It’s a Bird! It’s a Bug! It’s an Angel?!?!

Bud Press and I were discussing the following video and we weren’t able to come to a definite decision about its contents.

Brandon Barthrop, the apostolic huffer with a perpetual spiritual buzz, claims there is an angel in this video.  I think it’s either a bird or a bug.  Bud thinks it’s either a bird or a bug.  One thing I know for sure - it’s not an angel!

What do you think?

(Make sure you read what Barthrop, aka jahlove297, says in the comments section of this video.  Trust me.  Just go read it.)

Looks like a bug. Flies like a bug. This guy’s been hittin the Krippy.

  2. Stan says:

I had a Siamese cat named Tinkerbell. I was probably about 10 times the size of it because I was really so much bigger than it in the physical realm. Glory.

It’s a shame that disturbed man has followers, but the scriptures predict that false prophets would existence in this age. God authorizes that they should test the people to see if they love the Lord their God with all their heart and soul or if they would go after them.

  3. Martin says:

With the depth of deception that particular YouTuber lives in, there’s much more to worry about than a bug flying across the screen. This same person has a ten minute post on having sex with Jesus, so even if it is some type of supernatural manifestation on the video, it probably comes from somewhere south of the heavenlies.

  4. Rev's Kate & Rich M. says:

Great music! Inspiring–but what’s the point? What are we supposed to learn from this and am I missing something–or am I being disrespectful? K

  5. Carolyn says:

Chrystal…I don’t know about that angel(very funny by the way), but I’m pretty sure that a real angel stopped us with connecting with a wall of steel today. We were heading back when a tractor pulling a tandem load of corn pulled out from a field. He fishtailed and all I saw was a wall of steel about 3 feet from our vehicle coming straight for us and suddenly it stopped, swung back onto the right side of the road and was gone. Somehow just before it hit us, it nudged another vehicle into the ditch which took the impact and it all happened so fast, the angel got away before I could thank him. But I know…if it wasn’t for that angel I wouldn’t be talking to you tonight! That’s for sure, for sure!

  6. Ruitje says:

I had ufo’s in my room yesterday!
My brother has a game on his iPhone where you can see your own room through the camera and than ufo’s appear in your own house and you have to shoot them. May be this fellow played that game to much with ‘angels’ ;-)

  7. Dutchie says:

    Do cockroaches fly?

  8. Bud Press says:

    Chrystal:

You stole my thunder! Just kidding. I thought about writing an article on Brandon Barthrop’s latest Bag-O-Buffoonery, but I was too embarrassed to contact bird and bug experts and ask their opinion. I got enough laughs when I conducted research on the “angel feathers” situation:

    http://christianresearchservice.com/AngelFeathers.htm

Nevertheless, I think Barthrop’s “angel” is either a hummingbird or a giant moth. Check out the following links for photographic examples:

    http://www.hummingbirdworld.com/h/

    http://www.pbase.com/fotoopa/flying_insects_2006_part1

Also, in case Barthrop’s video and comments mysteriously disappear, here are two of his comments to a poster:

“Well for a couple years glory angels(tinkerbells) have been materializing around me. The Lord Jesus told me they were actually 20 ft. tall, but we Christians are so big in the Spirit that they appear very very small, only because we are very very big. This one here in this video is at least 10X bigger than the tinkerbells, so going by the measurements the Lord showed me in the spirit it is HUGE. LOL lotta glory! Blessings! Jesus is the uncreated angel of the Lord in the OT. So we are.”

“Bugs don’t fly 100mph, this is at 5x slow motion. Bye the way put it in 1080p and look at it, you can see the angel. LOL and we the sons are the huge and fierce ones. Measurements in the spirit are much different than the natural. This angel is at least over 100 feet tall.”

Giant angels and tinkerbells. Hmmm, if anyone actually believes Brandon Barthrop, they may be interested in some slightly used antique cars (bidding starts at $10,000 each):

Indeed, competition within the Prophetic Movement for hair-raising gimmicks and eye-popping “signs and wonders” is at an all-time high. Demons must erupt into side-splitting laughter when false teachers believe that a bird or a bug is an angel.

  9. Eli says:

Looks like a dragonfly to me. THis guy’s been huffing *something*. I dunno what, but it aint the Holy Spirit. And they call us kooks…sheesh. He needs to step away from the bong and just say “no”! LOL

  10. IWTT says:

Looks like the Lord of the Flies to me…. Or one of those long legged flying bugs that eat mesquitos…. certainly isn’t an angel… no glow around it…. maybe the only glow is what’s going on in this guys head from token, smokin to much wacky tobacky…

  11. Ruitje says:

@Dutchie, I saw you response on the other topic (about Jan Markell). So you are Eekhoorn? Funny, we live in a small world (thanks to the internet). :-)

  12. annunk says:

That’s what we call “waterbugs” in Texas. They’re as big hummingbirds but they’re actually cockroaches and YES, they absolutely do fly. Day or night, they’ll fly right into your home first time you crack the door.

That boy needs to do some house cleaning.

  13. Karamba says:

DO NOT LISTEN TO THIS MAN (or boy)
I can’t even watch his videos for 5 seconds, there is STRONG WITCHCRAFT emanating from the screen. DO NOT WATCH IT !!!

