Stephen Choate: Receive a Prophecy – For a Price!

I received this tidbit in e-mail from a reader (thanks, M. Hellema).  I want to introduce you to Stephen Choate (for those of you who don’t know him).  If you’ll click over to his website, which is entitled, “Speak God Speak,” what you’ll find is a prophet for profit.

Choate, a friend of E. Bernard Jordan, promises that you can receive a personal prophecy from him if you register for his online conference.  There’s a catch, though – you have to pay for it.  Well, to be fair, you have to pay to attend the conference, but what’s the difference?  No money, no prophecy.  Here’s the proof  - At Choate’s “Receive a Prophecy” page, if you click on the “Register Now” button, it takes you to a Pay Pal screen where you see the online conference listed, and right beside of it is the price…. $125.00!  You can also pay via debit or credit card.  Now, I don’t know if that’s the cost of just that one conference, or if you get full access for paying that amount, but that’s not the point.  The point is that this man is another false prophet who is using the Word of God as a money grubbing scheme.

Here is what your $125.00 will get you:

Once you sign up you will receive a private access code and phone number. How you join is simple. Once we e-mail you your very own phone number and access code all you have to do is call the number we assign then enter in your code for verification. If you have any questions about your session you may contact us at (508) 816-6696. We are available to help you 7 days a week from the hours of 11am EST till 8pm EST. Your session will include an accurate prophetic word, teaching segment and prayer from Stephen. National prophecies are sometimes included. Your registration carries a 100 percent refund. We have perfect standing with our merchant account. Out of seventeen thousand sessions delivered we have less than 100 complaints or negative encounters worldwide. That is less than 1/10 of a percentage. Most of our clients are extremely satisfied and often impressed with how accurate the message they receive is. We have the numbers to prove it and the data which shows it.You have nothing to lose when signing up. Everything to gain. We hope you connect. You will be impressed. Thank you for your consideration.  (emphasis mine)

Those “national prophecies” include the Japan Quake, the Eiffel Tower, and the merger between AT&T and T Mobile.

Perhaps one of the most frightening things I found on Choate’s site is found in this self-promoting paragraph:

Stephen named the exact week of Michael Jackson’s death. We have researched all information presented by Television, Radio and Internet. Stephen is the only individual in the world that we know of who made this specific prediction to these specific dates as he mentioned the last week of June in the year 2009 nearly seven months prior. This is very unique and proves by fulfillment that there is something unusual, unique and different about Stephen. Just think. He is the only one who made this precise prediction. There are nearly seven billion people who walk the face of the planet and Stephen is the only individual who is known to have made this prediction. Now anyone can make there presentation known as it pertains to tomorrow’s time line. But to get it exactly right is unique. God is with Stephen. Believe in Stephen(source)

Yes, you read that right… believe in STEPHEN.

Michael Jackson’s death isn’t the only prediction Choate’s site uses as examples to exhibit his power.  If you hover over the “Secrets of the World with Stephen” tab, you see his other prophetic claims.  He claims he had prophetic foresight into:

  1. Patrick Swayze’s death
  2. Oprah ending her show
  3. Simon Cowell leaving American Idol
  4. Tiger Woods’ marital infidelity
  5. Justin Bieber’s meteoric rise to stardom

But, his prophetic prowess isn’t just exclusive to the world of entertainment, here are some other words of knowledge he says the Lord gave him:

  1. Circuit City Closing
  2. Blockbuster Video Closing
  3. Investing in silver and gold

However, if you actually click on the “Secrets of the World with Stephen” tab, it will take you to a page entitled, “Secrets of the World,” where he gives forty prophecies he says he prophesied in advance (with no hindsight involved), and their fulfillment.  Some of these prophecies are absurd.  For instance, he says he prophesied these things (among many others):

  1. The San Francisco Giants would win the world series in 2010
  2. The LA Lakers would win the NBA championship in 2010
  3. The Chicago Blackhawks would win the Stanley Cup in 2010
  4. Starbucks Coffee company would change their logo

Sounds more like a bookie or a tabloid psychic than a prophet of God, doesn’t he?  I’m just wondering what significance these things can possibly have when it comes to the gospel of Jesus Christ.

