GodTV has feverishly been trying to raise $4 million by May 31. They have sent out a new e-mail plea that makes it clear that they really, really need you to send them some money. As I was reading through their latest e-plea, I was struck by a few things. I’ll quote parts of it below with my own comments.
It’s not too late to be part of this urgent appeal… please PUSH THROUGH with us now to help settle the crippling shortfall of our last financial year. If you haven’t yet responded please do so now. (Source)
Okay, that’s some of the same drama that we’ve been hearing. They’re on the edge of losing everything and only YOU and your wallet can stop it. Nothing different here.
And if you have [already donated], perhaps you would consider adding to your seed today to move GOD TV from the red into the black. (emphasis mine)
Translation: “I know you’ve already sent us some money, but could you send us some more??? Please!?!?”
Please send your prayer requests too, so that we and our intercessory team can pray over your needs. If you would like to include your photo we will display it on the walls of our Jerusalem Broadcast HQ.
Hold the phone! Okay, let’s reason this out. Rory and Wendy Alec, according to their urgent pleas, can’t meet their own needs, yet they want you to send them your prayer requests so they can pray over yours? Am I the only one thinking there is something wrong with this picture?
I, for one, am waiting to see if they really go belly-up if they don’t manage to raise $4 million by May 31. I’m thinking they won’t…it’s merely a fundraising ploy. Stay tuned!
Eh? Give them my money so that can continue broadcasting jokers like Todd Bentley..? I don’t think so. I work too hard for my pearls to cast it to swine.
I truly hope their kingdom comes crashing down all around them, and the world sees it go via their own satellite transmission, esp the one in Jerusalem.
So Chrystal, how much did you send them?
LOL
So sad, that people will actually send them money. Jesus is almost here, so it won’t be long now before their charade is up
…the sad part is that there are people out there that will send them money, the elderly ones in particular and it seems just to keep growing. I mean, look at all the followers that False Prophet Benny and his protege Massah have…they have lead astray these people, the blind leading the blind and it angers and saddens me to see it happen…they feed into them…
Whilst there is the occasional program on GodTV that promotes sound doctrine, the amount of heresy and deception they broadcast is such that, on balance, the body of Christ would be better off without them. The sooner they go bust, the better!
This is soooo stupid. Come on Rory and Wendy. The both of you are supporters of the Word of Faith doctrine. So, why so little faith. If YOU are giving a lot of money away in God’s Name, He will be forced to give you 100-fold back right. Soo…., why this plea. It is such a contradiction. They plea for money while they are broadcasting messages that when you give, you will get money back from the heavenly bankaccount. It seems that the financial trouble is also hitting the WoF empires very, very hard. And actually I don’t care. If they really rely on God and not on men, He will take care of that right, unless their empires are Man centered and not God centered.
Beckon a minty green angel to deliver a few gold dusted babies with gold teeth in their mouths and vacuum a couple of churches for a few gemstones.
Yup, I’m feeling like it’s time to puke again. This whole things smacks of lies and deceit; as always. Hmmm….let me get this straight. They are WoF people and so that must mean they just need a quick “loan” of $4 million until the Lord gives them the money. After that, they’ll send back the money everyone sent. Ya, that’s it. I’m going to call right now and give them BOTH credit card numbers because they’ll be sending it back once the Lord gives them what they need. After all, isn’t that the entire mantra of these Word of Fakery, er, I mean Word of Faith folks? I wouldn’t even waste the money on postage to send them a lump of coal.
In His service,
Mike
I believe what I’ll do is send them a picture of me without any money. I’ll write them a short note that says, “If you believe God, He’ll increase your “blessings” 100-fold. You’ll have your financial breakthrough…you just have to believe!”
Wonder if they’ll practice what they preach and just believe God for that financial breakthrough?
