Environmentalism is at a peak lately. Now, Rory and Wendy Alec, of God-TV, are saying the Lord is urging them to “rally together for the next 40 days in heightened prayer and fasting for BREAKTHROUGH.” Source.
Have you ever noticed the signs and wonders crowd us the term “BREAKTHROUGH” for everything? This time the breakthrough is achieving the magnanimous feat of planting 1,000,000 trees in the Israeli desert. If you donate to God-TV, the Alecs’ will plant a “thank you” tree in your honor in the holy land.
It’s really crystal clear that whenever people are gullible enough to donate to the likes of Wendy and Rory Alec, they get something like a tree planted half way across the world, something that would neither benefit nor prosper them. What do the Alecs’ get? The money of those they’ve duped into sowing money into their ministry. With the vast myriads of souls sliding down the slippery slope to Hell, God-TV is spending millions on trees instead of taking the gospel of Jesus Christ into the world. Talk about having your priorities mixed up!
What’s really disgusting is that in the letter sent out by Rory Alec, he cites the recent economic crisis that many are facing, and he then requests that people donate to God-TV.
This is from Alecs’ letter:
Saints, the time is now to petition the Father for breakthrough in your own life… in your families’ lives… in your neighbors’ lives… in the lives and ministries of the GOD TV family around the globe. As the world faces grave financial crisis, the Father has promised to keep us from the eye of the storm, but we need to trust and set our hearts upon Him. Source.
And just how do you trust and set your hearts upon Him? Why, by donating to God-TV, of course. Here is the next part of his statement (this is all you have to do to achieve your BREAKTHROUGH):
So we ask you to do the following three things:
- Pray fervently that the Father would bring breakthrough in these coming 40 days.
- Give generously as Missions Week continues, we are ready to plant trees across Israel in your honor as you strengthen GOD TV with your generous gift and ensure the Gospel is taken into more homes, in more cities, in more nations.
- Wait expectantly…for the breakthrough that we together are trusting the Father for! Source.
That’s right! Just give generously and sit back and wait expectantly for the breakthrough that not only you, but THEY are trusting the Father for on your behalf.
If the Alecs’ want such a breakthrough for you, then why don’t they reverse the flow of money and give into your hands? That would certainly help in this time of economic crisis.
I sometimes feel like I’m talking to the wall. The heresy in this nonsense is so visibly apparent to the discerning that it’s hard to understand why anyone would swallow it. I want to shake people and scream, “Wake up!!!!” But, I know that won’t help. So, I pray that God would grant people’s hearts repentance, and I pray that they would listen to the convicting voice of the Spirit, open their eyes, and see truth. That’s my prayer.
This is completely ridiculous! Trees don’t grow well in the Middle East anyway because it is mostly desert.

That’s funny. I didn’t even have to read very far to know that this so called calling is fishy. Why would GOD ALMIGHTY need 1,000,000 trees planted over in the desserts of Israel? Isn’t Israel, albeit, most of the Middle East going to go through some destructive judgment and humbling soon? I say soon because the signs of the times are clear to me — that Jesus Christ of Nazareth is coming back very soon. And, according to the Holy Scriptures, Jerusalem will be ravaged before the LORD’s return.
Plant trees for what?

successful marketing of your company usually requires that you continuously are coming up with new and improved ways (gimicks) to bring in the money. One would think that eventually these people would run out of ideas for new trinkets and gimicks to sell to the masses, but apparently not. how entertaining (sad?) it would be to be a fly on the wall when the staff meetings are going and new ideas are being tossed around.

Uh, planting 1,000,000 trees in the Israeli desert?
First of all, there would have to be allow “faith seed” offerings, then people to plant those 1 million trees, and how much area would it require to plant that many trees?
These people are mad! Those who would fall for this is seriously and sadly spending their money on a futile effort.

If anyone desires to plant something, plant this…the gospel!! People are in dire need to hear the TRUTH, that we are all wicked sinners, we are in need of repentance, we must cry out to a Holy God for mercy and forgiveness, and submit to the One who died for us, Jesus Christ. He is Lord and Savior over all who repent and believe in the gospel, and that gospel doesn’t command us to plant any trees. “I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you by the grace of Christ and are turning to a ‘different’ gospel, which is really no gospel at all” Galatians 1:6
There is a famine in America, a famine of truth. People will believe anything but the truth. We are living out the prophetic scriptures, ‘for the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine’ 2 Timothy 4:3
Even so, come Lord Jesus

I thought this whole enterprise was odd ..so good to see the comments here. These two have duped thousands of people.. and what will the ordinary Jewish folk be thinking of all the shananigins as all these trees appear on the hillside. I thought the old dispensation finished on the cross .. all Spirit filled Christians are part of the New Jerusalem. Making Pilgrimages there is sacrilegious as far I can see. Furthermore, no one knows the time or the hour that the Lord will return even if Rory does “I’m convinced the Lord is coming soon”. (Recent Missions Week).

well well well…a new gimmick. it just amazes me how easily led people/christians are. i have been there and seen it. for nearly 25 years i have heard the “name it and claim it’s”, the “dominionists” (church will take authority over the world til christ’s return), the prophetic fortune telling, the hype, the propaganda…now it is just getting silly but this was all predicted by jesus himself. “in my name, many false christs shall appear saying “i am the christ” and deceive many. if people really studied (and i mean study…greek/hebrew/correct context/etc) this passage almost does not make sense. jesus would not come in his own name but he warned of many who would using his name “christ” which in greek means “annointed one”. how many are claiming to be “anointed”? it is now like a buzz word and we have thousands of “spiritual groupies” following these men/women and all of them living in a complete delusion of signs and wonders which are mind induced. that is what is predicted in the last days…DECEPTION! going back to god tv’s tree planting stunt…well…just another means of keeping the gospel circus moving and making believer’s pockets even more empty. i know what i am talking about. I “served” at a leadership level in a charismatic church, talked the talk and wasted thousands of pounds on other people’s “pizza dreams”…i am ashamed of what i beleived in and what i taught. it is nothing more than a protection racket. if you dont give to god (his henchmen) you will be ruined. sounds like a protection racket to me! will the real jesus please come forward.

Chrystal – You’re not talking to a wall. ( re GODTV and trees in Israel 23 Oct 2008). You’ve spoken to me at least – and I guess to many more. But I know what you feel. I feel the same. All I can do is shout to my wife – or to the ceiling – ‘Listen to this rubbish.’ So it was with some surprise and no little interest that I came across this web site where people are talking about GODTV and this Tree Planting Project – or Scam, more likely. Will Godtv produce accounts and show us the results of their tree planting mission ?
The other thing I want to know is that with all this talk of reaching millions of people around the globe in hundreds of different countries with the Gospel of Jesus Christ – do they broadcast in many different languages? If not, how do people understand? And what do they broadcast? Because what I see going out here in UK is not the clear, simple gospel message of the love of God in redeeming the world through sending Jesus to be our saviour. All I usually see is people asking for money under clever salesmanship like saying you are ’sowing a seed of faith’ when you send money to them.
I have to say that Rory and Wendy themselves come across as genuine enough. But then, how can they give support and backing to the numerous other fraudsters who so regularly appear? The’re either gullible or complicit.

Well, if those false teachers speak in tongues and have signs and wonders, that would be their explanation on how the message reaches those in foreign lands. Or they may claim translators. In any language, false teaching harms many!