But back to Choate’s supposed prophecies….there is a problem here… there is no video or written proof that these prophecies were given by Choate, as far as I can see, before they actually occured.  Instead, this is what Choate offers as proof:

“All prophetic words were given before they came to pass. There is absolutely no hindsight applied. No misleading affect to public perception. Verification can be backed up by individuals who are trusted sources. Who have integrity and who walk with God. These are just 40 verified reports. We do not tell you these items of truth to get you to sign up. We tell you such information so that your confidence would be gained. If you never sign up for anything we will still do our best to help you in any which way we can. No matter what we are here to help you and thank you so much for coming to our ministry page. We appreciate you. In regards to verification you can also contact our secretary at (508) 816-6696 who will confirm that these reports are valid. We realize they seem hard to believe. However they are true. We would never intentionally mislead the public into thinking that Stephen is gifted when he is not. We will tell you that he is gifted because we have witnessed these events unfolding. Some of us have witnessed several events while others have witnessed other events.Testimony is valid. These claims are valid. Only the ignorant will tell you we made them up. Only the foolish will react with negativity towards our claim. Our claim is valid. Rock solid valid. If you don’t believe us. Don’t sign up. We have nothing to lose and wish you the absolute best.”  (source) (emphasis mine)

So, no, there is no video or written proof that these prophecies are valid, or more specifically, that they were given before these events occured.  They are only being backed up by “individuals who are trusted sources” of this man’s ministry.  That’s hardly an unbiased and fair witness, wouldn’t you say?  If you still don’t believe it after being told Choate’s friends are witness to these propetic utterances and you still need verification, call his secretary….she’ll tell you it’s true.  If you still don’t believe and react negatively towards his claims, you are foolish.

What I find on Choate’s site is much self-promotion to verify what a powerful man of God he wants his followers to believe he is.  But where is Jesus?  Where are the sermons about the gospel being the true power of God unto salvation to those who believe?  Where are sermons about repentance from sin and living a life of repentance?

Discernment in the church is at an all time low and will go lower.  We can gauge how lacking it is by the fact that men like Choate can actually pull in $125.00 a piece from blind followers who look to him to hear a Word from God instead of reading the Bible and getting the infallible truth from God Himself.

Avoid this man at all costs.

  1. Ireland says:

I used to contact a VERY good and somewhat famous psychic on the phone and it sounds like the same thing!! I guess I can be a Christian AND still get my “word” for the future. No repentance needed!

  2. Les says:

I’m not sure this is a real person. I looked through the web site and he doesn’t include any photos of himself or any autobiographical information. It could be run by a con in a prison cell or a Nigerian scammer looking for an easy buck. His writing style and word choice are awkward but I can’t decide if it is because he is foreign or if he hasn’t received much education beyond high school.

I googled the phone number given at his website and found that it belongs to Charles Lester Ministries, Cayce, SC 29033.

I also found this profile: http://www.fastcompany.com/user/stephen-choate

Charles Lester Ministries apparently offers educational services online including (surprise, surprise) prophetic counseling. see: http://www.kogibcs.org/Home.html

  3. Javanut says:

    Act 8:17-24
    (17) Then they laid their hands on them and they received the Holy Spirit.
    (18) Now when Simon saw that the Spirit was given through the laying on of the apostles’ hands, he offered them money,
    (19) saying, “Give me this power also, so that anyone on whom I lay my hands may receive the Holy Spirit.”
    (20) But Peter said to him, “May your silver perish with you, because you thought you could obtain the gift of God with money!
    (21) You have neither part nor lot in this matter, for your heart is not right before God.
    (22) Repent, therefore, of this wickedness of yours, and pray to the Lord that, if possible, the intent of your heart may be forgiven you.
    (23) For I see that you are in the gall of bitterness and in the bond of iniquity.”
    (24) And Simon answered, “Pray for me to the Lord, that nothing of what you have said may come upon me.”

In 2000 yrs, nothing has changed. We still have charlatans wanting to charge money for what God gives us freely.