I’m not holding my breath
Chrystal ~
You should take a photo of a 10 dollar bill and attach a little note to the picture that says “Here is my donation to you”. =)
“Rory and Wendy Alec, according to their urgent pleas, can’t meet their own needs, yet they want you to send them your prayer requests so they can pray over yours? Am I the only one thinking there is something wrong with this picture?”
Hilarious!
Hey, let’s all get together and send Wendy and Rory one of these:

It does bring out the sarcasm in us when these things happen…but it’s kind of righteous sarcasm. I can even give a Biblical example-Elijah on Mount Carmel getting sarcastic with the so-called prophets of Baal:”26Then they took the ox which was given them and they prepared it and called on the name of Baal from morning until noon saying, “O Baal, answer us.” But there was no voice and no one answered. And they leaped about the altar which they made. 27It came about at noon, that Elijah mocked them and said, “Call out with a loud voice, for he is a god; either he is occupied or gone aside, or is on a journey, or perhaps he is asleep and needs to be awakened.” 28So they cried with a loud voice and cut themselves according to their custom with swords and lances until the blood gushed out on them. 29When midday was past, they raved until the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice; but there was no voice, no one answered, and no one paid attention.” 1 Kings 18: 26-30
Hey, let’s get together and send Rory and Wendy some of these:

They want a monopoly, let’s give them a Monopoly.

It would be hilarious if they were flooded with those.
It’s interesting to note the Inspirational Network promoting a telethon this week as well with mike murdock and Todd coontz which are rebroadcasts-it’s like competative fundraising-don’t these networks make money from the ministries that pay to be on their networks-and then the minstries that pay to be on networks have fundraising so they can be on a network.
Interestingly there must be folk from these ministries and networks that monitor these blogs because it must be rubbing folk the wrong way
I just have to wonder…..will the Lord release one more big revival before He takes His church? I don’t see it in the Scriptures. I see the Jews coming to realize that Christ was(is) the Messiah they missed the first time around but I don’t see a revival in the church. I’m kind of sad as I sit here contemplating how people are so very easily deceived. I was talking to my son yesterday. He attends a church 4000 miles away (I miss him so much) and he said that at their bible study about the last days, the pastor said he has “reservations” about the Tribulation being a real event because he couldn’t imagine that God would put people through such horrific things in order to give them a second chance. I had to immediately intervene in that situation and explain that if this pastor teaches that God wouldn’t do such horrific things, he is calling Jesus a liar just based upon Matt. 24, not to mention so many other passages. I told him to tread VERY lightly with this pastor because if he is denying that God is not only a God of love but of judgment as well, he’s going down the wrong path. I also had to explain that the Great Tribulation isn’t about “second chances.” It’s about judgment for sin. That is a huge misconception that I seem to be running into a lot lately. The reason I mention the situation with my son is because my son really loves his pastor and believes him no matter what he says. I had to explain to him that he doesn’t have to stop loving the man but he DOES need to weigh EVERYTHING he says against the truth of the Scripture and if he’s wrong, point it out. Some things are minor but on cardinal doctrine, they MUST be spot on. And I also mention it because this situation with my son is EXACTLY what happens that causes people to be led astray…..they are enamored with the PERSON (Todd Bentley, Benny Hinn, Creflow Dollar, ad nauseam) and don’t believe they could teach error. My son didn’t think that a man with so many “credentials” could teach error. I had to explain that education means nothing if they can’t discern the truth. How many people will go to Hell because of their “education”? A lot of those degrees and educational sheepskins on the wall might as well be kept in the bathroom in case they run out of toilet paper because if they are teaching lies, all of that education is USELESS.
My daughter is in bible college and I often ask her what she is being taught because she is young and impressionable and may fall into that same kind of trap….the professor is so smart so he MUST know the truth. DANGER, WILL ROBINSON. If they aren’t teaching the truth, RUN AWAY. 1 John 4.1-3, my friends.
Anyway, I see the effects of sin so much in my town here in Taxifornia. My neighborhood is surrounded by crackheads, meth labs, pedophiles, homeless people, gangs, and violence. And this is the nice part of town….. It’s all because of sin.
