In the following video, Darlene Bishop conveys the salvation experience of an unsaved brother. What’s so troublesome about the testimony is that Bishop claims she birthed her brother in the spirit before he actually got saved.
Bishop relates how her brother had an ATV accident, and when she arrived at the hospital, he was cursing the doctors and nurses and even told one that if he had a gun, he would blow her head off. Bishop, in a state of confusion, says she prayed, telling God she knows her brother was saved because she birthed him in the spirit weeks before.
Is this Biblical? No. Scripture teaches that Jesus is the only way, the only truth, and the only life. The only way to Heaven is through Him. I don’t care how many times Bishop claims to have birthed him in the spirit, the only way to salvation is through the finished work of Christ on Calvary, and her brother did not and can not enter the Kingdom without going through Jesus Christ first.
Please try to watch the video in its entirety. I know Bishop’s screechy yelling and high pitch is burdensome to sit through, but false doctrine like this needs to be exposed for the nonsense that it is.
I have been watching for years about differnt doctrines and I have discoverd that many people want to be the center of attention and so many dont want to acknowledge that the word is 100% correct. So many people are falling in to so many weird beliefs and trying to claim this or that but these people are sadly decieved to the point they dont have any solid ground to stand on so when a major trial comes their way the fall like flies. The really sad part is when they fall they take so many with them.I know the hour is close to when God will start having his judgement fall on the church. Are we ready? If it isnt in the word why listen?Tim
Chrystal my dear, where do you find this stuff? You truly are an investigative genius. .
I just don’t get all this extra-biblical theology; where is it taking us?
Nevertheless, let us keep praying and keep spreading the Gospel as we look to Jesus for our answers. K
Pastor Bishop said ‘several times -”I” felt this, “I” felt that, “I” birth him, “I” did this and “I” did that “I” felt this, “I” felt that–she said: “I” howled, “I”travailed, “I” wailed, and “I” lamented for my brother, “I” felt he was saved — but there was little glory given to our LORD who ask us to stand in faith trusting Him. And when her brother told her he was saved that morning she said ‘No” you were saved three weeks ago when “I”…
Some plant, others water, BUT IT IS GOD WHO BRINGS THE INCREASE.
To God be the Glory – GREAT THINGS HE HAS DONE.!!…
She has been to my old church in West Virginia and I have been to her church, one time, in Monroe, Ohio. I have not much to say but this I do know she not only is your classic Word of Faith teacher but she also teaches Law of Attraction. She creeps me out and I really do not like her. The only imitation I saw that she kept referring to…….was her.
That giving birth in the spirit thing is weird. I have heard people acting like they were giving birth and it is not biblical. Thanks Chrystal
How very catholic of you, Darlene! If it is that easy to “birth” a person into the kingdom of God why aren’t you on your face right now birthing someone else into His kingdom. What an awesome power you have, to think you can birth a person into heaven by your prayers. So why is anyone lost? You have the power to save them by your prayer. Who do you select? Who do you reject? Should I send money?
Maybe I should just warn people that you are a rank heretic and false prophetess. And maybe I should quote one scripture (that I’m sure you do not understand and therefore reject): “But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. ‘Not of blood’ eternal life is not something that can be inherited by natural birth; ‘nor of the will of the flesh’ you cannot gain eternal life by wanting it, wishing it to be so, or by any act of your will; ‘nor by the will of man’ no one else can will you into His kingdom, pray you into His kingdom, or pronounce you to be saved because they will it to be so. You MUST believe for yourself by the power and aid of the Holy Spirit.
Darlene speaks lies, from her father, the father of lies, that is the devil.
Just a lot of hot air with no substance whatsoever.
Well, these scriptures certainly contradicts everything that Darlene Bishop says and is teaching as far as her “birthing” people in the Kingdom of God is concerned:
“But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God .” John 1:12 & 13 KJV
“There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews: The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him. Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother’s womb, and be born? 5Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.” John 3:1 – 8 KJV
“Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know. Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way? Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” John 14:1 – 6 KJV
@ Ali
You are right…….It is all about “I” and not about God. She believes that God can do nothing unless she brings it forth.
All the WOF believe that God is on the outside looking in, God’s hands are tied behind his back and God can do nothing unless we do it for him.
She wrote a book “Your life follows your words” talk about Law of attraction.