  4. Kiwi Dave says:

I couldn’t help but notice this:

“Most of our clients are extremely satisfied and often impressed with how accurate the message they receive is.”

They said “clients” not “partners” or “followers”, or even “brethren”. I agree with les that he may not even be a reasl person, and that this is just a money making scam. All of those so-called prophesies are trivial and irrelevant. Note that he coudn’t predict the cause of Michael Jackson’s death or even the day. And again. who cares, because none of this hocus-pocus has anything to do with Jesus or the Scriptures.

This is a direct quote taken from the site posted by les above:

“Acting as a medium between God and His people, Stephen Choate has formulated more than 10,000 correct personal predictions and hundreds of correct political prophecies.”

Now, what do the scriptures say about “mediums”? This is a very stern warning against even phoning that website “Speak God Speak”:

“Regard not them that have familiar spirits, neither seek after wizards, to be defiled by them: I [am] the LORD your God.” Leviviticus 19:31 KJV

“And the soul that turneth after such as have familiar spirits, and after wizards, to go a whoring after them, I will even set my face against that soul, and will cut him off from among his people.” Levivicus 20″6 KJV

“There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch, Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer. For all that do these things are an abomination unto the LORD: and because of these abominations the LORD thy God doth drive them out from before thee.” Deuteronomy 18:10 – 12 KJV

Stephen Choate also has a mirror website to Speak God Speak here:

    http://stephenchoate.com/

There’s even more about him here:

    http://charismaticcentral.com/forums/prophecy-end-times/6072-prophecy-about-obama-3.html

Here are some flippant and sickening “testimonies” glorifying Stephen Schoate:

    http://propheticnetwork.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=22&Itemid=72

Finally here’s a “doosie” of a forum with 72 comments for ordinary paeople, and they are the complete opposite of the “testimonies” above. This is apparently what Stephen Choate had to say about himself:

    “[Choate talks about... Choate.]

Requesting a gift for a prophetic word- We believe it is only right when you give when requesting for a prophetic word.A false balance is abomination to the LORD: but a just weight is his delight(Proverbs 11:1) This ministry is only in existence because of your financial support. Without your money given, Stephen would not be full-time. He would be forced to work in the world because of money. When you support his work in God, you give to God. Why? Because this is the LORD’s work. Since you can never out-give God, you will always receive a return. Not just financially, but by the supernatural gift Stephen has. Some people think we are charging for the word of the LORD, when we are not. We are allowing you access into Stephen’s private life. This access can only be created by money, which is your gift. You are paying for the access, by the gift you give. When you honor a prophet, you receive the prophet’s reward. Honor will return to you because Stephen is truly God’s.

    Stephen Choate”

Now go read the 72 comments to that statement above:

  5. michael henry says:

Compared to this guy, whoever he or she may actually be, snake oil seems like a good deal.

  6. Mike A says:

    I have a prophecy too!

    Mark 13:8
For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be earthquakes in various places; there will be famines. These are but the beginning of the birth pains

of course – I got mine from the only authority on prophecy, God’s word.

Me thinks another scripture states something about a fool and his money will soon be parted??????? (sorry for the sarcasm)

  7. james says:

I heard someone speak once about what prophecy actually means. It’s not what most of us think is, and what I used to think it was, which is primarily telling the future.

Check out this link for the ordering of the books in the Hebrew Bible vs others, and you’ll see some interesting books making it into the prophetic category.

    http://www.crivoice.org/canonot.html

Prophecy according to Hebrew tradition meant someone speaking about current events and what would be soon to come to pass. Only a very small fraction of the Old Testament prophecies dealt with events to come much later, those being Messianic prophecies. Most of the stuff dealt with how Israel was living at the current time, and what she needed to do (turn back to Him), otherwise something would happen.

And it’s interesting to think those “things that would happen” are really us reaping the fruit of our disobedience to Him, which He allows us to suffer. At those points in time, rather than trusting in Him, Israel was trusting in the nations around her, but God warned them that they would fail her or betray her. Read what happened when the Babylonian delegates came to Jerusalem, and the then king showed them everything they had. Decades later, they came and sacked Jerusalem taking those things and doing other things. Israel had been building reliance on those nations and it backfired on them. Rather than being distinct and trusting God, she had become like the nations around her, and many of the prophecies of that time dealt specifically with that.