    Matthew 7:22-23

21 Not everyone who says to Me, “Lord, Lord,” shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.
22 Many will say to Me in that day, “Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?”
23 And then I will declare to them, “I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness.”

  14. For those who are wondering, I posted this video so I could get your opinion as to what that “thing” flying through the room is. Most people know this guy is not just a heretic, but probably one of the most deluded people out there. Most people know he can’t open his mouth without blaspheming. That’s not the point. The point is, what do you think that thing is?

    I say it’s either a bug or a bird.

  15. Dutchie says:

    @ Ruitje
Yes I am eekhoorn. It surtainly is a smal world.
By the way, did you ever take a look on the site of Marc Verhoeven from Belgium?
He writes in dutch also about false teachers etc. Maybe you can take a look there and tell me what you think about what he writes. I do not agree with him on everything but he keeps me sharp on a lot of things.

Have a nice and blessed weekend everyone! Shabbat Shalom to you all!

  16. Dutchie says:

Could it be SUPER GROOVER instead???

  17. IWTT says:

Flying bug … as stated by annunk

  18. David North says:

It’s pretty clearly a “sphinx moth” (a.k.a. a hawk moth). The strobbing (super-high speed) is due to the fast motion of the wings (about 30 beats per second), lighting and frame progression. The speaker’s hands aren’t moving at “super speed” either–yet they are blurred.

There is nothing supernatural here in the insect itself or its motion.

  19. ruthsongs says:

I agree it looks like a Sphinx moth. Just saw one in my back yard a few weeks ago.

  20. Teresa says:

Click and see the image ” BEELZEBUB” “It is a bug.

  21. Josh Parker says:

    Looks like a moth.

  22. Mickey Merrie says:

    Holy Ghost Orchid…It’s Sphinx Moth!

  23. mkayla says:

Whatever it is he probably put it in his bong for smoking later on.

  24. seeker3k says:

    It’s a bird, it’s a bug, it’s a blasphemer, it’s Brandon Barthrowup.

He is the living puke of apostacy.

2 Peter 2:22 Of them the proverbs are true: “A dog returns to its vomit,” and, “A sow that is washed goes back to her wallowing in the mud.”

2 Peter 2:12 But these men blaspheme in matters they do not understand. They are like brute beasts, creatures of instinct, born only to be caught and destroyed, and like beasts they too will perish.

Brandon’s brother in ministry (through the same lying spirits) John Crowder is the living defecation of spiritual infections and gangrene teaching.

How wonderful to be in heaven away from ugly blasphemy like Brandon Barthrop and John Crowder.

How awful to be in Hell amongst people like Brandon Barthrop and John Crowder.

I must take care to avoid deception and end up on a slippery slope that leads to the lake of fire.

    Don’t be deceived.
    ===============

Luke 21:8 ….. “Watch out that you are not deceived. For many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am he,’ and, ‘The time is near.’ Do not follow them.

2 Cor 11:3 But I am afraid that just as Eve was deceived by the serpent’s cunning, your minds may somehow be led astray from your sincere and pure devotion to Christ.

Gal 6:7 Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows.

1 Corinthians 6:9-10 Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God.

James 1:16 Don’t be deceived, my dear brothers.

2 Thes 2:9 The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with the work of Satan displayed in all kinds of counterfeit miracles, signs and wonders,

Rev 20:10the devil, who deceived them, was thrown into the lake of burning sulfur, where the beast and the false prophet had been thrown. They will be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

Thankyou discernment web sites and all true “heresy hunters” everywhere for identifying fraud to give me the confidence to make decisions towards avoiding danger.

Identifying fraud is an important ministry towards preventing Christians from losing their salvation through deception.

Many Christians are indirectly loving and practicing falsehood through participating in fraudulent ministry and hiding behind “do not judge”, and “don’t speak against God’s anointed”, etc.

Rev 22:15 Outside are the dogs, those who practice magic arts, the sexually immoral, the murderers, the idolaters and everyone who loves and practices falsehood.

  25. Teresa says:

    @ Mkayla LOL LOL
You made me laugh on that on. He is diffently smokin something.

  26. Sincerely says:

    Looked like tinkerbell….about the scale.

But the real question is, did the angel make itself known or just fly by without anyone knowing it was there.

It if it was known, what was the reason, what was the message?

I would personally find it hard to believe that a real angel would fly through a video, not make itself known to those in attendance, not speak anything about Him who sent it, not be singing Glory and Honor to God on High, and not bringing a message.

Old Testament survey class keeps me very busy as well!

  30. chacholibre says:

Probably just a bird or an insect – I was once involved with the
‘hyper – anointed’ crowd where everything was supernatural . . .
alas the Lord opened my eyes with the gift of discernment, and
instead I literally ‘saw’ (don’t ask me how – the Lord just ‘allowed’
me to ‘see’) demons in place, where people instead thought it was
a ‘move’ of God — the enemy truly comes like an angel of light — but
he has them fooled — they are chasing the gift, instead of the gift-
giver, Jesus. The Lord, only once, gave me a vision of an angel –
it looked NOTHING like that — christians are so gullible, it’s
sad — we need to test the spirits… nothing holy about that video.

