Rejoicing Over God’s Word

These people in Malawi are rejoicing after being given Bibles.  How often do we see people rejoice over God’s Word like this?  It’s quite humbling to watch.

Now this is what I call making a true joyful noise unto the Lord.

However, keep in mind that the literacy rate for women in Malawi is less than 50%.

What a wonderful video..thank you for the uplift….I twice sent Bibles to Nigeria…The shipping cost much more than the Bibles but God is worth it. The pastor sent me pictures back of the people in their little church.

Someone mentioned to me, that it could have been a deception….but I thought, hey, even if it was, 36 Bibles arrived in Nigeria. I hope they were received as well as indicated here. What joy!

Even for those who can’t read, others can read to them. They can still hear the wonderful news as they read to each other. Most cultures do not have people as isolated as Westerners within their culture.

I’m always overjoyed when others receive God’s Word. And it is not something to take for granted. I’ve heard of a language group that had only a few pages of Scripture at a time –as they rode bikes over dangerous trails to pass it along to each other –from village to village.

My parents spent the first 17 years of their married lives translating the New Testament into a previously unwritten language. There were many dangers and trials too, but just think: That group has been able to have the Good News that they can read for themselves. Yes, only a handful could read back in those days, but now their grandkids are reading and having much joy in the Lord. For being in His Word does bring joy and peace even through suffering (which they have plenty of –like most of my friends have long since died…)

Anyway, all to say, that many just don’t realize how fortunate we are to have God’s Word so available to us. YET… most will not read it!

I’m sure God is not pleased with the lukewarm attitude most Westerners exhibit toward His precious, mighty, comforting, holy Words of Truth and Light. But… for the remnant… may we always rejoice in it!

Thanks again. Your posts are great.

When thinking of how lukewarm Westerners are concerning God’s Word and how many take it for granted, allowing it to sit on the shelf unopened and drawing dust, I think back on the work and faithfulness of William Tyndale, the man who translated it out of the Greek into the English language. He was burnt at the stake.

75% of the Old Testament is based upon his work, and roughly 83% of the New.

Yes! I’ll bet they read them too. Great book to learn to read from as well, it formerly served that purpose in the early days oft he USA.

HOW WONDERFUL! THANKS! I was jsut wondering the other day if there where was anyone left anywhere who really wanted to know about Jesus!

Thanks, Chrystal. It is a judgement against the US and the west to see others rejoice over receiving God’s word and we allow our Bibles to collect dust… I am convicted, that’s for sure.

Hey, BTW, there is an org called Love Packages. They are found at http://www.lovepackages.org . They send Bibles and teaching materials all over the world. I order Bibles in bulk and have them shipped directly to Love Packages. Great resource. Thanks.

Ps. 138:2… You have exalted above all things Your name and Your word.

Psa 119:24 Your testimonies are my delight; they are my counselors.

Psa 119:35 Lead me in the path of your commandments, for I delight in it.

Psa 119:54 Your statutes have been my songs in the house of my sojourning.

Psa 119:72 The law of your mouth is better to me than thousands of gold and silver pieces.

Psa 119:103 How sweet are your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth!

Of what other book in all the world can it be said that it is “living and active”? Praise the Lord for his marvelous Word and our ability to read and understand it!!

    In His service,

    Mike