  8. Eli says:

Is he related to Jean Dixon? Soothsayers, and crystal ball readers, prophets for profit…its all the same thing.

  9. USNAVYSAILOR (Retired) says:

This guy is a bargain @ $125.00 – Dennis Cramer (www.denniscramer.com) offers you a one-time personal prophecy for a mere $1000.00! His website declares “A one-time gift of just $1000 (US) qualifies you as a Lifetime Partner with this worldwide prophetic ministry. (You are not buying a prophecy, you are honoring the Prophet.)

I’m reminded of the story of Simon, formerly a sorcerer, who thought that he could purchase the power of the Holy Spirit with money in Acts 8. Peter’s rebuke in verses 20-22 should be a stern warning to all self-proclaimed, self-appointed modern day “prophets” when he declares “Thy money perish with thee, because thou hast thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money. Thou hast neither part nor lot in this matter, for thy heart is not right in the sight of God. Repent therefore of this wickedness, and pray God, if perhaps the thought of thine heart may be forgiven thee.”

  10. Les says:

@Kiwi Dave, I was going to post the fstdt thread but I wasn’t sure if Diana wanted that linked to her blog.

I also found a page including complaints from not so satisfied customers here:

These people paid their money and some of them didn’t a prophecy.

Choate basically admits he created the site to generate money at this thread that has emails choate sent to the moderator of the fstdt forum:

But I warn you, some of the comments may be offensive.

  11. Grant says:

    Famous quote about this type:

  12. oobiedoobie says:

The whois.com domain name search shows the owner of the http://speakgodspeak.com/ is the following:

    Registrant:
    Paltrineri
    Paltrineri, Stephen
    <>>
My guess this is a con man front. I wonder if they saw this coming?

    • oobiedoobie…

I deleted his address and phone number. It’s not at all unusual for a website to be controlled through a webmaster. I know some very fine folks who do this all the time. Even other bloggers. This doesn’t mean it’s a front.

  13. Kiwi Dave says:

@ les, most of the comments on the links above are from 2008, they’re three years old. I wonder if he’ll begin threatening Chrystal and all of us if he learns of the existence of this topic and discussion about him?

  14. Les says:

I knew they were from 2008.

This quote from the randi link is telling: “You are drawing negative attention to my work and ministry. You are spreading lies and deceptive information about me. The LORD is using you to draw people to me. My website will be worth more money because of you.”

So was the Lord drawing attention to his site so he can make more money?

  15. Jason says:

Whoever posted this article obviously doesn’t know Stephen that well. I’ve known Stephen for a while and can tell you he loves people and does well helping them. I am for Stephen and love the good that he has done for others.

I don’t care what anyone says on this blog. None of you know Stephen so none of you have an intelligent perspective upon his life. None of you have met him.

Slaughter of the sheep should be called:

    Slaughter of the brethren

You’ve done a fantastic job attacking someone you don’t know. I’ve witnessed the word of the LORD coming to pass with Stephen. Honestly I’ve never met anyone like him and guess what? He does Praise God. He loves God and he doesn’t always ask for gifts. There are so many people I’ve seen him help for free.

Besides attacking others you don’t know how many people have you helped?

  16. stephenmz says:

Shaking my head with my hand on my face thinking of all those people who are calling him up, giving him their money…ugh…this man is hoodwinking people just Todd Bentley, Rob Bell and Hinn and people are falling for it…so sad.

  17. Kiwi Dave says:

@ Jason, please provide a link to any photographs of Stephen Choate. The reason being that anyone can show up at a meeting claiming to be Stephen Choate and as there are no pictures of him a different person can quite literally “play the role” of Stephen Choate at different events in different locations. I say this having been pesonally invited in the past, (with a winess) to create a “church” with the express and only purpose of lying to people in order to literally “fleece” them of every cent they have, including property! How does Stephen Choate explain those people paying for “prophecies” and not recieving them, even as a common service? They paid for something they never received which under the law is common fraud!