  31. Rev's Kate & Rich M. says:

@ chacholibre–my husband and I were just talking about that the other night and your’re right on the money! My sister and I, just tonight talked about this same subject: keeping our eyes on the Giver and not the gifts–how Satan uses these crazy apparitions, et al, to divert us.

I also know, God does give us a peek into the supernatural, but that’s not where we are to direct our attention.

I have seen, yes I have, many, many unusual and inexplicable things; I have learned, thankfully, if I keep my eyes on Christ and give Him the glory, only then my/our God-given gift of discernment will keep us all in line with God’s word.

Thank you for a wonderful and truthful comment which has encouraged me and surely those who will read it too.

    God bless you,
    K

  32. Teresa says:

    @ Chacholibre
You are dead on with your comment. Another thing I’d like to add; I learned with this group everything has a spirit. Instead of calling it sin, calling people unto repentance and calling people unto salvation through Jesus Christ, they by pass the cross. They are always trying to cast demons out of people, places and things but sadly people are still left sinners “in bondage” with no Saviour, no cross, no redeemer and no true conversion of the heart. God bless you Isn’t GOD AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You don’t need drugs to be playing around in blasphemy and immoral manifestations.

People, stop wasting space on blogs speculating whether these blasphemers are on drugs, puffing on bongs, etc.

In making those assertions you may be obscuring important truth for all Christians to know.

These people probably aren’t on any drugs, they are just participating in the consequence of regular “charismatic Christianity” which has always followed imaginations, pride, and any “fun stuff” people dream up, excusing it with the phrase “in the name of Jesus” and “King David did it”, “Nobody’s perfect”, “don’t put God in a box”, etc.

They don’t need to take drugs to get a euphoric high because something more powerful is available.

Spiritual power from familiar spirits (demons masquerading as friendly angels).

    Deuteronomy 18:10-14 (KJV)
10There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch.
11Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer.
12For all that do these things are an abomination unto the LORD: and because of these abominations the LORD thy God doth drive them out from before thee.
13Thou shalt be perfect with the LORD thy God.
14For these nations, which thou shalt possess, hearkened unto observers of times, and unto diviners: but as for thee, the LORD thy God hath not suffered thee so to do.

Familiar spirits supply the powers that people in indigenous cultures use in witchdoctor paganism.

In “civilised” cultures the same spirits operate through “New Age”, occult, Roman Catholicism, and “Charismatic Pentecostalism”.

All of it can be done “in the name of Jesus” because there are false Christs.

Running around naked fondling each other is the next “revelation” to be sought within “charismatic Christianity”, all to be done “in the name of Jesus”.

Someone will teach that we recover the innocence of Eden when we become a Christian, so we should “cast aside fear”, “step out in faith” and go about naked, eat from “the tree of life” now, etc.

Who will volunteer to lead the way? John Crowder? Brandon Barthrop? One of their disciples?

Crowder and Barthrop are already setting this up by using sex act rhetoric in their descriptions of relationship to God.

Charismaticism has always followed faulty unbiblical logic, so always produces acts of the sinful nature and false doctrine.

That is why its teachers usually end up in adultery/sodomy/loving money.

Its usual manifestations of spiritual drunkenness and “slain” (falling over) and talking gibberish (mocking “tongues”) testify it is empowered by the fallen angel and god of drunkenness and chaos, Lucifer.

Luke 10:18 ……..”I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven.”

Fallen angel = falling over = slain:

Jer 51:37-40 Babylon will be a heap of ruins, a haunt of jackals, an object of horror and scorn, a place where no one lives. Her people all roar like young lions, they growl like lion cubs. But while they are aroused, I will set out a feast for them and make them drunk, so that they shout with laughter–then sleep forever and not awake,” declares the LORD. “I will bring them down like lambs to the slaughter, like rams and goats.

On Brandon Barthrop’s RLM website there is a link “Dread Champions” which plays repetitive beat music with the only words being “Get drunk. Drunk. Drunk. Drunk”.

See this article to understand how the present era of “Charismatic Christianity” began in Azusa St. “revival” in the early 1900’s. Also Google “Azusa Street pandemonium”.

People, get busy understanding the roots of this rottenness and examine whether you have really rid yourself of the charismatic perversions of Christianity and all the deviant teachings and practices it developed. It wasn’t started by John Crowder or Brandon Barthrop. They are just the “maturing” of it.

“Charismatic/Pentecostal Christianity” has helped prepare the church and the world to love the antichrist.

Don’t anyone reply with “don’t throw the baby out with the bathwater”, because the answer to that is “there’s no baby in there, it was always a plastic doll” (and John Crowder has been “smoking it”).

A skull and crossed swords (shown on his RLM site) is a fitting symbol of Brandon Barthrop’s testimony and ministry and its certain destiny, where all pirates and wicked people end up.

A skull and crossed swords is a fitting symbol of the entire Pentecostal-Charismatic movement with its “dirty bathwater and plastic doll”.

    Throw them both out.

The Bible has not changed. Read it.

The Bible was closed off from additions and insertions about 2000 years ago.

It hasn’t changed since, and is still the only standard for faith, belief, doctrine, and practices.

Denominations, “isms”, and church history never were the standard.

Everybody get busy reading the Bible.

That is the way to reduce vulnerability to the influence of “isms”, denominations, and deceptions.

