave – no I haven’t. These days I can hardly even spell chicken soup.
@ Grant – Hey I looked up Tangent Squared. Something about a spoof but I thought I would put two words together and hit you with it. “Parallel Hypothesis”…it turns out, I should have looked it up BEFORE I hit the send button…it IS a real formula. Who knew??? I give….
@Kate – can you give us the condensed, news headline version of 20/20? Or perhaps the chicken soup version…whatever’s easier.
Amen Carolyn on the scripture you gave. What Swedish Chef? A good recipe–let me know–I love to cook, we had Putanesca Sauce over penne pasta tonight, terrific.
Well, it’s a touchy one this 20/20 –it depicts sexual abuse, child abuse, just plain awful things going on in a certain fundamental denomination; the typical cultic garbage, manipulation, threats, shunning, rapes–their behavior being sanctioned by the church leaders and hidden by congregants.
Look it up. It’s pathetic and very disturbing. Ms. Vargas delivers a professional and well investigated story.
God bless all and have a good night. K
@ Kate, next time add some caper berries to that Putanesca sauce and serve with sweet potato gnocchi. If don’t like gnocchi, then serve with pappardelle. Dow here we only get the “local” or “regional” version of 20/20 so I’ll see if I can find that documentary.
After checking out the 20/20 documentary mentioned by Kate, I found a link to a very powerful article on “Scriptural Abuse”. Although this particular website is primarily focused on the IFB, what’s in this also aricle relates to the organizatons many of us were a part of, as well as the methods and tactics that are being used by all the false prophets that are being exposed on this blog. It’s a long read, but definitely worth every word:

@ Kiwi Dave….excellent article on abuse in the Church. I read about half or better. Things always go wrong when someone rules by oppression and deceit…government of one. We have all experienced it and been part of it at times, exactly as the author describes. Main thing…know the Word for yourself, have ears to hear what the Spirit is saying, don’t treat the pastors and teachers as infallible rulers and if you can do something about corruption and church bureaucracy, great…if not…move on.
@Kate I liked what the new pastor said:
Brian Fuller, the current pastor at Tina’s former IFB church, says all IFB Churches operate independently and that his church has nothing to hide. He opened his doors to “20/20” cameras, was critical of how Tina’s case was handled and denounced any abusive disciplinary practices, adding: “The Bible says that I’m supposed to love my children, I’m never supposed to ever do anything out of anger or manipulation. And that’s what our people are taught here,” he told Vargas.
All he can do is do his best to follow the Master the best he can. That’s all any of us can do. God Bless!
Kiwi– yes, I added capers of course, and melted the anchovy into the olive oil– the sweet potato gnocchi sounds fabulous–you like to cook my New Zealand friend, huh? I love to hear and see the many sides of the people I talk with.
Ahh, the Swedish Chef on the Muppets–who knew.
I’ll check out that link you gave, Dave.
Yes, we can only follow the Master the best we can. God bless you all too. K
One thing I’ve noticed about guys in the WOF abd now among the prophetic movement is that everybody has to come up with their “deep revelation” given to them thru their time of Bible Study abd it ends up being a gimmick they are famous for. I remember the 1st time I heard of JD’s trip to Heaven-I accepted it as fact because why would he make that up? But now seeing how often he as well as others have their “experiences” you have to wonder where they are coming from.
Hi Kiwi– long article but on the money, thanks– sadly, so typical, many of us have experienced the same or similar. K