You’d better explain to Stehen Choate as his friend that all those people who paid money and have not received what they paid for have every legal right to make a formal complaint against him to the IC3 tipline of the FBI regarding internet scams!

Also, Stehen Choate’s so-called prophecies are in direct conflict with the scriptures as he supposedly “prophesied” or predicted the death of Micheal Jackson among other things to do with Hollywood celebrities etc:

“Love not the world, neither the things [that are] in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.” I John 2:15 KJV

  18. Magnolia says:

Well, Jesus warned us time and time again. The terms “false teacher”, “false prophets”, “wolves in sheep’s clothing” appear repeatedly in the New Testament. What amazes me is the gross gullibility within the Body of Christ. What happened to discernment? Do people even realize what discernment means? Do Christians understand the concept of deception?

I John 4:1 says: (King James Version)

“Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.”

This constant merchandising of the Gospel and fraudulent con artistry is beyond belief. It’s like watching a “Sham-Wow” commercial gone bad. ………..Green prayer handkerchiefs, olive oil and bottled water from the Holy Land, “Meals that Heal” (yes, that was a new one on me)…….and now, The Psychic Friend’s Network for Duped Believers.

Have the sheeple gone completely crazy? This does not include the many, many financial abuses of the huge non-profit 501 (c)(3) so-called ministries that prop up the lavish lifestyles of the “filthy rich and famous”. It can no longer be about the Word of God, it has to have a gimmick. That’s all we see today……one gimmick after another.

I guess we’ll remain in our Biblical, little middle-class, Baptist world because we’re not willing to exploit the Gospel in exchange for mammon and an $18 million Citation Jet. Jesus is our Savior, not our Santa Claus. His precious sacrifice on the Cross was meant to save our souls and give us eternal life, not increase our bank accounts. Thank God, I actually have a conscience that I have to live with. Thank God that He sees all and knows all.

  19. Carolyn says:

@Grant: Love that duck! Thanks for the tune…
he’s infamous, damnable and despicable…he’s reprehensible, insensible and abominable! And so is Stephen, the medium….in the eyes of God.

@Jason. Read your Bible, friend. This kind of medium is what God detests.
    Leviticus 19:31
“‘Do not turn to mediums or seek out spiritists, for you will be defiled by them. I am the LORD your God.
    2 Chronicles 33:6
He sacrificed his children in the fire in the Valley of Ben Hinnom, practiced divination and witchcraft, sought omens, and consulted mediums and spiritists. He did much evil in the eyes of the LORD, arousing his anger.
    Isaiah 8:19
When someone tells you to consult mediums and spiritists, who whisper and mutter, should not a people inquire of their God? Why consult the dead on behalf of the living?
    Leviticus 20:6
“‘I will set my face against anyone who turns to mediums and spiritists to prostitute themselves by following them, and I will cut them off from their people.

And take note of what will happen in the end to those who participate in magic arts:
    Revelation 21:8
But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars—they will be consigned to the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.”

Think again, Jason. You are not arguing with what we have said…it is what God has said that matters.

  20. anon says:

    @Jason

The way that you write looks just like the way Stephen writes………
Writing the word “LORD” with capital letters
Using incorrect grammar “an intelligent perspective upon his life”
Using the words “intelligent” (Stephen loves using that word….because he thinks he is intelligent)

Are you sure you are not Stephen posing as Jason?!?!?

  21. Jeffrey T. says:

Folks, This is about doing things “At will” and what God actually does in this and the difference thereunto.

“At will” means a believer makes a decision, on his own, to initiate or attempt to duplicate a particular sovereign, supernatural experience. The individual wants a particular supernatural experience to happen so badly, he will do anything, (within his power), to make it happen – to force it, to duplicate or copy it, whether or not it is God’s sovereign will. Rather, a believer should allow God to SOVEREIGNLY cause it to happen at His chosen time, as we see recorded in all similar bible examples.