Then whenever you attend local church gathering, you can have confidence in your own discernment, and not be so disappointed when error and misbehaviour manifests.
The Bible has already predicted it, and gives the logical basis to refute it.

Here is a log sheet to help the discipline to keep reading the Bible.

The understanding of good Biblical counsel is the “food” to keep you alive.

Matthew 4:4 ….”It is written: ‘Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”

    Notice the “it is written”.

If the Holy Spirit is the author of “what is written” (author of the Bible, through guiding its contributing writers), then read the Bible and follow its counsel.

Don’t practice “meditation” wanting and waiting for the Holy Spirit to come and tell you a story or give you a prophecy, to manifest in a physical apparition, or give you a magic carpet ride to the xth heaven.

    Guess who will turn up?

The counsellors of John Crowder, Brandon Barthrop, Benny Hinn, Rick Joyner, Todd Bentley and all other false religions, occult and “New Age”.

    Lying spirits. Unidentified flying objects.

The originating prophets of false “Christian” religions such as Mormonism, Jehovah’s witness and Seventh Day Adventism were all guided by visitations from lying spirits masquerading as friendly angels.

    Familiar spirits.

Anyone not sufficiently informed and carefully following God’s “it is written” (counsel and sound doctrine from the Bible) will be easily deceived by familiar spirits towards eternal destruction:

    1 Timothy 4:1-3
    The Great Apostasy
1 Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons, 2 speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their own conscience seared with a hot iron, 3 forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from foods which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth. (NKJV)

    For example:
“commanding to abstain from foods” = Seventh Day Adventism cult.
“forbidding to marry” = Roman Catholic dogma forbidding its priests to marry.
“conscience seared with a hot iron” = liars and false prophets like Benny Hinn and Todd Bentley continuing their ways in the face of reliable proof they are frauds.

Seeker3K You need to relax. I found Mkayla’s comment to be funny. This group John Crowder, Ben Dunn and more talk about token the ghost, smoking Jehovah-Juana and so forth. I did not say they were using drugs of any sort.
If my comment offended you, forgive me. If my comments are a waste of your time, then move on, Chrystal, can and will delete my comments at the click of a button, if I am out of line. I have not and will not obscure the truth of God or his Word. If my comment offended you then forgive me and I will be more careful.

  35. Carolyn says:

Seeker3k – I’m just going to come right out and say it. I am forgiven and accepted in Christ by my friends here on this blogsite. I haven’t forgotten our last discussion.
If you still believe that I’m living in immorality because of a second marriage, then no use me reading and commenting on your comments. I will always feel less than credible with you. Did you read the article on the Divorce Site I linked to?

I have no other issues with you other than you could lighten up a bit. So intense! My sweet friend Teresa was just enjoying a moment of LOL. Let her have some fun! After all she has 2 kids and a dog AND a husband!

Azuza Street…read that many years ago…and today, I passionately do not agree with it! It’s no different than the Toronto Blessing. I DO believe the gifts of the spirit are in evidence today in the lives of all Christians, without all the nonsense. The Spirit makes his Word known and understood to us today as he did in Paul’s day. The Spirit still works through us to minister to others, encouragement, exhortation, edification, etc. in perfect freedom and joyfulness.
    I like you, Seeker3k; you’re a deep thinker, but……..how will it with you…with me?

John Crowder “smoking what” I am not wanting a debate, I am asking a simple question, please explain what you mean? Because you are judging me when you are basically saying the samething.

I never mentioned no bong, I said he was smoking something. I did not mentioned any drugs.

  37. mkayla says:

I made the bong comment. I confess —I am the radical one.

Seeker, it matters not one bit to me whether or not these guys use drugs or alcohol – real or imagined. They are apostates, heretics, dead in spirit as tombs. They are the ones who make a joke of the Holy Spirit, reducing Him to nothing more than a drug/alcohol induced high. We don’t take their actions and the sorrowful fact that they lead others astray lightly.

I made a joke, people laughed. It happens. It’s not a waste of my time to take a moment aside from serious blogging and research to laugh out loud.

  38. Carolyn says:

    @Teresa – you said:
I never mentioned no bong, I said he was smoking something. I did not mentioned any drugs.

Thank you for clarifying that….very relieved. I went back just to make sure. :-)

I suppose the apparent contradiction does need an explanation.

On one of his “Jesus Trips” (associating Jesus with drug hallucination) John Crowder stated “smoking baby Jesus” and he carried a plastic baby doll as the object to accompany the spiritual drunkenness sessions that surrounded that.

These people use a lot of drug rhetoric towards God, eg. “Getting high on the most High”, “Jehovahjuana”, etc., but don’t take drugs.

Any assertion towards them actually being on drugs is a trap to deflect away from their apostacy and how to deal with it.

The fact that John Crowder tours the world and is welcomed into many regular type churches is a hint of subtle false beliefs that have been followed everywhere for a long time.

If there was any evidence of them taking real drugs, then those churches wouldn’t accept them in.

They are having real paranormal experiences into the xth heavens through contact with evil spirits that they call “Holy Spirit” and “Jesus”.

The contact with those spirits produces similar side effect as taking real drugs.

Toronto “Blessing” sessions made church gatherings look like drug dens and prostitution houses.

There is spiritual prostitution and physical prostitution.
There is spiritual drug taking and physical drug taking.
There is spiritual drunkenness and physical drunkenness

    All of them are evil.