This book gave me a headache, oops I should not have said that, “sarcasms intended”
Here is a link of more false teachings from Darlene
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EB-MNeTER7k
What always amazes me the most in these cases, and there are many, and they are pretty much the same vein, is how an audience large or small can sit through, listen, or even believe any of it. It’s never likely the first time she or any heretic/apostate speaks, or they wouldn’t have a video or blog report calling attention, somehow, to them.
It’s even more amazing since this type of garbage is so very far from credible, biblical, orthodox, historical, revealed truth. The obvious ones like this are fairly easy to examine compared to the slick-willy Warren types. It is wrong on so many levels I or anyone else would not be considered brief in any sense in our listing of the problems.
It is not simply the speaker, who as in this case with the video providing the evidence, that is proof of false teaching and so forth, it is the audience who prove the trustworthiness of scripture when it says …”they will accumulate for themselves teachers…” (ESV 2Ti4:3).
In a very real sense, it is not Bishop, who cannot be a pastor anymore than I can be a Buick, who gathers her audience, it is they who have drawn her.
What’s amazing is how many people are duped by such teachings. 2 Timothy 4:3-4 is fulfilled in this meeting!
I was just thinking. She birthed one brother in the spirit and another brother “Wayne Perry” country song writer, etc.. He had treatable throat cancer and Darlene convinced him that he was healed, he died in 2005.
There was a law suite from his children, suing Darlene for wrongful death and for spending his life insurance policy. One child lived in the same town, with his mother, as I did at the time of his death. The town was Proctorville Ohio.
She mentioned in her book “Your life follow your words” that she was healed of breast cancer, that was never diagnosed by a doctor. Also, in her book she wrote that her brother was healed of throat cancer and died.
How heart breaking for his children.
This is why we need to do as 2 Timothy 2:15 Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth. 2 Peter2:1 But there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the sovereign Lord who bought them–bringing swift destruction on themselves. 2 Timothy 4:3 For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear.
We must continue to pray for all men at all times for the enemy main goal is to steal, kill and destroy. God said the only way is through His Son Jesus Christ! Jesus went to Calvary for our sins. It’s a shame when people don’t give God glory that is due to Him. You and I as a people can’t do nothing in our own self we can’t even wake out of bed in the morning if God does not breathe into us. I pray for people like this because they are every where in our churches every Sunday, let’s pray God have Mercy on their Souls.
Chrystal, I think the last comment does not make since, you do not need to post it. I can rewrite the comment because I did it in a hurry. I am not sure I got point across. I will wait and see if you send it through.
Teresa,
It makes perfect sense, so I sent it through.
1) She may be “birthing in the spirit”, but why do I get the feeling someone else gets the birth pangs?
2) It appears content doesn’t matter with these people. The louder you shout, the more the audience cheers. Like having a built in “Noise-o-meter”. Completely flesh driven in my opinion.
Cindy Jacobs published a word from the ACPE prophetic roundtable. And she also speaks of a birth canal… These false prophets focus on the number ’11′. (So next year their words will be about the number ’12′. So predictable.)

@Kate
You said…..I just don’t get all this extra-biblical theology; where is it taking us?
I posted this before, I am reposting it again.
It is called gnosticism….which means “knowledge”
The classic heresy of Gnosticism, which taught that a spiritual elite possessed “hidden knowledge” of the divine realm which placed their personal revelations, spiritual experiences, and private interpretation of Scripture above the ordinary revelation of God’s Word.
I have heard this so many times; I know you can not find it in the bible “but”
When God’s word is not enough in our lives there is only one alternative “Deception”
Kate…….It is taking us to a one world religion………….The Word of Faith think they have all this special knowledge, special revelation from God and so does the NAR, the Emergents, the Mormons, and so forth. They all know it is not in the bible but they say and do it anyway.
God’s word is the measuring stick for me. If it is not in the Word of God, then God did not say it. Have a wonderful Day………….
Even IF this was true -WHICH IS NOT- the after-birth (aftermath) of these so called spiritual birth’s would become a life of delirious worship caused by the spiritual neglect of these “birthers” since they don’t give the PURE milk of the Word that newborn babes need to grow and mature.
So just like a kid growing up in a disfunctional environment w/out proper care and guidance, w/out the instruction and intervention of a godly role model most likely the end result for these new converts ends up in spiritual abortion!