When a believer unwisely exercises his (soulish) human will, outside of or in conflict with the sovereign will of God, (anything contrary to the written word of God, the bible), he is producing a seemingly supernatural (source unclear) experience, from his own will or “at will”. This is the meaning of “at will.” “At will” is self-will, and self-will can be sinful, and can lead to all kinds of spiritual deception and questionable practices.

The question of supernatural sovereign experiences “at will”

Do I believe in third heaven experiences? Absolutely, I do. The bible supports such sovereign experiences as in the example of Paul in II Cor.12. Do I believe in being physically transported? Absolutely, I do! But all this by a sovereign act of God, for e.g. Phillip was physically transported (Acts 8) from one location to another. So if it’s in the bible I believe it! I believe it all! Amen!

However, there is a HUGE difference between God willing YOU to have a certain sovereign bible experience, (like Paul or Phillip) as opposed to you willing it, or trying to make it happen, to duplicate it through mere human effort or merely through the exercising of your human or soulish will, in other words, “at will.” These bible experiences were 100% sovereign. They did not happen because these individuals willed them into existence or willed them to happen. God and God alone initiated them – He and He alone willed them. This is the very nature of a sovereign experience: God makes it happen when He wants, where he wants, and with whom He wants. Period! And they usually happened when the candidates or recipients least expected it. Why? Because these were sovereign events, not planned or initiated by man, but by God.

When discussing a sovereign experience there is a big difference between initiating versus cooperating. God INITIATES all sovereign experiences, the believer COOPERATES with them. Mix the two, crisscross them, and this can lead to some real doctrinal confusion and counter-productive measures.

    It’s all about God’s sovereignty…

The critical issue with operating in the supernatural is: who is initiating what or who is “willing” what? Teaching believers that by following certain steps, teachings, formulas, and/or merely exercising their own human wills, they can duplicate any sovereign supernatural experience is dangerous and unscriptural.

One cannot go to heaven like Paul or be transported physically like Phillip simply because they or you want to, or because they feel like it, (at will). Teachings like this often cross over into dangerous methods and techniques that resemble new age, mysticism, spiritism or other occult manipulative practices. A believer cannot and must not force, manipulate, or otherwise attempt to reproduce a sovereign supernatural bible experience by merely following a method, a series of steps, or worst of all “willing it” to happen.

Whether we are discussing being translated in the spirit or transported physically, or any supernatural sovereign experience we read about in the bible, the critical difference between whether it is God or not is who “willed” it to happen: Was it you or was it God? If you willed it to happen, it ceases to be a sovereign, God ordained, supernatural, bible experience, and you risk experiencing a counterfeit.

It Is Time To Dust Off Your Bible!

Picture in your mind, if you will, the image of an unused dust-covered bible. Now picture in your mind that this same dust-covered bible is your bible! This is not a good image to be sure, especially for a bible believing Christian in 2011. Sadly, many Christians now read more books about the bible then they do the bible itself. Consequently, many in the church have gradually, and somewhat unknowingly become biblically ignorant, unaware, or stunted. And doctrinally speaking, anything goes. There is now wide-spread acceptance of “marginal to heretical” doctrines. Just 25 years ago individuals would have been thrown out of the church if caught teaching these heresies. How did this happen? Simply, we have become biblically ignorant. We have not been diligent to feed on the unadulterated Word of God. We are at best malnourished and in some cases starving to death. Biblical ignorance is on the increase in the church, even to epidemic levels! Like any form of “lack” created by ignorance which can lead to sickness, only the proper “intake” or in these cases, only proper biblical education can remedy it.

“Warning: We live in an age of “anything goes” theology! The charismatic church is in big trouble!” And we go for it and THINK it is God that does something. While most of it comes from the Asian Countries, Kundalini Powers, Shakti Pat, Psychic revelations, Chakra readings and the like. They all have crept in the church as is.

So, here is my 2011 “prescription” for this beautiful but biblically challenged, even unhealthy, bride.