  40. Carolyn says:

Seeker3k – It is not a lengthy thesis on divorce and remarriage that I want from you. I have my answers from Biblical PhDs on that already, but I was wondering if you could relate to me with concern for my well being. Telling me that God will take care of my needs if I just do something based on your doctrinal flowchart is not what I was after.
You concentrate on the Pentecostals and the Charismatics, but equally heretical and disturbing is a man without a heart.

The legalistic Pharisees were correcting doctrine from their counterparts the Saducees, and were both severe and strict in their adherance to every jot. But they missed the weightier things, like mercy and empathy with human weakness.

In Jesus stories, it is this heresy of legalism that walks by on the other side of the road and leaves the Samaritan to pick up the tab for the man who has been beaten by robbers.
Jesus captures the legalistic hardness of heart in the elder son who has no sense of restoration for his repentant brother.
He includes the Pharisee who is full of greed and hypocrisy but the first to pick up a stone to hurl at the woman caught in adultery.

I think legalistic heresy is the worst kind of heresy because it is the austerity of religion casting its formal and miserable shadows over its victims leaving them lonely and empty. There is no Spirit in their doctrine, as discussed in an earlier post with HighRPM, only harsh, barren rules and traditions taught by men with long faces and gloomy countenances. “Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees!” warned Jesus. It is an awful pit to fall into.
They are so blinded by their own selfish adherance to doctrines that they completely miss the reason why Jesus came in the first place…to save PEOPLE. He cared about PEOPLE. And the REASON he wants us to GET DOCTRINE RIGHT, is because it is the TRUTH that sets us free, that gives us HIS Life, that allows HIS joy to bubble up from the Spiritual springs deep within us. He wants us to know the Truth because we can be rescued from “this wretched man” to live life in the Spirit and by the Spirit’s character and power.

It is the Life in the Spirit that caused him to go out of his way to meet the woman at the well who had five husbands and a boyfriend, in order to care about her receiving the Truth of his caring about her as an individual and to tell her personally that her sins were forgiven.

Performance based Christianity is self focused and brutally cruel.

Life in the Spirit is obedience to the Spirit, producing the fruit of His Spirit, all as a natural outflow of being in Christ. It is pulling up alongside our fellow human being, knowing that what we have been given by the grace of God is really ALL we have to GIVE. Our own empty prideful adherence to doctrine will do them no good!

For those who are a product of their legalistic backgrounds, I wish for you to break free and to experience all that Life in the Spirit vs life in the flesh (however good and decent your flesh may be) has to offer!

What’s going on here, girls, did I miss something?

Ahh yes, Seeker, my man–hmm, I do remember you, how ya doin’? Carolyn and I are heretics, you know, being married more than once–I’m just being a pain… LOL.

You know we all love ya! K :)

I said he was “diffently smokin something” I did not say they use drugs, You made that assumption on your own. One could have made the same assumption from you comment.

We all need to make sure that we are not “obscuring important truth” but we can still have fun and LOL once in a while. We do not need to be stiff neck and so serious all the time.

I found Mkayala’s comment to be funny and I still LOL when I read it.

Mkayla amen to your last comment as well.

God bless and love you guy’s

I made the bong comment. I confess —I am the radical one.

Seeker, it matters not one bit to me whether or not these guys use drugs or alcohol – real or imagined. They are apostates, heretics, dead in spirit as tombs. They are the ones who make a joke of the Holy Spirit, reducing Him to nothing more than a drug/alcohol induced high. We don’t take their actions and the sorrowful fact that they lead others astray lightly.

I made a joke, people laughed. It happens. It’s not a waste of my time to take a moment aside from serious blogging and research to laugh out loud.

    God Bless you Mkayala!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  45. Carolyn says:

@ Kate – Ok…if you want my opinion and I’m sure you don’t, but you’re going to get it anyway…I would go with the Sphinx moth.

And by the way, I forget, did you say you were a Generation X? or Y?

  46. David North says:

Some interesting discussion here. Regarding the angle, it is almost with complete certainty a sphinx moth. The little “winged tail” at the end of the abdomen is pretty distinctive. Sphinx moth’s are often mistaken for hummingbirds and can be quite large and brightly colored. Really no mystery here.

I agree with Seeker3k’s warnings about a growing acceptance in the charismatic communities for basically “anything” but I also heartily applaud the comment by Carolyn regarding legalism.

Charismatics are not all lost and depraved souls following delusions and demons and not all “upright” bible fundamentalists are walking in a true relationship with Jesus.

Supposedly the world is to know us by our love for one another and I don’t think the emphasis there was on warning one another but on actually loving one another.

When we paint carelessly with a broad strokes we can easily mark ourselves as well as the thing we wanted to color.

  47. Rev's Kate & Rich M. says:

A Sphinx moth, huh? Thanks, David…how’d you figure that out? I still do not want that thing in my house!

Hmm, implication is: Ms C, that I do not care what you think– I will never, ever, ever forgive you for that…

Actually I’m generation “Y”–which is, “Why” am I a Baby Boomer?

There ya go! Did you find the pliers, by the way? :) K

  48. Carolyn says:

@Mr. North – thank you! Everyone appreciates being appreciated, which is why I am acknowledging you and kudos for your comment!