How glorious is the sight of a repented sinner! To see them learn and grow! But how sad is to see them falling while following destructive teachers…
Something that could’ve continue to be glorious becomes “ICHABOD”
Ali nailed it – the “I” in every phrase says it all.
Let the mormons pray for the dead – let us live for Christ.
As I watched this video, it is so hard to believe that I fell for that garbage. I am quite ashamed to say so now that I used to practice this as well. What was I thinking? Oh wait, I wasn’t thinking. It is so sensual and far from anything scriptural. The deception in so strong; I’m sure that many in the audience rationalize doing these practices despite not seeing it in the Word at all.
1Co 14:34 Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also saith the law.
1Co 14:35 And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.
@Ruitje. I am actually a bit astonished, which doesn’t happen often. For the 2nd time in a day, I run across a post or comment regarding “11″. In a post comment by Claris Van Kuiken on Crosstalk blog she informs a poster on the history of why a well known “youth” mission organization chose that number.
Claris’ post is at http://www.crosstalkblog.com/2011/01/world-race-and-adventures-in-missions-an-open-letter/#comments buried way down the page, and she links and cites http://updates.theworldrace.org/?filename=a-world-race-manifesto as source material.
Thank you for pointing out the matter in your response. As you so aptly say, it is “so predictable..”.
Teresa–you are dead on! K
Chrystal,
I thought it would be important to note that Darlene was cleared of any wrong doing in 2007 by the judge and the case was dropped.
Chrystal,
Here is an article from Let us Reason Ministry on this very thing, giving birth in the spirit, th”e New Thing” Really great article and it mentions the New Age movement and how they are talking about the same thing.
http://www.letusreason.org/Latrain11.htm
@ Teresa – amen. A one world religion. You nailed it. and the really sad part, to me anyway, is that those who follow them don’t realize they are fulfilling prophecy, and not the good ones!
@Charity
Yes, but through God’s grace and his revealed written word inscribed on your heart, you knew trash when you saw it revealed as such, even more grateful to a gracious God for his mercy.
Ugh!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is sheer emotionalism. Ms. Bishop initiated a travailing service on Saturday morning and some spirit (not the Holy Spirit) rewarded her with an emotional, fleshly, demonstrative display.
These are the kinds of services I was used to in the Pentecostal churches I grew up in. Creative, dramatic, emotional, and theatrical. Yes, yes, I know there are some sophisticated Pentecostals…
And look at the dear souls who are watching this drama queen, unaware that there’s not a smack of truth in what she’s saying.
How sad I am for all who roam in these circles, listening to these false prophets as they spin their stories and propogate their heresies and not a word about repentance and turning from their evil ways. It is typical charismatic doctrine…you say the name “Jesus” and everyone believes you’re a Christian.
You will never meet the real Jesus through these divas, or through dramatics, contortionists or tall tales. You will meet the real Jesus, as I did, through his Word.
John 4:23
Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks.
I like Pastor Darlene, but sometimes she goes a bit too far out there. You really have to be careful when thousands are watching. She was part of the “big boys” circle a few years ago. I wondered what happened?
Hi Carolyn– you are on the money and good to see your post.
I am a woman of our Most High God! He has give me the privelege of counselling and directing and advising women to follow His intent, which is to be all our Lord has said we can be: great, awesome, chosen as His precious daughters to serve Him as He chooses.
Now, fellas, yes, I do the same for you guys. I pray our God directs all our paths in His wisdom, for His will as He chooses.
I pray the best for all…. K
If you follow Darlene’s theology to it’s logical conclusion, why does God not birth all sinners through us? He loves all men equally…does he not?
It is nonsense. I would be birthing all my unsaved loved ones if it were so. But God has given those we love a will and a choice to follow him. And he will not force anyone by “birthing them” into the kingdom.
Romans 1:15-16
16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes:
notice…it is to everyone who believes…not to those who have been “birthed”.
first to the Jew, then to the Gentile. 17 For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed—a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: “The righteous will live by faith.”
notice it is by faith from first………………………………to last. nothing before, nothing after
Darlene is a woman who has added her own ideas to the gospel. Therefore, she is under a curse. And those who follow her under a curse. Strong words, I know…but hopefully someone wakes up from their stupor and realizes something is amiss with her.
Galatians 1:8
But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let them be under God’s curse!
While reading this article, this scripture came to my remembrance:
“My little children, of whom I travail in birth again until Christ be formed in you,”
Galatians 4:19 KJV
The Greek Word travail is odino (o-dee’-no); which means to experience the pains of parturition (literally or figuratively): Partutition – the the act or process of giving birth.