    1. Orthodoxy! I would like to prescribe a good healthy dose of the written Word of God, the bible and the thorough study of it. Stop following strange phenomena. The church needs an immediate injection of the truth! We must all pray for the church to return to the orthodoxy (traditional belief) of scripture. This means a return to the proper reading, INTERPRETATION, and application of the bible in our lives. There is a growing trend towards some really bad doctrine out there. And we, the church, must put a stop to it! If we don’t, no one else will! The church must begin to police herself against unorthodox (false) teaching and bizarre practices. You must reacquaint yourself with the scriptures and know your bible.2. Berea! We must pray for a “Berean Revival” in the church – a revival which returns us all to our roots – our roots in the Word of God. In the bible, the original Bereans were believers who “searched the scriptures daily to find out whether these things be so”. There is a lot of doctrine currently in circulation in the charismatic church that is highly questionable – even heretical. Each believer must begin to “search the scriptures” for himself to discover whether what he is believing is biblical or not (Acts 17:11). Stop unequivocally trusting ministers and their pulpits to always and completely preach the truth – some do, some do not. You need to search and know the scriptures for yourself. If their teachings sound too good to be true – they very well may be! Know your bible.

    2. Preach the Word! (II Timothy 4:2) It is time for the church to return to her basic bible beliefs (fundamental doctrines) and the core values these fundamental doctrines produce. Peripheral doctrines or beliefs are peripheral for a reason, and can lead to dangerous theologically positions and questionable practices. We must stop extracting obscure, vague, single, solitary verses out of context, and stop trying to make major “sound” doctrines out of them. This “stretching of the truth” must stop. Some of our so-called “proof texts” do not prove what’s being preached at all. We are “twisting the scriptures to our own destruction.” We must again major in major doctrine and minor in the minor ones. My personal word to all Pastors/ Teachers for 2011 is simple: “Preach the Word!” Know your bible.

    3. OVER EMPHASIS ON ANGELS: Yes, they are real. But an angelic visitation is a rare and precious event. Most Christians will never have an encounter with one. And it is extremely unlikely that a Christian will be visited by an arc angel. Michael and Gabriel were given specific, significant, world changing tasks in the scriptures. It is likely that they have more important things to do than to drop by your house for a visit! Outrageous teaching this is.

    • Going into trances at will: SEE INTRODUCTION

    • Trance dancing: I have been unable to find this in the bible. Can you ?

    4. Seducing Spirits! (I Timothy 4:1-4) There has been loosed on the church for 2000 years a literal army of demons who sole task is to deceive the church! Unfortunately, these deceiving, seducing, spirits are enjoying some of their most successful efforts. Why? The average believer does not know his bible. The bible is absolute truth, forever settled in heaven. It is our sword of the Spirit – two edged and deadly. To be bible ignorant is to have no offensive weapon against our enemy Satan. Our ONLY defense against our enemy is a proven offense. And our proven offense against this hoard of demons is the written Word of God, the bible. Jesus wielded this same written word-sword against Satan in the wilderness with great results. So should you! I hear the church saying again, “DEVIL, IT IS WRITTEN!” It does not matter what you think, feel, sense, or even believe. It does not matter what experience you claim to have had, or how many trips to heaven you claim to have made, or how many angels you claim to know on a first name basis. The only thing that matters is what God said in His Word. Know your bible

Prophets! As a Prophet, Jesus Christ enjoyed only a very brief season of popularity, followed by His crucifixion as a falsely convicted criminal. Many prophets will suffer the same fate in 2011. I fear that the season of popularity for many prophets is over. As James wrote, “As an example of SUFFERING, take the prophets.” But there were false prophets also among the people, as there shall be also among you false teachers, who shall bring in by the bye destructive heresies, and deny the master that bought them, bringing upon themselves swift destruction; and many shall follow their dissolute ways, through whom the way of the truth shall be blasphemed. And through covetousness, with well-turned words, will they make merchandise of you: for whom judgment of old is not idle, and their destruction slumbers not. (2 Peter 2:1-3) Know your bible !!

And the list can go on and on, but this one should be clear. Never Jesus was charging for His Love, His Word, His Revelations about you. Prophets should be in the 5 fold ministry in the Church, not a loner that goes and operates on their own, somewhere. We must stop following these deceivers that only are interested in filthy lucre and don’t care about bringing in souls for the Kingdom of Heaven.