@Kate – Group Age Range. Teens 12-17. Gen Y 18-32. Gen X 33-44. Younger Boomers: 45-54. Older Boomers: 55-63. Silent Generation: 64-72 …these are the approx. age ranges depending on which site you are on.
So, you are 28ish? I told my husband that you said about the nails coming off…his reply was “it would only take one nail”…but no need for pliers now…

  49. Sandy B says:

Mothra! Mothra! Soon to be seen attacking Tokyo. But where are the two little princesses? Don’t worry, Godzilla will defend Monster Island. :)

  50. Rev's. Kate & Rich M. says:

Lordy– this site is a trip! Mothra, very funny, Sandy B– you have entered into the silly zone which keeps us all, the “wolf-watching-weary warriors”, continually contending for the faith and not losing the strength to keep on keeping on; let us not be weary in well doing.

Now onto more serious business: Missy Carolyn–your husband is most probably correct, as one “pull” should definitely do it, bless his soul for his great wisdom.

    Twenty-eight ish? I wish.

Keep smiling, guys and let’s keep having some fun as we watch for wolves… :) K

  51. David North says:

    YW Carolyn.

I grew up in Mississippi and we had humminbirds from the South all the way from ones blown on winds from Central America. We also had hawk moths at night and they look and sound like bats flying when you bump a bush with some in it. Every now and again i would see one of the sphinxes and wonder, “What the heck is that!?”. We had some bird watching books and I checked in there and found a reference to them. I have seen dozens of them and they sometimes fall to the ground and can’t right themselves–looking exactly like a humminbird from a distance. I’ve righted fallen hummingbirds but it freaks you out when you reach for it and realize its a bug.

On the topic, I’ve had real supernatural things happen in my life–ones that were God and ones that were not. I didn’t seek the experiences but they definitely opened my otherwise skeptical mind. It took me many years to find the place in my faith for all these things and I hate to see them misrepresented to Christians–on either side of the fence. Often people with no experience breezily use learned doctrines to dismiss everything that is claimed to be supernatural but sometimes it must be dealt with. I think it’s why so many are willing to believe a charltan or a that a moth might be an angel…they hunger for a real experience with God and hope, “This might be it!”.

The only thing that got me through the personal supernatural labyrith I entered was Jesus. The religious “advice” I received from all around me at that time was worthless. Meet Christ for real and you won’tlook for angels in the form of bugs.

I love Ecclesiastes 7:18…”It is good that you grasp one thing and also not let go of the other; for the one who fears God comes forth with both of them.”.

  52. seeker3k says:

    >> David North October 25, 2010 at 4:08 am “Charismatics are not all lost and depraved souls following delusions and demons and not all “upright” bible fundamentalists are walking in a true relationship with Jesus.

If you are not an upright Bible fundamentalist then you are not a christian as you have no foundation (the fundamentals) to base your belief on.

“Fundamentalist” and “Charismatic” are only labels useful to a point. Those labels do not appear in the Bible, so you have to define the meaning you intend they represent and link this with Bible quotation, otherwise you are just waffling with religious intellectualism. People often don’t like to be labeled because they don’t agree with the definition assigned to that label.

I am not a fundamentalist, I am a Christian who follows the fundamentals of the major true doctrines and pays lesser attention to the minor true doctrines.

I associate “Charismatic” with all the scriptures about entertainment, witchcraft, bewitched, works of the flesh, lying signs and wonders, deception, casting off restraint, seeking counsel from spirits of inner voices or apparitions.

I associate “Fundamentalist” with all the scriptures about obedience, sound foundation, loving truth, hating falsehood, sound mind, sober, seeking counsel from what the spirit wrote (the Holy Spirit wrote in the Bible through guiding its contributing writers).

I have quoted scriptures that represent some of my definition of “charismatic” in the previous posts that used that label.

    >> Supposedly the world is to know us by our love for one another

The Buddists have love one for another. Satanists have love one for another.

We shouldn’t “love one another” in a sense of being in unity and agreement unconditionally because “christians” (another label) are following different christs.

The christ you follow is revealed by the doctrine you believe and the way you live.
There is one true christ and many false christs.

There is division amongst “christians” because of the struggle between different christs being followed.

It is a struggle for truth and the prize is the true Jesus Christ who is the way, the truth, and the life.

The prize for complacency (being lukewarm and compromising) is the antichrist (the ultimate false christ).

The Holy spirit is on the side of those who love truth and hate falsehood (the christian life involves both love and hate).

Lying spirits are on the side of those who seek compromise to achieve unity, which is the basis of “the emerging church” with its multitude of false gospels.

This is why true Christians are increasingly being called “haters” and the compromisers being called “loving”.

    >> Supposedly the world is to know us by our love for one another and I don’t think the emphasis there was on warning one another but on actually loving one another.

“Loving one another” must include warning one another, as otherwise you are indirectly assisting the other to stay in their deception and journey to danger.

There is more fraud than truth in the world.
Increasingly, there is more fraud than truth in churches.

David North you have spoken seriously harmful counsel, and have indirectly rebuked God who has given all the Bible statements to base warnings on.

The gospel message of salvation has a strong warning component.

John 3:16-18 “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.
Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.

The warning highlighted above is intended to jolt people out of unbelief into belief.

