Todd Bentley posted a video blog from his recent book signing. Watch as Bentley does a meet and greet with the fans and sells his products. You’ll hear mention of Lakeland, and then later in the video, you’ll hear him say “Shika” and and see one woman supposedly come under the influence of the spirit.
Afterwards, they cut to the MorningStar Harvest Fest, Worship and Warfare Conference, where a woman is supposedly prophesying, “God wants you to shine,” while the camera cuts to Todd Bentley. I would say this is a very effective PR campaign to get the masses primed for the deception that Bentley is on a new mission from God and will be coming to a church or conference center near you!
The more things change the more they stay the same.

Very disturbing…as always with him. How can these people flock to this man? The service at the end is very bizarre. She has her Bible open, is kneeling over it, looking into it…but what comes out of her mouth is totally strange stuff…repeating the same thing over and over like she is in a trance. This is not Christianity…it is mysticism and new age.

I understand there is a foreword from John Crowder in this book that says, “Moo, yoy oing oing yoing!”
I guss that would sum it all up!

I am sure he will be just as popular as he was before. It seems to be recurring theme with him. I wonder how long it will be before “god” tells him to leave his second wife and get a new one?
If “god” told him to marry his first wife, you would think it was “god” that told him to leave her and marry this new one…..?……?…..
I am at a loss for words that he still has enough followers to have a book signing.

Out of curiosity, I watched the Todd Bentley book signing video, again, and counted the number of people standing at the sales table. In the time allotted, there were about 25.
For a man who claims to have the gift of healing and sees “Jesus” on a regular basis, one would think it would have been “standing room only”.

Do you think it’s really sheep who are being slaughtered here? Jesus said, “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.
This is what happens when we exalt one man and “his” gift. We become prone to deception by reason of our idolatry. Paul said, “Follow me as I follow Christ.” Todd Bentley may be following something (his own perceived best interests most likely), but it isn’t Christ he’s following.
People who know their God are not deceived by the con men, because they know God. People who are practicing idolatry and magic (God has to do it if you say the right words) are easily deceived by anyone who tickles their ears.

Are you willing to say that every single one of the people sitting in charismatic churches aren’t saved? I’m not willing to make that judgment.
Posted by cindyinsd on November 13, 2009 at 2:01 pm
I don’t know, Crystal.
Instinctively, my answer is “No! Of course not!” But then, I’m not sure whether I was in Christ during that “charismatic” phase of my life (quite a long one). I wanted to be, but I just don’t know. I didn’t know then, either, but I’d been assured that if I only prayed the prayer and really, really meant it, I was good. Nevertheless, I often felt unsure.
One day as I was driving home (a long, quiet, mountainous drive), it occurred to me that I might as well give God complete carte blanche in my life. This is a scary thing to do, but perfect love casts out all fear, and if I loved Him and believed He loved me, what was I afraid of? Yes, He might do painful things to me, but only to refine me, and He’d be there with me, right? And truly, we know Him in the fellowship of suffering.
I had thought I’d done this many times, btw–emotional declarations of “I surrender all,” but I realized then that I’d never really let go. Nor did I ever know how to let go. I’d been taught that He was Santa, and that was the god I’d surrendered to. Now I knew He wasn’t Santa at all.
I surrendered to a dangerous, wild, unpredictable God who didn’t have to do anything just because I quoted a bible verse often enough. I finally surrendered to YHWH, who is Good, but not safe in the way we see safety.
Thanks for helping me think this thing through, Crystal. As to the state of anyone else, I have no idea. I hope they are in Christ, but He knows, and He knows how to bring them to that point if they’re not there.
Love, Cindy

Words can’t really articulate the grief, the sorrow the anger that I experience listening to this man, and his “handler” Rick Joyner with their frequent “press releases”. Never, never have the come clean about the enumerated heresies. the ponzi scheme tactics that they called “supporting the outpouring” the merchandising of their alleged anointings. the angel worship….shall I continue???
The issue isn’t charlatans…it’s what the Body of Christ does about it…and it’s is beyond insane that those who have exposed this bastard are the ones within the Charismatic ranks, would refer to Watchmen, who want to protect the flock as legalists, hate mongers, and merely critical; as the real issue.

I guess Bentley’s “shika” is similar to Crowder’s “Oy yoing yoing” … heretics of a feather

This may have been done already, but I looked up the definition of the words “shika” and “sheika” and “sheka” and found the following:
Shika: Japanese, meaning female deer. It is also the name of a town located in Japan.
Sources:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shika,_Ishikawa
Sheika: “the wife of a sheik” and/or “a woman who heads a large family and is revered, esp. as a guardian of religious ways.”
Source: http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/sheika
Sheka: “Şekä, a dwarf in the Tatar mythology;” “Sheka (kingdom), a former kingdom located in Ethiopia;” “Sheka (village), a village in the Republic of Tatarstan, Russia.
Source: http://encyclopedia.thefreedictionary.com/Sheka
Last but not least, there is a city in Somalia, Africa named “Sheeka Lassay.”

As for John Crowder’s “Oy yoing yoing,” the word “yoing” rhymes with “boing,” which signifies a serious loss of brain activity.

An empty vessel makes a lot of noise.
Its about making money, being famous and pretending that healing is easy to perform, when you can use the name of Jesus to ‘get away with it’. Medically speaking there should be evidence of healing otherwise they could be sued for fraud and false premise, something they are very quick to accuse the government of in Mr Joyners o!ther videos. They are taking Jesus and his name to the gutter. Its time they understood that no longer shall we be blinded by the babble of a would be, trying to be, aren’t I great ’son of a gun from ………………………………. Lord I am tired of the profits and their ways.