So, Paul the apostle of the Lord Jesus Christ does refer to a “birthing” in the spirit over the church in Galatia for Christ to be formed in them. There is a traviling (or birthing) in prayer that is scriptural and a confirmation or a “knowing” in the spirit that what you’ve “travailed” has been answered.
I believe that is what Darlene is talking about. Maybe her presentation/or the way she explains it is confusing.
Revelation 2:5 – I believe if you look at this passage in context, you will find that Paul is using a figure of speech for a people that have so quickly deserted the true gospel. He is mystified by their turning to the law and he wants them to be restored to their faith in Christ…the only gospel.
The Judaizers have stolen their hearts away from Christ. So these dear souls who once served the Lord with gratitude in their hearts have now gone back to working for their Salvation. He prays/wishes/travails for them to return to their faith. (by their own will and choice)
Travailling and birthing someone into salvation is not what he is talking about here. Paul could not pray someone into salvation. It was the foolishness of preaching that saved those that would believe. (by their own will and choice).
Darlene is presenting a very false gospel here. And she needs to repent of her own works of salvation (birthing her brother into salvation) and simply preach the gospel of repentence and salvation by faith in Christ.
Hi Kate. Still making snow angels out there in the east?
Keep sharing the good news! Bless you sister! C
Carolyn, thanks for your reply. You are correct in the context of that scripture.
The main point I attempted to make was that there is a “travailing” in prayer for others. Travailing in prayer as led by Holy Spirit is very powerful.
Saviour spirit in full flow. Yet again there is no room for Jesus at the Inn, let alone on the Throne.
@ Rev 2:5 NO! NO! NO!
Rev, Who are you trying to convince us, Darlen or yourself. No, that is not what Darlene Bishop is talking about. She means exactly what she says. She believes, she literally, had to birth her brother in the spirit. She believes by doing so, then God can save her brother. She did not come right out and say that; but I know what the WOF teaches and believes.
If she had not given birth to him, he would not had been saved, “ludicrous”
You can justify her all you’d like. She twist and distorts the scriptures just like the rest of the Word of Faith camp does, cause I have seen her and others in action.
They believe God can do nothing, without their help. They have to do this before God can do that. God’s hand are tied behind his back, he is on the outside looking in and he can do nothing useless we do it. HERESY!!!!!!!! Kenneth Copeland said quote: the biggest failure in the bible is God, blasphemy!!!!!!!!!!
God is the heart changer. Salvation is in Christ alone, grace alone, in faith alone and so forth.
John 6:44 44 No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day. KJV
John 6:65 And he (Jesus) said, Therefore said I unto you, that no man can come unto me, except it were given unto him of my Father. KJV
God is in the business of saving people, not waiting for us to birth them into salvation.
Eph 2:8-9 KJV For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9Not of works, lest any man should boast.
Amplified bible Eph 2:8-9 8 for it is by free grace (God’s unmerited favor) that you are saved ([a]delivered from judgment and made partakers of Christ’s salvation) through [your] faith. And this [salvation] is not of yourselves [of your own doing, it came not through your own striving], but it is the gift of God;
9Not because of works [not the fulfillment of the Law's demands], lest any man should boast. [It is not the result of what anyone can possibly do, so no one can pride himself in it or take glory to himself.]
Darlene is taking credit for something that only God can do…..She is not God nor is she a little god.
Carolyn did a very good job at explaining that scriptural text of what birthing mean…..
Keep it in context………….
I am done, have a wonderful day. Hey Carolyn……….
@Rev………………….If I came on to strong or harsh, forgive me.
You said….. The main point I attempted to make was that there is a “travailing” in prayer for others. Travailing in prayer as led by Holy Spirit is very powerful.
Now that I agree with.
I know what these people teach. Some truth mixed with lots of error and mostly heresy. They are leading people through a broad gate that leads to distruction, and that is heart breaking. Blessings
Teresa, my dear…that is some good preaching sister! How refreshing is the Word!
Revelation 2:5….you are welcome…. I do agree with you… there is travail in the Spirit, a very different thing than what Darlene is promoting.
Christ travailed in prayer in the Garden. That is to say he agonized in prayer; he was troubled in spirit. And the outcome was to come to peace with God’s Sovereign will.