Then there are the multitude of scriptures warning about deception and warning about losing your salvation, “falling away”.
This blog is named on the basis of warning about “wolves”:

Matthew 7:15 “Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves.

Acts 20:29-31 I know that after I leave, savage wolves will come in among you and will not spare the flock. Even from your own number men will arise and distort the truth in order to draw away disciples after them. So be on your guard! Remember that for three years I never stopped warning each of you night and day with tears.

You have asserted the basis of a false gospel “we should be loving, not warning one another” and are indirectly rebuking God against the warnings he has given through scripture which we should constantly be reminding each other.

Brandon Barthrop and John Crowder are 2 highly visible “wolves” roaming about.
They are recruiting people to love and practice falsehood and blaspheme God.
Anyone who participates with them will have a bad ending if they don’t repent in time.

    >> When we paint carelessly with a broad strokes we can easily mark ourselves as well as the thing we wanted to color.

You used your “paintbrush” to obscure truth.

  53. David North says:

    Hi Seeker.

I’m a “fundamentalist” myself. I also have a genuine personal walk with Christ.

I don’t need a misguided John Crowder to give me hope and I am doctrinally sound enough where he can’t shake my theology or lead me astray.

I’m not saying, “love at the cost of compromise” either but neither am I carelessly directing warnings at people without stopping first to make sure I am doing it from a genuine love for Christ.

I love God and have a fear of Him–but it is the strength of love that frees me to bear the fear. Even without love, I would fear God but with His love I can trust Him.

I may have said it here before but I have been thrown out of a church for refusing to endorse a wrong view and I have been spit on and twice threatened with violence for warning individual Christians in sin.

I also have prayerfully bitten my lip and kept silent on occasion as God worked patiently with people with whom my own instincts would not have led me to patience with…and I am always surprised in the end when I realize the Lord knew something in the situation that I was just not able to see.

My wife has heard me preach for years and says it is like each word is finger poking her in the chest when the message impacts her.

What I have learned in my life is simply this, If you do not know the love of Christ, you will never be able to live pleasingly before Him by obeying His Word…but you can mechanically obey and religiously perform and never know His love.

We must face sin and judgment to receive Christ but if we can’t see His love when we will never be able to approach Him. The “Good News” is not only the written text but it is the love if God shown through Christ.

So I don’t have the viewpoint that, “Love is good BUT they need to be warned!”…we all need both–Christ AND Him crucified.

  54. David says:

I finally went to the YouTube channel of Brandon, and read the same comments posted by Bud Press. This guy is stoned off his tree!! I wouldn’t say that he is an evil person but he is defnitely seriously deluded due to the drugs he’s taking. He’s barely coherent in the beginning of this video, and can’t keep his eyes open:

    http://www.youtube.com/user/Jahlove297#p/a/81B7718E232D89A6/0/lfOZuuAqFRU

He can’t be taken seriously with “The Church of Joel’s Bar Intergalactic” (or something like that). He strikes me as more of a Rastafarian than a Christian.

  55. David says:

@seeker3k, I certainly know first hand that he is smoking dope. I used to run a performance cafe many years ago that was frequented by the true, hard core Rasatfarians. Smoking marijuana is part of the “worship” to get them “closer to god”.

So, do I take offense at him? No, I just think he’s an idiot. Brandon is off in his own little world. I most certainly wouldn’t look for or listen to anyone like him – ever! The only way I found out about him is here on this blog. BTW, I used to be one of those “Fundamentalist Preachers”.

Basically, everything Brandon Bartrop says as does won’t be taken seriously. He simply looks a mess. Who is doing the most serious damage at the moment? Brandon with his “angel” that is so obviously a bug, or Benny Hinn with his “miracle healing” crusades. The most damage he will do is basically dissuade unbelievers in that they will think “Oh no! Not another christian nutcase”.

I couldn’t be bothered with the videos or “sermons”, but does Brandon actually use scriptures? The titles to his videos seemed so far fetched.

  56. David says:

Firstly, I unreservedly apologize for saying this man Brandon is “harmless”. He is anything but! I finally turned on the sound and heard the Name of our Lord Jesus being mocked and blasphemed by this demon possessed false prophet!! The whole tone of his video was very nasty. Even though he greeted the view in the Name of The Lord, he immediately burst into laughter! Only a serioulsy demon possessed individual would do that:

In the meantime, I went to check out Red Letter Ministries, and did some serious “Heresy Hunting”. here’s what I found:

    ABOUT RED LETTER MINISTRIES

1: RLM is a Kingdom of Heaven Ministry

2: RLM was founded in Minneapolis Minnesota in the spring of 2006

3: RLM is discipling the nations into Heaven on Earth by manifesting the fire and glory of the Lord Jesus Christ

4: RLM’s destiny is global conquest in relationship with all God’s sons.

OK, the last line is most definitely of Dominionist origin. However, let me add this thought. This is the first time that I’ve seen the open use of the word “conquest”. Also, I believe that the “sons of god” being referred to here in no.4 are the devil and his angels. They’ve always wanted to global conquest from the beginning.

