Okay, that headline is a little misleading, but if the bill that is currently in the senate passes, it could happen one day.
Read this article from Fox News and tell me if your comfortable with that. I’m not a conspiracy theorist, but the times we live in now is enough to make you one. Especially since Obama took the White House.
The bill says that the president will have the power to take control of the internet in the event of an emergency. It may even give him the “kill switch.”
Think the president wouldn’t abuse this power? Maybe not this one, but he’s paving the road for a future leader to do just that. One monumental terrorist attack and not only could a president declare martial law, but he could also shut down all courses of communication and essentially hold his citizens hostage.
If there is to be security on the internet, then it must occur on the internet. Private networks should provide these measures, not the government. Must the government have its hand in and control EVERYTHING?

Pretty scary stuff. The Congress is pushing bills through so fast, there is no way the American people can keep up with it all. Something is afoot…why all these measures to intrude into our lives and curtail our freedoms all of a sudden? I suppose though that this has creeping up on us on for a while, but it has certainly excelerated with Obama’s presidency…and the man has only been in office 8 months…3 years, four months to go. Yikes!
This stuff started many years ago. REX84 is one of the first things I can remember that dealt with the presursors to a totalitarian state and that was in 1984. Regardless of which party is in power, the march continues. We gave away a great deal of freedom under Bush 43. It was in the name of national security but it still yields most of our freedom to the Federal government in the event of a ‘national disaster’. The funny thing is, as long as our conveniences are disturbed, we ASK for the government to take over! Americans have lost any sense of personal responsibility.
I agree that we are in danger. Maybe those FEMA prison camps we hear about from the conspiracy people are real afterall?

What’s frightening about all this is that the American people have no desire to resist. As long as they are allowed to have enough to eat,to stay warm,and be able to continue life pretty much unimpeded they are content with the status quo.
I remember way back in the late 70′s and early 80′s when our government gave away tens of thousand of steel workers jobs to foreign goverments.
A very knowlegeable author wrote a story in a trade magazine in which he asked this question: “where is the outrage?”
Indeed,America, where is the outrage? Is this the CHANGE you so earnestly desired?

We have been dumbed down as a society. People have been growing “fat” in so many respects. It’s not just a physical fatness I’m referring to. People have become so comfortable with entertainment, eating,drinking and being merry. They are so self absorbed they cannot and will not see the need of others. They are just so caught up in self that it’s all about “Me”.
Rather than making time to understand what is going on in the world through research of their own, they get their “information” from their icons such as “Oprah”, or in the realm of “Christendom” get their information from TBN or CBN or the pop Christian icons of the day. It’s a disturbing thing when people would rather be spoon fed information, rather than having and using discernment to seek for the truth.
The mainstream media has been put together by the elite. And I would suggest that Christians do some serious research in where they get their “news”. IT’s biased and information we should be hearing about is not covered, but are more bombarded with material or coverage of events that need not get so much attention like the death of Michael Jackson, or the activities of a reality show couple in the process of divorce who has 8 kids….
If you research Obama’s origin and the lack of information on where he was born and who his parents are….it should be a telling sign that this man was not truly elected by the people, but by the system that supports this type of domination over the people.
America is not what we think it is…or what we thought it was…or what it used to Be.

Conspiricy theorists have become conspiracy realists! The creeping erosion of our human freedoms has been happening on many fronts for many years, under the banner of tolerance, national security, helping those less fortunate, letting the government take care of us. I live in Europe now where you cannot fart without a permit and most people are just fine with their life this way. We don’t love Jesus anymore so life is living just for today and we try to get all we can of the junk food of socialism.
As Crystal asks, just WHY does the government have to be involved in everything? It is an organism obsessed with its own existence. It thinks its host society is too stupid to feel it sucking the life out of it. So far it’s right.