I hope I have helped here to give a little 2 cents of my contribution about false prophets and how to discern them and flush them out.

I hope these post will make it to several websites and blogs, so that we can put false prophets to shame.

    God bless,

    Jeff

Below is an extract from Stephen Choate’s website “www.speakgodspeak.com” which clearly shows that he is endorsed by false prophet Bishop Jordan. And at the following link (http://philcooke.com/old_jordan/) you can also see Stephen Choate supporting Bishop Jordan and saying that he has a strong anointing from God. They are both “Prophets for Profit” and they are both false prophets. If they can’t even identify each other as false prophets, then how can they know whose voice they are really hearing and where their visions and supernatural experiences are really coming from?? Both are deceived and lack spiritual discernment.

This gift is so unique that it can only be seen by the Spirit. Only those who are walking with the Father in their prophetic anointing can see the uniqueness on your life. The enemy has been trying to make you think there is something wrong with you. But in reality, he has been manipulating the people around you and causing them to become jealous of the gift that God has placed within you.

All of your life you have felt that there was something different about you. As a child you had the ability and the wisdom to bring peace into a chaotic situation. Your elders were amazed that so much knowledge was coming from such a small frame. The anointing that is on your life has given you the strength and courage to turn your pain into pleasure. Well, I am here to tell you – there is a prophetic anointing living on the inside of you that is ready to burst out

“I ORDAINED THEE A PROPHET UNTO THE NATIONS!”

The Holy Spirit just shared with me that the anointing that is on your life is breaking the stronghold that the enemy has had over your family and friends. I literally see them coming to you, one by one, apologizing for all of the pain and strife they caused you in the past. God is going to use you to bring healing and peace into their lives.

    Hi Jason:

I read your comments carefully. Here are a few things you may want to consider.

I have never met or talked to Stephen Choate, nor have I met or talked to Sun Myung Moon, Sergei Torop, and Wayne Bent. But I have spent time applying the Biblical test to the teachings of Moon, Torop, and Bent.

1 Thessalonians 5:21 and 1 John 4:1 are Scriptural commands to test all things by what God has already revealed in His written word. Problems occur if we fail to do this. If we fail to “test all things” and “try the spirits,” we will be swayed and deceived by the false teachers of our day, and led into the arms of the false “Jesus” the Apostle Paul warned about in 2 Corinthians chapter 11.

Sun Myung Moon claims to be the restored messiah to the nations. Sergei Torop (aka “Vissarion”), claims to be “Jesus Christ”. Wayne Bent (aka Michael Travesser), also claims to be the messiah, but is currently serving time in prison for sexual misconduct with two teenaged females.

Of course, Jesus, Himself, warned about false messiahs in Matthew chapter 24, and instructed the believer to stay away from them.

Therefore, one doesn’t have to know people personally to know if they are true or false teachers. All one has to do is have a good working knowledge of Scripture, obey the commands of Scripture, and compare what people say with Scripture.

Finally, Jason, I would appreciate your thoughts/opinion on the following quote:

“Men made Christ into a God yet Christ never called himself God. He called himself LORD. Jesus always referred to himself as the way to God, the way to life, the way to his Father. In the process of this experience our systems have malfunctioned at the insightful perspective that Christ brought. We have called the Son of God the Father of all. When he himself refers to himself as LORD of the earth.”

Before you comment, please take the time to study the following Scriptures that teach that Jesus is God:

    Genesis 1:1
    John 1:1-3
    John 8:56-58
    John 10:30-33
    Colossians 1:16-17
    Revelation 1:7-8
    Revelation 22:13

    Love in Christ,

  24. prophet Adam says:

Yeshua said many false prophets will come in the last days. The mark of a true prophet is not money but walking in the fear of Yhwh. The true prophetic word will bring repentance of sin. Most so called prophets today don’t have the testimony of Yeshua.

    Revelation 19:10
Then I fell down at his feet to worship him, but he said, “No, don’t worship me. I am a servant of Yhwh, just like you and your brothers and sisters who testify about their faith in Yehsua. Worship only Yhwh. For the essence of prophecy is to give a clear witness for Yeshua.”