There are numerology charts, all sorts of New Age downloads, and images that are toltally ungodly. There’s also rubbish like the “Tree of Life Healing Decree” which is nothing but a bunch of individual scriptures taken completely out of context!! This is a good example of the Doctrines of Devils being preached by Red Letter Ministries:

The photos and claims on the bottom of this page will no doubt seem familiar:

    http://redlettermin.com/whackingmaterial.php

If you thought that was bad, check out ths claim:

“What is The Crack Shop? It is the Kratos! Aka Cracktos, the energy of Christ Jesus that dominates the spirit world. Our Crack will empower you to walk in the full potential of the DNA of Jesus inside your heart!

For Nimbit orders: Nimbit will send a link to your email to download MP3s. Click on total album price to purchase all tracks. New lower prices!”

    and this:

    “Monatomic Elemental Gold”

“Monatomic elemental gold is a superconductor of light and aids in transfiguration. In the bible it is the manna the Israelites ate in the wilderness and their clothes never wore out. The high priest’s showbread contained monatomic gold as well. It is also the dust described in Genesis 2 that Adam’s body was made from. This gold protein molecule is antigravitational! The benefits are numerous, such as increased energy, less sleep needed, alertness, mind acuteness, balancing, heals DNA, and much more. Psalms calls it angel food. The bible says “Everyone ate the bread of the mighty [man ate angels' food]” -Psalms 78:25. This angel food is monatomic elemental gold. Taking monatomic gold is completely safe and extremely beneficial to the body.

-Click here to view how our monatomic gold is made from 99.99% pure gold.

-RLM’s monatomic gold is the highest quality available on the market.

-How to use: Mix 1/8 teaspoon (1/2 gram) in 4 oz. of water, or juice and drink slowly.

    -15 grams is a 1 month supply.

    -Buy in quantity and save.

-Ships next business day, 2-3 day first class shipping for USA. International shipping 2-7 day first class, you assume all responsibility for customs.”

There’s all that and more here:

    http://redlettermin.com/crackshop.html

I really like this line reagarding the “monatomic gold dust”:

“This gold protein molecule is antigravitational!”

Strange, I always thought gold was a metal. So, as you can see this man and the “church” he represents are extremely evil, and full of damnable heresies!! RLM even have the gaul to solicit donations form “partners”.

It’s possible that Bud Press already has this information and more about Red Letter Ministries on his website.

  57. David North says:

Thanks for the details David. I never went further than a few seconds into one of the Youtube videos because it was so obviously demonic…and I don’t say that casually as I have been there.

This sort of person IS a person for whom I personally can say, False Gospel”. It isn’t simply doctrinal differences…the man shows behavior that screams, “I follow something I call Jesus but that is really something else.”

I get concerned about legalistic approaches to Christianity particularly because of people like this. People hungering for closeness to God who don’t know it are often lured by people like this who claim to “have the real thing” and then end up ruined spiritually and emotionally after they become mired in increasingly downward spiraling experiences. The bottom line is they end up following the man and his promise of leading them to Jesus instead of Jesus–he becomes a literal “false christ”.

Fulfillment of biblical standards can only truly happen when they result from a commitment to Jesus. This doesn’t mean we shouldn’t strive to emulate them but emulation is by definition more of an effort to simulate and copy rather than the actual thing emulated. You can spend your entire life “emulating” if you place yourself in a place where that is modeled to you as “truth” and never realize you’ve missed Jesus…again, another false christ.

Legalistic and charismatic excess both are false gospels. The former elevates effort and chosen behavior to be equal to salvation and the latter identifies metaphysical practices and emotional experience as “proof of relationship”…another false christ.

My prayer is no one becomes deceived into thinking that Jesus is to harsh or aloof to be approached or that He is so indifferent that He has no care for how He is approached. He is both Lord AND Savior.

The truth will set you free.

I am sure this person in the video is suffering and it grieves me–even as it angers me to think of the damage he can do. There is nothing of God in his behavior, he just tacks God’s name onto his actions. Another concern I have is that he very well can be completely insincere–a pretender. A lot of his statements and behavior suggest that may be the case.

Read the book of Jude in the New Testament (right before the book of Revelation). It’s very brief and speaks directly to this sort of person.

  58. David says:

@ David North, this man Brandon Barthrop and his “gospel” reminds me of all those fake Rolex watches. They appear to be the real thing at first glance, but when you check them against a real Rolex, the massive differences show up, espescially in quality and finish. So, that’s a good example as we compare the truth of the scriptures against all the various “other gospels” being taught and proclaimed around the world today.

I believe that he is totally insincere. The Jehovah’s Witnesses are decieved and in error, yet they are sincere in their beliefs. The same with the UPC, who are the perfect example of legalism gone mad. However, Brandon doesn’t believe a word of what he’s “preaching”. He’s in it for the money. His website/ministry has too many vairables in teaching/beliefs and each is incompatible with the other.

  59. Carolyn says:

Goodness…how many Davids are there???! I can tell by the icons that you are the same, but not the same. Be thankful that there is only one Carolyn. :-)

  60. David says:

Hi Carolyn, this is the third time my icon has changed! I look st them and think, “another (different) David has replied” just to realize it’s me!

  61. Carolyn says:

@ David…Ha. Good to know. Don’t you love computers? So are you NZ David? Maybe you could add something beside your name so that you and the rest of us don’t get confused. It’s sort of nice to know who we’re talking to…a familiar icon…a familiar wave…something familiar to build on…