In this you tube clip you have Darlene Bishop speaking people into salvation.
What has happened to God drawing the heart and that no man can come unless God draws them first. I do not detect any teaching about the sovereignty of God or that salvation is in Christ alone, etc……..Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life.
Just because we think we can speak people into salvation does not make them saved.

Hi Carolyn… old friend of mine, meaning: of course you’re not old chrolologically–ha ha!
Remember when we went through that hysterical “baby boomer” thang a few months ago, along with Ms. Teresa ( I don’t agree with that “birthing” doctrine, whatever thing it is either–I ain’t birthing nothing… my days are over, thank God, for babies and spiritual craziness!).
C– you included your darling hubby in conspiring to use pliers to pull my fingernails out to divulge my age? That was great! LOL.
So, here we are still having fun since we all “met” on this site over the summer.
Thanks Chrystal… and bless you as sometimes we may all ramble on…
Umm, definitely not making angels, thanks for asking, but we are screaming, shoveling, and screaming more with crying fits while freezing our… oh, nevermind. Other than that we’re okay. Looks like the Alps and Himalayas… K2, too outside our doors!
Bless you, sis and yes, still sharing God’s word. You keep up the good work too. How’s Canada these days, as bad as here?
Talk to you all soon,
K
May God have mercy upon these types of preachers. I heard nothing of Christ and I heard very little preaching from the word. The Doctrine of Inspiration is truly under attack in the word of faith movement. The Holy Spirit is 1000 miles away from teaching void of the glorification of Christ.
Here is another snip it for you. Her scripture twisting, truth mixed with error.
So, what happens when people are not healed ? What happens ? (1) They hate God or blame God (2) they blame themselves, thinking they did something wrong or did not have enough faith in their faith or enough faith at all.
Do we have “faith in our faith” …….as Darlene teaches….. or do we have faith in Jesus Christ, the teachings of Jesus Christ and God Word. Maybe I should say the Jesus Christ and God of the Bible.
Her brother died of cancer believing or convinced that he was healed. This is sad.
God is sovereign and still on the throne……………..
Kate…reference: “old friend of mine, meaning: of course you’re not old chrolologically–ha ha!”
Are you my elder? Now, I might show some respect if I knew for sure….just sayin…..
No snow angels? Fun’s over huh? Well, despite all, you are still in good humour.
Been watching the chaos out there. One of the headlines read “Uncle”. I found that quite funny.
Well, Kate, keep your boots on, coat done up and stay warm. Take care, y’hear? And if you want a break from the snow…we are having picnic weather here in BC.
Meanwhile, the seas are roaring, the kingdoms are in distress, the Middle East is a mess, there are floods, fires and famines and the earth is shaking…the Lord’s coming soon, and I’m more than ready. Keep lookin up!
Love y’all, Carolyn
Teresa – more theatrics. Watched the video. Wow, to think I used to think that was normal! Now it makes me tired. She is just a regular old hyper charismatic, whipping the crowd into a momentum gathering, gear dropping, eye popping, frenzy. Vrrrrrrrrm!!
Picnic weather, huh? I’ve got me boots ‘n warm jacket while slung over me shoulder is the ever present snow shovel ready for the next storm! “Uncle” is an understatement.
No, my dear, not your elder– just your contemporary. But we still must give honor to one another– we can rib and have fun, because we don’t seem to step over boundaries we set, which is good.
Yes, that Egyptian fiasco is going to be a bigee–we’ll have to be wary and use much wisdom. God bless you all, I’m going to bed after Nightline, which is tackling what we’re takling about right now; no doubt we’re in a ptckle!
K
My contemporary eh? So the cat’s out of the bag. See, Teresa…I knew she’d break sooner or later if I kept at ‘er.
BTW, Kate, what’s a ptckle?
Ms. C–well, a “p t c k l e” = a pickle, a misspelling, good catch! It was late at night and sometimes my eyes go into space somewhere, should put the darned glasses on!
Back to a pickle: it can be a kirby cuke which is immersed in a brine solution and spices are added, where in turn is bottled and refrigerated for a few weeks to produce a pickle!
Oh, you mean the other “pickle”? The proverbial pickle?
A mess– a BIG messy situation that is out of control.
And I was not coaxed (I was tortured) as to my divulging my age which has no bearing on this conversation– wait, it does, I just checked the posts again, ha ha.
We girls here always do this. Funny! K