As a closing thought I just wanted to share what a local pastor said a month or so ago as several churches here went out into the community to just love on people. He said, “If your church closed it’s doors for good this week, would anyone know you were even there?” He said that because he wanted people to think about what they are called to do as Christians. We are to be lights on the hill; salt of the earth. The question was a sobering one.
Sorry for rambling on….
In His service,
Mike
Sending them the monopoly money is very tempting. Thanks for the idea!
Ramble on Mike L. I left my own beloved (beloved I tell you!) church over a year ago. I love those people, and the pastor too. And he is so spot-on on so very much, and I guess for so long I was kinda blind to the stuff he was way off on. And some things that he taught were right on the biblical, but then he’d turn a blind eye and let just the opposite go on in the church. such as tongues. He gave an entire wednesday night class on the proper use of tongues as laid out by Paul himself, and the very next sunday, as was usual, (I liked to call her) Little Ms. Scream-n-babble was up at the front, screaming at the top of her lungs in gibberish over some soul, and the Pastor never said a word. The last straw was when they started a new Beth Moore study the week later. I left after that. I even went to my care-minister with my concerns over Beth Moore and her practice of cherry picking scripture, and her wink-and-nod to Comtemplative spirituality. All to no avail. I guess I wasn’t far enough up on the church totem pole to be heard and took seriously. Which was another problem I had. The elitist mentality that I found there. The church was started by a family, and if you were family, you had an official job in the church, were an elder, or served some other function. I just started feeling like I didn’t fit in. Oops! Looks like I babbled on too. I appologise. But the hurt is still kinda fresh.
Eli, I know your comment was more directed to Mike. I just wanted to jump in and encourage you in your effort to stand against bad teaching. No matter what they thought -you did the right thing. It doesn’t always work out well for us, but be encouraged you are not alone! Keep in mind, it is our responsibility to show the truth (or reveal the error, which ever way you look at it). It is the responsibility of the Holy Spirit to open their eyes to that truth! This little piece of info helped me a great deal and I use it to help lighten the load of others.
What a circus, and they attach the name of Christ 2 it,look if what they r doing is of God and they r called of GOD will he not supply all their needs?of course he would, but since what they r doing is not of GOD they r soliciting funds from the body of Christ.I have said 4 a long time if any ministries are of GOD and called by GOD he will support them they wont need people out in tv land 2 send money 2 support them.I look at most ministries on tv,if they stopped asking people 2 stop sending money in 2 them they would fold up tent,so I ask the question who r they trusting GOD our money,I think we all know the answer 2 that question.I am not saying all ministries we c on tv r this way but many r and some r quite obvious.
Hi Eli:
So, the hurt from leaving your church is “still kinda fresh”? That’s okay. God gave you feelings and emotions, so it’s perfectly normal for you to experience emotional pain and grief.
Please know that you are not alone, due to the fact that what you experienced in your former church is taking place in the lives of Christians across the nation. I know, I talk with them and pray with them on a regular basis. At times, I cry with them.
I view your leaving not so much as your being pushed out, but God opening your eyes to people and their true colors. It is by God’s grace that you are no longer there. And, although much pain is associated with these situations, wounds heal and make us stronger for the next battle we will encounter.
Eli, there is a lesson to be learned from your experience. Be encouraged to remain faithful to the Lord–no matter what. Open up to Him fully in prayer, and share what is on your heart. He will see you through, and bless and strengthen you in the process.
In closing for now, had you stayed at the church you may have been drawn into the deeper deception that is coming. But for now, you have a story to tell, a testimony of how the Lord loves you, and how He rescued you and spared you from worse things to come.
There are others out there just like you, who need to hear your story, and learn that they are not alone. In the meantime, I and others on this blog stand ready to help in any way possible, because they have experienced your pain and grief, and have been made better for it by God’s unfailing love and faithfulness.
God bless you,
Bud Press
