Ah, So That’s What They’re Doing!!!

Well, I must admit that I hadn’t thought of it like this.  In their latest letter to viewers and partners, Rory and Wendy Alec tell us all those trees they’re planting are to prepare the Holy Land for the return of the King.  It’s a prophetic act, ya see.  I guess if you donate $25 to buy a tree (and to keep GodTv broadcasting), it shows that you believe Jesus Christ is really returning to the earth.  That’s what I get from their latest missive, at any rate.

The place where I work has a plant sale every year as a fundraiser.  We sell everything from blueberry plants to herbs.  One thing we’re offering this year is trees.  The large nursery (the National Forestry Service), where we are considering buying the trees, offers 100 trees for $40.  They are first year, bare-root sapplings, which I’m told by our horticulturalist is the best way to go.  I’m talking about white oaks, crepe myrtles, pines, anything you would want to buy.  If you’re going to buy trees in bulk, as I’m sure the Alecs’ are, you would get a deal like the one mentioned above, yet the Alecs’ are offering one tree for $25???  I’m hoping the multitudes will see through this ploy and know it’s just another money-making scheme.  Save your money, and go buy a tree at Lowe’s Home and Garden Center, or one of your local nurseries where you can get them cheaper, and plant it where it can do the most good … in your front yard.  At least that way you can get some enjoyment out of it.  And if you really want to prepare for the coming of the King, read His message to us which is contained in the holy and infallible scripture, and make sure your heart is right before God.  Don’t send GodTv $25 of your hard-earned money during this time of economic upheaval, save it to feed your family.  God wants your heart, not trees.

As for beautifying the Holy Land for the return of the King, well, our Lord cares about the state of our heart, not the barren wilderness.  They don’t stop to realize that only when Jesus returns will the earth spring forth its vegetation and springs of nourishing water.  Not before.  If it’s left in the hands of man, it will only present flaws and corruption, for man destroys and corrupts everything he puts his hand to.  I guess the Alecs’ haven’t stopped to read prophetic scripture.  Much of Jerusalem is going to fall, the nation of Israel is going to see persecution the likes of which has never been seen since their establishment upon the earth, the world is going to gather around and encompass them with the heart to destroy them…how many of those trees do you think are going to survive that?

I doubt the Alecs’ care.  I would like to be present when the controlling minds at GodTv sit down for their barnstorming sessions and think up their latest gimmicks.  I bet it would be a very revealing experience.

Just in case the link doesn’t work, here’s what the Alecs’ had to say:

Join Rory & Wendy this Missions Week in an apostolic prophetic act as they offer the Body of Christ across the whole earth a unique opportunity to prepare the Holy Land for the return of the King…

Broadcasting LIVE from Jerusalem and Washington DC, Missions Week will coincide with the Feast of Tabernacles, a unique Jewish festival time which celebrates the Lord’s supernatural provision in a time of harvest. 1. What’s even funnier (I guess) is that Rory said that where they are planting the trees is good soil. Uh, did I mention it is in the dessert? It is about as good as the soil that God(less)TV creates.

  2. By the way..when the Lord arrives, the city of Jerusalem will be split in three by an earthquake..so much for the landscaping..however if one can be a tree of righteuosness a planting of the Lord instead. Save your money, send it to a third world pastor to encourage him instead.check out ..”project Holy Spirit’s workshops” ..google””Holy Spirit’s workshop”..see what you think.Dr.Ed,manager,Holy Sprit’s workshop

  3. It’s part of the arrogance of man to think that he, in his flesh, could make the earth ready for Jesus. Only Jesus can restore the earth to the way it was before the fall of man. That is when the redemption of the earth will be, not before Jesus’ return.

But when people do NOT know the Scriptures, they will fall for every wind of doctrine. BAD doctrine…

  4. I’m wondering how the local Jerusalem gov’t feels about them coming in and planting 1 million trees on their land. I’ll bet it doesn’t happen, they just want the cash.

  5. “….they just want the cash….” – so true!

We have friends who are missionaries to Israel and they have horror stories about the people who claim to want to “bless Israel” but do everything except that.

Have you ever contributed to the purchase of Bibles for Israel? Our friend says they are certainly bought but then are stored away in a warehouse. He has been to one and says it is packed floor to ceiling with Bibles and there is no intention of distributing them to the people. So much for “blessing Israel”!!!

  6. Would someone please verify that these trees have in fact been planted – and that they were bought by God t.v. Who plants them ? Do Godt.v emplyees actually go out and plant trees ? Where ? On whose land? Do they get permission? Or are they giving the trees to other people to plant? If so, who?

The whole thing sounds like a scam of the first magnitude. I find it hard – and sad – to think that so many people are taken in by this gobledegook salespitch. Imagine – you are performing ‘an apostolic prophetic act’ when you send money. What on earth is that? Nonsense, that’s what it is. You are ‘preparing for Christ’s return.’ So you’re going to bring Jesus down from heaven by planting trees ? Pull the other one.
