According to Todd Bentley, you don’t get the annointing from the Holy Spirit unless you donate money.  Here are his own words as relayed by Tampa.com to convict him:

Get out your credit cards, he said. Write a check. Click on the blue button on the Web site. “You reap what you sow,” he said. “Generosity and the anointing go hand in hand.”   Source.  (emphasis mine)

Every time I hear this ploy, I remember what Peter said to Simon the Sorceror, who had attempted to buy the power of the Holy Spirit:

Acts 8:18-24:

18 Now when Simon saw that the Spirit was bestowed through the laying on of the apostles’ hands, he offered them money,

19 saying, “Give this authority to me as well, so that everyone on whom I lay my hands may receive the Holy Spirit.”

20 But Peter said to him, “May your silver perish with you, because you thought you could obtain the gift of God with money!

21 “You have no part or portion in this matter, for your heart is not right before God.

22 “Therefore repent of this wickedness of yours, and pray the Lord that if possible, the intention of your heart may be forgiven you.

23 “For I see that you are in the gall of bitterness and in the bondage of iniquity.”

24 But Simon answered and said, “Pray to the Lord for me yourselves, so that nothing of what you have said may come upon me.”  (emphasis mine)

What Simon tried to do is the same thing Todd Bentley is teaching above.  Peter told Simon he was in the bondage of iniquity and he should repent of this wickedness.  Yet, Todd Bentley is teaching and instructing people to do the same thing Simon the Sorceror was rebuked for!

God’s annointing is not so cheap that it can be bought with money.  Would he look upon your bank account and decide that you are worthy of His Spirit, or would He look upon your heart?

As far as Todd Bentley is concerned, I can only say what the Apostle Peter said…may your silver perish with you, for you thought you could obtain the gift of God with money.
